1, Transformers now has three lines, the main line (currently Cyberverse) the movie line (which at times supplants the main line as their primary selling point) and then generations
2, on top of that, Hasbro has switched to a more expensive packaging (boxes rather than blisters for most). This is most likely related to the reusability of it, as well as the good PR of switching to more ecologically friendly packaging.
3, paint job and parts count holy shit. Just look at Earthrise Optimus. He's got a lot more parts, a ton more paint, and not just that, but even some metallic paint. A similar factor has been going on for the movie lines.
Has generations been getting the short end of the stick? during the Prime Wars trilogy I'd say you had a point. But WFC is giving us extremely high quality figures by comparison
