Got the Joy Toy's police set a couple of days ago and I'm surprised that they started including cases again.
Their last couple of figures came in simple cardboard boxes. They originally came in plastic cases that doubled as crates/seats.

Now they came with stands and includes a display case. Their boxes are nicely designed too (these 6 boxes came in a larger cardboard box).

Joints are kinda loose, but they still hold whatever pose you want. I've been cleaning up their overuse of wash with alcohol so they look less cartoony.

Definitely want to buy more.

oh, and i already broke one of the holsters by forgetting they're not rubbery Hasbro plastic when trying to insert the gun into it.

Easy fix though, since i can just glue it back in but the "peg" is a little too shallow.

Yup. Would be nice if we had some good quality 1:18th scale SF figures. I'd kill for a thicc Chun Li and Cammy.

Speaking of IPs that need 1:18th releases. What other IPs do you guys want in 1:18th scale? Metal Gear Solid comes to mind and I would love Warhammer 40k in this scale.

Revol Minis come close to scale but my MGS V Snake has a fucky arm, the Russian soldier is useless, Snake is pretty fun if you can find one, and Cyborg Ninja is fucking awesome but you’re going to get scalped like crazy

MGS is a good choice. I would like the whole predator cast (come on hiya), Rambo 3, the whole 21st century/Bbi releases but on modern 4inch figures, I would like sportsmen and sport playsets in 1/18, a half basketball court with the 96' Bulls and phil jackson for example; I would like to see prettier female faces and figures but also ugly non-body builder figures. I also would live to see some figures based on Rome Total War 2, Medieval Total War 2 or ancient warriors in general.

I didnt even notice my picture was in the thread picture until you pointed it out.

I got the body, head, and hands from marauders, the only thing I did was paint a mustache on.

Nice customs. What is the recipe on the female? Do you have a closer/clearer pic of her?

Nice pics but the figures get lost with the busy background. They would look better with closer shots of the figures. Just a suggestion. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks, happy for the input. I line action scenes but there's no good nature areas close to me for pictures so I can only take good ones when I drive a ways.

I used the female blue bossfight blank, the hair is like 2 or 3 different hair pieces from avatar characters. Same place o sources a pointer ear. Jacket from jyn erso, bossfight belt (cant remember what set that belt is from) the skirt is actually a Yoda figures originally. Her weapon holster is a chain with a bossfight skeleton hand. I will get some better shots of her posted

Anyone have any idea where I can just buy the gun? I have no need nor do I want such a hideous figure. I was thinking of buying it JUST for the game and a possible headswap, but once again, the costume of the figure is just soo ugly and this figure/gun isn't worth 6 dollars in my eyes. I would of bought it if it was 2 dollars or below.

I dont have as elaborate of a setup as the other anon, but I just got my mighty steeds and I wished I PO'd more. With JP dinosaurs, horses, canines, GI Joes, Star Wars, Aliens, BFS Fantasy, Marauders, random vehicle sets etc this scale is the most fun to mix and match.

Each box contains has a really nifty display case. Stand is the case's top and you can flip it over so that the figure can stand inside the case.

Well worth the $18 per figure, which included this super fucking fast shipping.

six stands + case, btw. So out of the six boxes., one box contains just accessories inside the display case instead of a figure.

Check out the Mythic Legion thread every week or so. The 4H have at least one or two troll SKUs that they have in the warehouse and they will have an in-stock sale eventually after corona is over (otherwise they're gonna keep racking warehouse rent).

paid less with priority shipping for them there than i did with bbts with their cheapest shipping. smalljoes took 3 days to get it shipped to me. bbts took over 10 days.

Accessories and dioramas are the reason I love this scale so much. You can build an entire city for figures!

Here are alternative accessory brands you can look into:

The DJ set, veggie market stall, vendo machine and ATM are all from playmobil. They a little short for 1/18 but scaled correctly otherwise, so what I do is put a little riser (see the DJ booth) to fix this.

The sofa and piano set are from Sylvanian Families. Almost everything they have fits 1/18. Especially for 3.75 figs. 4 inch figs can stand on the door ways of the sylvanian houses, but thats the only downside.

The firepit, trashcan and small cargo boxes are japanese capsule toys. Brands like Epoch and Re-ment make 1/18 scale pieces.

Finally, the green sofa is a scratch built piece I made. Made of rubber foam parts but you can easily make that with wood.

Ive been using rechargeable batteries for the lights. They are the remote control operated type so Im guessing they always draw power, the batts die after weeks even while turned off.

They wont recharge either, I gotta jump start them.

So favorite Indy line?

Between Awotk, DnL, Boss fight and Marauder. I've got to give it to DnL for the amount of detail and accuracy put in the line pushes the boundaries in the way that the poc-50th G.I.Joe did, But AwoTK might be the most fun line out there bright colors, fun accesories and Jason is really trying to make this line work. Marauder is king but them being sold out 60 percent of the time is kind of making me sad,that being said They are perfect I've never had a bad dealing with them. Boss Fight is amazing when they aren't being spread too thin but they for the most part deliver a great product that I legitimatly believe we wouldn't get otherwise.
all have there pros and cons but given the fact a lot of these guys are making toys for the first time i expected a lot worse than what we got.

I like Marauders because they are consistent and have very good customer support. Bossfight... well, I was into the hoplites but then they went fantasy and that is not really my thing. I do want a couple horses though. Is hiya indy enough? I think they don't have a website only twitter. They have some cool licenses and their figures are cool looking if a bit fragile.

Hands down Acid Rain

Articulation and design is superb (with the new manufacturer, quality is improved too). I had 4 foresetti's break on me with Oritoy. They used shit rubber plastic crap.

The new bodies are much sturdier and aren't as fragile as joytoy-level. The only downside is price. Each acid rain character is 25$ MINIMUM, with some 30-40$. Increase that by 20-50% to buy at some local importer/importing yourself.

They also lack availability, the old ones are out of production, the new ones are future far away, you can always only buy a small selection of "presently" released models.

Acid Rain always looked cool but I can't get over the heavy wash on everything. It makes it look like comic art but it in my opinion doesn't look great outside of that aspect.

The price is rather high, but the figures I actually liked (see >>8135026) are great. I like the futuristic styling on the Omanga troops, the weathering is pretty nice for mass produced toys, and I love the ability to swap out limbs for the robotic drone ones. Their vehicles/mechs are also pretty darn cool, the Laurels are some of my favorites.

And even though I personally don't really like handling the basic ground troops, I mean, I get it. Their grimy gasmasked futuristic-WWII aesthetic is something that I think strikes a lot of people as cool.

It's awesome but it's not really true 1/18 scale. It comes with a marine figure which is supposedly 1/18 but is way smaller than other 1/18 figures. So fitting GI Joes or Joytoys or whatever in there is a bit of a job but can be done. It's yuuuge and it's both a playset and a vehicle with detailed interior, working lights and screens etc. Not sure how long I'll keep it, maybe six months.

Yes, both revolve, although the front one has limited range of movement and the top one slides down on rails. The command seat is also on a rail to slide back and forth in front of the monitors. There is a gunner's station at the front with controls for the turrets. I'll post more shots tomorrow if anyone wants.

Besides, real samurai didn't have very good freedom of movement in all that armor. What did you think, they were on some Ryu Hayabusa shit?

That's the best price I've ever seen for them. I've had my pre-orders in with BBTS for months with no joy so fuck that. I'm in touch with the creator of the line and things are starting to move. Basic figures are being built at $26 each. That is VERY good since they include basically everything but the plate carrier. Limited to four figures each (I tried to order ten lol). Plus postage of about $25-30 for the four combined that's pretty sweet. Only problem is there seems to be only one head sculpt available - Amy - of which I have several already.
All I need now are the Virginie and Mind Controller figures.

I think 5 or 6 units is good for a small army. Most toy photography shots that show detail can only fit around 6 figures anyway.

Hi guys, Im currently making a new building for my diorama.

Its the tallest tower at the back with blue stripes "design". Its supposed to be cyberpunk-esque office tower - just to fill up the background.

Question, is it better to keep the stripes blue or should I make it yellow? I can't decide if the blue is too jarring.

Why not make it an actual building you can access from behind? Replace the blue stripes with actual blue tinted plastic. Fill it with various suit wearing figs and you got your universe corporates.

The interior space is too small. It would look weird inside. To make a playset with full interiors - you need to make it really big.

Balancing the size is quite hard. I made the buildings slightly smaller to fit a full skyline in one shot.

I only have 2 buildings with fully made interiors due to the size requirement. Karma Club the bar and the red light district with an apartment room on top.

For WOO, the hands suck. The elbow joint feels really fragile and the hands can barely hold the guns but not as bad as 25th joes.

For joytoy, their quality improves every release but they still have loose joints. Joints are much stronger now than old releases and they pack in extra joints too, just in case.

I tried to make Leon using BFS blank head and some spare marauder parts, but he looks like a crackhead lol.

I think the underlying face sculpt on the BFS blank is too old, with the cheek crevices and splin chin. I'm wondering if you guys know a younger, more handsome 1/18th character that is either bald (so I can sculpt the hair) or already have Leon like hair. I don't mind some 5POA figures because I just want the head.

I think it has to be with contracts or how the vendors agree with the company or importer to sell the toys. No agreement = no toys on the shelfs. But the company M&C seems to be doing fine, they didn't even sell online to private buyers only bulk but that changed like 2-4 years ago and now you can order directly from them.

It's actually an adapter for the lower torso. To join the newer upper torsos to old-style lower torsos.

If you disassemble Darvold's torso you will see the new style joint in the lower torso.
