The 1/18 joe line was infamously stalled when the second live action movie was delayed nearly a year. Unfortunately, the toys had already been designed to be released at the time of the original release date. The result was a bunch of toys lingering on shelves for a movie that wasn’t on kids radar ; to make matters worth Hasbro tried cutting the budget and removing articulation on a lot of the figures so they were even less appealing. By the time the movie was out, retailers hesitated on ordering more leaving them to go to close out stores.

This was my first storm shadow, my bro gave him to me and lamented he couldn't give me the first version. I saw v1 and hated it, this has always been my favorite iteration and the 25th first version of this was nearly perfect.

I went out and bought the 1:6 sideshow version too because I love it so much. If they make a good 1:12 of this guy with not joint marks like they plan on switching to, I will buy it immediately.

I agree, another thing that kinda turns me around on it is that he was basically the guy who made G.I.Joe since he wrote the series into fame and made all the file cards, so it's more or less his call how things go. Stormshadow is also my favorite joe, so he did a great job.

It was decent, and had some great designs. Made Cobra Commander more badass, made Firefly go abck to his roots, I think the most egrigious thing was Storm Shadow, Flint, and Ripcord.

Stormy was way outta character, Flint did nothing, and Steve Blum trying to doa high pitched black guy voice is embarrassing.

I don’t think kids are gonna have a chance at these for a while. They guy who lives below my apartment is the electronics department manager at our town Walmart. They have him now working nights and covering toys and 2 other depts besides electronics due to 7 employees out with the Rona and 3 deaths so far. He’s already had collectors fighting over the retro Ghostbusters and Star Wars. And he’s got about 8 people bugging him about the Joes. One guy grabbed the 2 cases that came in and tried to ring them up under Legends at the self check but got caught and they are blocked at register til 6/1. The next morning this guy walked straight up in their warehouse and took the cases out of the racks and hid them. They had to watch the security cameras to see where he hid them and now have them locked in the electronics cage.

With the neckbeards buying them for $100+ a figure already, I’m sure they’ll be scalped to high heaven when they hit the pegs.

I don’t mind these designs for the Joes that much. They pretty much look like a mix of many of their designs over the years mixed together. Plus I’ve been buying them since the first time I seen them on pegs so it’s good to get a different take on these characters.

There’s actually a lot of thought that went into these. The one knee pad or one elbow pad is things real soldiers use for balance when shooting. A lot of the people criticising them seem to have come around having them in hand. Now we’ll see if king shit talker, Retro Ass Blasting comes around on them. Oh no he was just getting them to help a friend out in Australia.

I don't have that guy in particular but I have a few other 4 inch Fortnite figures. The figures have good plastic, details and range of motion. They have a hole on their backs that is meant for backpacks, but they're also the right size for gunpla bases. The figures also have smaller holes on their feet and can connet to the squares they come with.
The cons are that the figures are ratchet-jointed, some joints are tight af, the elbows are limited by the sculpt, and the weapons are kinda small. You can solve the issue with the elbow by cutting a bit from around it. The guy you have in mind looks a bit limited around the shoulders too.

Man, there really is something hideous about the plastic Hasbro uses for non-TF figures. Kinda glossy but also pitted at the same time, like decayed rubber. A shame as the basic sculpt and engineering look great, but the material looks kinda awful. Also at the risk of sounding like Subjectanon I kinda wish some more details were painted, not talking McFarlane tier glopping everything with a thick coat of paint or anything but just a bit of breakup would be nice.

That said he still looks absolutely stellar for a Western figure. Also nice he has the balljointed waist and not the retarded cut swivel.

I think that's a bad idea. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow offer different things. One is a tacticool modern ninja while the other is a traditional ninja. They offer people two flavours of a popular thing to choose from, plus it further shows their clash. Making Storm Shadow more tactical would just turn him and Snake Eyes into a Spy vs Spy kind of thing.

I don’t have any issues with it on my exclusive one. And I doubt any issues with it can’t be fixed with some hot water. It shouldn’t be a deal breaker for you either way, though. It’s just a knife.

Hey retard, Comic Con was cancelled AFTER ToyFair 2020. That didn't affect them revealing Destro on a random fucking Monday or whatever day it was, and they still held off their sweet time on retail Snake Eyes to a point where many people in the U.S. before Hasbro would acknowledge it.

Building the hype train is one thing, but turning things into a slow trickle with no info also kills it. We all know Cobra Commander and Baroness are coming, they could have at least had them to make ToyFair less barren.

For Christ's sake we already know Wave 3 has movie Snake Eyes and movie Storm Shadow. At this rate everything's just going to get leaked before Hasbro even announces it.

What happens with this line? Everyone gets the four main heroes from wave 1, and after wave two they’ve got Destro, CC, Baroness, and potentially Storm Shadow. And maybe Wild Bill too, judging from the poster.

What’s left that you would buy?
Army builders?
Classic versions of those same characters?
Repaints, like Pimp Daddy Destro or a hooded CC?
Any other characters from the 80’s lines?

Maybe a squad of Cobra Troopers, depending on how they look. Firefly possibly too. Really though, I'm all about Commander and Baroness. Hooded Commander is basically just a headswap, so I see no need for a separate figure. Alt Baroness, likely only if the alt outfit is sexier. I'm not even sure about Destro. He looks fine, don't get me wrong. I just have an arms dealer in 1/12 for my collection already. Perhaps they could use a competitor for Cobra's business.

No real interest in any Joes, unless Storm Shadow catches my eye and he needs a rival in Snake Eyes.

That's why 1:18th is better, after doing these characters in 6 inch you are left with nothing, with the 1:18th scale you could get away with army building and vehicles and bases.

I kinda feel like Hooded CC will be its own release as no one has had swappable heads yet. Considering CC looks like he has regalia on, perhaps a hooded figure will be more casual Friday at Cobra

I would army build regular cobra troopers cause I don't want to army build every specific variant of vipers. Exceptions are that I would army build Night Vipers too for night tacticool reasons, and I would also army build Range Vipers to double as Shadaloo Troopers for the Street Fighter Figuarts.

Just so you know, Hasbro has had a policy to reveal things over various conventions over the year. They used to just do big announcements at SDCC and Toy Fair, but they've been doling it out over other events for about a year now.

Same shit with exclusives. SDCC used to be the only time to get them, but now they're doing other events, including Toy Fair.

It should be noted that figures or other toys marked as ‘MV’ are movie based toys.

Most of the entries are coded to hide the identity of the characters, but it is clear that ‘Tarantula’ is Snake Eyes.

one guy does not reflect the entire population he is descended from. Now, the Snake Eyes character seems to be pretty respectful of Asian culture, especially since his identity as a White foreigner is recognized and central to his rivalry with Storm Shadow. Nevertheless, the trope is toxic.

Personally, I could go either way. If the movie went out of its way to appologize for the racist trope, I think it would be fine to leave him White. There is no reason not to make him Asian American, though, and split the difference
