I'm actually redundant with music, because various albums mix songs differently, so there is emphasis on various instruments or frequencies.
So i have like 230498092384 versions of the same song. And i keep backing that shit up as MP3s, because it's the only common format since the 90s that will be continued to be used. So i have various back up CDs/DVDs and a few HDDs dating back to the 90s as well. Yep, i still have HDDs from the 90s still working and I'm scared of losing those, despite those also being backed up.
As for books, I also mean comic books, and i'm trying to replace my floppies with trades, so this means that i forget if i bought a certain trade or not based on just if i read it or not (which i have, thanks to reading floppies). And with all the updated new trades, it also means those trades may be more "complete" than previous trades, that include more comics (side stories, back up stories, origin story, included as extras). So there's more overlapping and forgetfulness right there.
I also like to hoard shit before i actually start reading something, like say... Malazan Book of Fallen. I'll read the first book in the series and if i like it, I'll buy the rest of the series. I only then start reading the series after i forget what the first book was about. I won't buy everything at once though, so i bought an extra Book 5 once or twice.
Same shit when buying authors, like Hemmingway. I'll hoard up a few books, not reading them, and i forget if i bought a certain book or not.
For whatever reason, I dont forget buying DVDs/BDs, even though i hoard them before viewing them, the same way as books. I like buying hardcopies despite usually watching it first on netflix/crunchyroll/amazon/hulu/whatever.
