Can be both cartoon and realistic.

The hippo, rhino, and elephant are. The others can pass for 1/12-ish or more (brown bear is almost grizzly size but still acceptable).

Fortunately there was a thread about this exact hippo just few days ago, and the first poster was right on the money. It's a Kinder Egg toy, code DC021, from 2011. I found a website with a page for it that has more information, of all the things to exist: https://colnect.com/en/kids_meal_toys/kids_meal_toy/11964-Hippopotamus-Kinder_-_Natoons_-_Young_Animals-Kinder_Surprise-Worldwide
