Why do toy companies insist on making exclusives at Walgreens?

I understand that companies make deals to have exclusives, but fucking Walgreens? They never have what I want in stock.

It's not weird, they actually give the retail space for product, and said product gets people in store outside of their (Walgreen's) usual demo.
Otherwise this stuff wouldn't get made.

These apparently sold so badly that they're never making any more Tron figures.

I have zero horse in the Tron race because I never even watched it in its entirety, but I feel like if you do Tron you need a pretty damn impressive paintjob to really make them pop. Otherwise you just get flat and boring paintjobs.

Maybe not weird, but i liked their Thing better than regular retail Thing. Could never find the damn thing, but was barely lucky enough to pay $30 for one

In my area, what's weird is that it's CVS>Walgreens>Rite Aid by number of stores, even before Target's pharmacies got rebranded

My local Walgreens never had this in stock. Though there's still a bunch of Wasps and Spider Women warming the shelf. If they ever get around to clearancing them, I might be tempted to make a harem.

I dont think Tron ever sells anyway. Some LCS's still have the old 2.0 ones even.

also i have the KH versions, which are ok but i missed out on good accessories

Diamond says that its Black Hole toys are 7" scale (1/10), but I think they made V.I.N.CENT. too small and Maximilian too big. V.I.N.CENT. is 1/12 and Maximilian (9" tall) is probably 1/8.

It's the only reason I signed up for their rewards, which is pretty generous. Almost every week they give out a $5 reward for spending $20. I got Silver Surfer for free back when they still let you use all your rewards, now it's limited to $5.

Walgreens hired a toy director that was a former big head of Kay Bee i believe he had a twitter feed for a bit before he closed it but he mentioned that Walgreens hired him to get contracts for toy exclusives to diversify their offerings .

Because of this guy, Steve Anne. He was category manager for Walgreen's toys, plush, games, and puzzles until recently. He had the brilliant idea of convincing Hasbro to release ML exclusives (ie: glorified repaints) to Walgreens and it worked. He's now working for Big G, which makes board games. During SDCC '18, he was on a panel about the closure of TRU. Check him out.
