I've been slowly rescuing minifigures from the depths of *the box*, and trying to put them back to their original state. Not going so well. Also trying to move all the technic/bionicle to a new box.

Side note, does anyone actually believe the guy who made the video about his collection being trashed/stolen? ( reference https://youtu.be/No9X4eQhWDI ) I find it to be bullshit, but the dude yoinked $40k or something crazy like that from sympathizers - I find it weird that he didn't show any damages or anything like that, he just shows his messy background while crying into the camera... it's old news, but I don't buy it and I never did.

Aside from that definitely some Dino 2010 (or maybe Dino Attack, depending on where you're from) and the beige pterosaur is from either Dino Island or Studio.
It's honestly pretty hard to tell, with everything being in pieces. The Bionicle stuff should be relatively easy to identify though, but I don't know enough about that line to be of much help.

those actually help a lot. Definitely some Jack Stone, some Megabloks Spiderman, the black robot in the front is from the Collectible Minifigure Series, there are parts from the Toy Story green army men set, maybe Harry Potter from like 2002-2003, 2011 Ninjago, probably Exo Force and probably a rebel soldier battle pack (set 7668?) and pirates figures from 2009 I think (set 6239 fits, except for the pirate's head)

Thanks, thought it might be BrickArms but I guess it's nowhere I can get one easily. TT looks cool but I can't justify spending so much on a single firearm heh, can get a hundred guns for that price.

If Minifigcat ever did Halo I'd be all over it, but yeah BrickArms Halo stuff is what got me hooked on Lego-sized small arms. Had to arm some of my first-year MB Halo minifigs with those as they came with very few weapons of their own initially, though at the cost of some hands in the long run, heh.

Some of their weapons are a bit big yeah, particularly some of the sniper rifles and early long guns. SMGs and sidearms are pretty good tho, this guy is going to town with a pair of their Deagles (standing in for modified Beretta 92s heh).

Ok I need help:
I remember in. 2002-2003 LEGO magazine/catalog they partially recreated the Arena battle from Attack of the Clones, if my memory is correct they had the three arena beasts built from normal parts and not molds. Does anyone else remember this

Evening /lg/, trainfag here. I've had a few train bases laying around for a few years because I have no idea what I want to do with them. If y'all want element IDs and colors, they're 92339 in dark stone gray, and 87058 in light stone gray. I've got a custom built steam locomotive (pic related, is the loco) that's basically a modification & palette swap of the Emerald Night locomotive (made it into a yellow & orange 4-8-4 Northern w/o the steam deflectors & a larger tender), so I'm thinking I should use them as passenger cars. Would the grays work with the black, yellow, and orange scheme? What sort of reference designs can you send my way?

They've started doing that. There are plastic blisters of 3-4 minifigs and enough pieces for a small build, but they're overpriced imo. They have a few for Ninjago, City, etc. The City one is some divers, I think.

Not super rare, but I'd guess Max Rebo.

Actually out of curiosity, looked up rare lego figures, particularly Star Wars, and I do have a few other pretty expensive Star Wars figures kicking around my collection. And many of which have been parted out to other custom minifigures (like cloud city Luke Skywalker)
Most of them except for that chrome TC-14, not a lot of uses for chrome minifig parts.

I don't keep track of minifigs that are "collectable", just the ones with personal significance or nostalgia. It's not like I have any intention of selling my lego.

Yeah, but I think you have to realize that the 501st troop set comes with 3 normal guys for $30. Also people are gonna hypebuy the fuck out of it. ALSO, I bet it's gonna go the way of the Kashyyyk trooper where it goes from being a one-off figure from the sets that came out at the time of RotS, to coming out in a battlepack, and like 6 other sets.
My point is, I think 501st clones are gonna become one of those non-rare troops cause Lego is gonna stick them in a bunch of random sets. If you want a troop that will actually stay rare, look to the wolfpack, or even the red guys like you posted here.

I just don't see how it's gonna work. I mean, the playset $120ish one that came out in 2013 is already minifig scale and perfectly captures the gunship. I guess they'll add to the price by adding a bunch of tiles and making it the variant with the fully closing doors.

So I got a big bin of legos for cheap about half a year ago. Only thing is the fucker smoked and ALL the bricks reek of it, especially the rubber treads and tires. I gave them a bath in vinegar and baking soda a few times, but the smell still lingers. Havent touched them since. Any tips?

Exo-force had a good price to part ratio with a lot of medium to large sized parts, so they were able to fill a pretty large volume for a good price.
These days mechs are full of meticulous greebling detail which boosts the part count, plus more cynical round-up pricing and it's basically twice as much for a mech of similar size

The Legacy Samurai Mech is probably the most egregious example for this.
It's barely larger than one of the small Exo Force sets yet costs just as much as one of the standard sized mechs just because they threw in two skeletons.

that IS a nice build, especially the head/hat.
I was trying to put it together with real bricks earlier but can't find any parts that'll actually hold on to the handlebars. Maybe they're a bit undersized, so the minifig hands don't get too stressed?

Possibly. That would make sense. Those weird clip things "work" in stud because of the fact I don't have to worry about how well it sticks. Maybe you can swap the clips on the arms for an inverted disk and make it walk more like a Gorilla? Just to take the weight off the hind legs.

So to expand on this for other anon's because this anon is deliberately obtuse =
rifle must have a rifled barreled (threads on the inside that make the bullet spin as it's discharged, improving accuracy)
a musket is "smooth bore" meaning there is no rifling (hence not a rifle) which is why they were famously less accurate. Rifling a barrel was a little too technologically advanced for mass producing firearms during the musket era.

hey guys, it's that lotr anon from yesterday, got everything neatly categorized and sorted, here's a link for pics (set parts coming in just a sec);

if anyone is interested in buying, I calculated the value of it all by taking just the sets listed (posted yesterday here >>8094476) from average on bricklink then multiplying by x8, and came out to 700$. does that seem fair? In addition to the sets there's a fucking ton of minifigures (as the imgur link shows) and on top of that quite a few bits from other lotr sets, and on top of that nearly all of a broken tower of orthanc (saldy missing some of the middle level and top, see pics once they're up though)

I guess they made it bigger to save a little bit of money. Its cheaper to print less pieces that are bigger than more pieces that are small.

I think the people behind the show expressly refuse to give them an age, they're just meant to be teenagers forever.
Realistically, given the timeline of the show, they should probably be in their 20s by now, though. The only time any of their ages have really been mentioned is that Nya was 3 when her parents disappeared. That happened after Garmadon was banished, which means her age is 3+Lloyd's age. So I guess she was like 13 at the start. Kai and the rest of the ninja are a couple years above that, and some 6-10 years have to have passed since the start of the story, at a minimum. But they're still teenagers I guess.

Zane alone is an exception, he's like 50 or something because he's a robot.

So I got my hands on a copy of Brickvault's Countach instructions.

These idiots have no QC at all, I've had to fix three cases of stuff that doesn't actually fit together (including a point where a stud actually clips into another part) and I'm not even on step 50 yet.

Anyone want a cleaned up version when I'm done putting it together? (should also serve to obliterate any potential watermarking in the PDF).

Luckily I had a shit ton of the parts, I just needed some olive green pieces which didn't cost too much (the parts needed are pretty cheap, but I bought from a store in Slovenia)

Yeah, this doesn't bother me, but I know a lot of people dislike how low the doors sit compared to the minifig's legs. I'll keep making them this way though, because I love the way it looks

Sure do! I've replaced these lamps with better ones that have black shades and inset bulbs, but the basic principles of bounce lighting are the same.

These are the lamps I have now. "Boston Harbor TL-TREE-134-BK-3L 3-Light Adjustable Tree Lamp, 60 W, A19" I have two of them; the shades are all turned up (unlike this image).

The top two shades on each pole have a 15w/5000K/1500lm bulb, which are very bright and produce a light that's much cooler/ less yellow than standard lightbulbs.

The bottom shade in each pole has a UV bulb in it. This works well for me because my drafting table that I use for shooting is just below the level of the lowest shades, so I can have the UV lights turned on and sitting just out of frame for maximum glow.

UV lighting is different than regular lighting because you have to have the bulbs aimed directly at the scene.
