I get that they're life-support for Arakis's harsh environment, but those things are just too bulky for a desert environment, not to mention how many nooks and crannies probably get filled with wind-swept sand alone. At least the Lynch versions had an organic aesthetic, and the 2001 versions were actually based on what real desert-dwellers wear here on Earth.
I am curious to see what the Guild Navigators will look like. I always liked the giant floating fetus-worm Navigators from the Lynch Dune.
