It looks like the white of the "bones" goes over the top of the 5 in the new fig, meaning that it probably is suppose to represent a bone decal/paint over the top of a regular shirt.

Greetings LG!

The Great Lego Space Quarantine contest of 2020 is underway.
The core concept is this: Design your own Space Theme. General guidelines are pretty loose, make something that could have served as a Space faction for LEGO in the late 80s and early 90s.
If you need inspiration and a sort of guide you can have a look at existing space themes from that period – Futuron, Blacktron, Ice Planet 2002, Exploriens, etc.
The rules:
1.Each participant may submit one build as an entry to the contest. A timestamp of your creation and the email I will then use to get in contact with you will be required if you end up winning. To submit just reply to this post with a picture that contains your build!
2.Modern parts and complex building techniques are allowed but the end result should look like something that could fit in with original sets and themes from that period. The idea is not to try to give the guys at Neo Classic Space a run for their money but instead attempt to do what the guys building the Space set prototypes from the 80s and 90s did.
3.Bonus points are awarded if the builds are stable and have play features (although these are not hard requirements they will help your build leap/zoom/swoosh ahead of the competition).
4.A submission consists of one build of any size. That means very small builds do qualify. I have decided to make this change at the request of a poster who asked for this last thread and presented solid arguments. There is no limit to how big you can go but this is not Shiptember. The emphasis should not be on number of parts but rather on the overall result.
5.Adding lore and backstory to your submission is strongly encouraged. Heck you can even make boxes and put the sets inside if you’re autistic enough. More effort is always better.
6.Digital builds are allowed but will start off with a severe disadvantage when judged.

Prizes: A prize pool of roughly 200USD will be split amongst 3 winners. Depending on how many people sign up there might be honorable mentions. Two of the winners will be chosen by me based on my own biased opinion. For fairness’ sake a third winner will be selected from the remaining submissions by a random draw.
Timeframe for submission: Until May 18th, 14:00 PM. After that I’ll be taking 1-2-3 to judge and announce the winners.
I will answer questions and provide other clarifications as needed. I will spam the contest just once per thread until the submission period is over.
The threads move so fast, I might not get a chance to post in every thread - contest is still going on!

In previous threads people have said they they might not have enough parts/ideas to create an entry.
I have posted this as a general guide as to what might constitute an entry for the contest despite having severely limited parts to use.
As you can see it isn't much more than a SeaTron astronaut and some small associated builds.
As long as the theme is visually coherent and you add maybe a bit of backstory and description of what the line might look like, even a build this small can qualify.
I hope this will allow more people to be able to give this a shot. I still haven't gotten any takers yet. We've got just a little over 2 weeks to go!

You make a fair point, I honestly did think about it but I consider that the chances of someone replicating your MOC and then attaching their contact info to that moc if that build ends up winning to be incredibly low.

The only thing is after we've established some form of contact I will not be mailing Legos but sending you the actual prize in monetary form as I've discussed first time around.

Note: I initially wanted to keep the prizes physical – but with the situation being what it is, shipping is very difficult. Also, different people enjoy different things and I think each winner is better off getting something they like (or need in these times of crisis) than receiving something arbitrarily picked by me that might or might not be relevant to them.

Hey, folks. I've been doing a little hunting for display solutions for this thing. I'm hoping to get it in the next couple of weeks, and I'm trying to find a good way of displaying it. I know of the Efferman stand, and whilst that is good, the place I want to store it would not allow for it to be displayed at a 3 or 9 o'clock position owing to width constraints.

I know a good portion of you despise license shit, and that's not really something I want to get into, but I was wondering if anyone here has come across a kind of stand that would allow for the mandibles to be at a 12 o'clock, vertical, position. Thanks, guys.

Insectoids came out right around when I started a lengthy hiatus from Lego; my brother had a couple of the sets but it wasn't until I got back to Lego some years ago that I've come to appreciate them as the last great Space theme. Built a couple Insectoid vehicles; a speedy spacecraft and lumbering mobile artillery crawler. In my universe the great Insectoid hives were shattered in a series of wars and cosmic disasters, with scattered remnants operating as mercenaries specializing in siege warfare.

For some reason I'm reminded of that Twilight Zone episode about the ocean liner full of elderly folk (and a young couple who boarded unknowingly) that is conveying everyone to the afterlife. All those happy-faced Lego people are calmly awaiting the train that will take them down the dark tunnel with light at the end, to Paradisa.

Or, it could be a subtle historical reference to the "black market" train disaster in 1944 Italy, where a severely overloaded passenger train entered a tunnel and stalled due to the grade, suffocating hundreds with carbon monoxide. Your guess is as good as mine, really.

Anyone have a dream theme? Mine is a budget theme for people who want to build a lego city with small buildings. Hidden Side is such a great theme for that with the Shrimp Shack and the lighthouse but it also has bunch of vehicles and it mixes alot of horror themes that bump up the price. I feel like Lego is missing this oppurtinity. Friends has nice buildings but they are all pastel colored buildings that won't fit with normal baseplates. Modular buildings are too expensive for teens-young adults to open a city with. Pic related but with everything sold seperately.

Dream theme would be a reimagined constraction that fits more with System. I know that's a bit heretical to System and constraction purists, but I feel like there's a lot of untapped potential. We have Mixel joints already, why not put them to use? Could be a nice budget theme to replace Mixels but get some of that engaging design work that Bionicle and Slizers had going on.

Xalax are so fun. My only one as a kid is lost within my family's tub of parts, but I bought a couple of them that I always wanted just last year. Think it's Warrrior, Loopin', and Gear? Something like that, but I really dig them. Would love to get a Ghost someday and just give them all mechsuits or something cool to just use the figs.

I still think it's hilarious that Friends of all themes gets the Mario Kart treatment. Their karts have stud launchers, spikes and flames just to begin with. The kart repair shop is pretty cool, with a sliding garage door and a full tool set.

that set comes up now and then and the common complaint is that it's 10 000 pieces in 9 000 colors so you can only make rainbow barf. I'd recommend grabbing some small City or Creator set, whatever grabs your eye, and using the big box to improve it, make an additional car or house or whatever.

I'm really partial to the series 3 geisha, definetly one of my all time favorites but I would say overall it's C-3P0. I love that he hasn't changed beyond better printing over the years and he's my favorite Star Wars character too. I have the keychain of pic related and I love taking him to all my adventures.

Here's one of my geisha at the science museum near me. My partner and I went when there was a lego exhibit and even though it was pretty lackluster they had a model of the city that was glued together, so I posed her in it! Kids loved the exhibit but pretty hard to not please them when they have buckets and buckets of loose parts.

I'm a huge fan of the classic smile too. I love when the modular series had nothing but them but I suppose they had to change it at some point. The wand is a really cute accessory too!! I love having a lego keychain because I don't need to worry about it falling out of my pocket and I take my keys everywhere, but you can't really pose him when he's got all these keys on his head.

I use this little case I found. I used to use an old film canister, but it collects lint like crazy. This new case also doesn't take up as much space as the film canister.

Well, I put that space halloween comic together last year. So I'm not just another "Star wars! xD" poster. But that set has been the object of my desires since 2008, so it really is one of those younger me goals. Plus I like stuff to be in scale as possible, so it really pleases my autism. Plus the geometry looks really interesting to me. It also opens up future MOC possibilities, too.

Don't limit yourself like that. You should also treat the non-expert creator sets as a basis to modify or use for a similar build.

Otherwise I have a similar desire since I like buildings. But the only non-service City buildings tend to be in the huge City sets where half of it is still vehicles and the color scheme for Friends is awful.
