Follow the guide in Gunpla general to get a lot of the basics, get a nice pair of nippers to cut the parts off the runners, a hobby knife and sanding papers to get the nubs nice and smooth. That is a Megami Device, and it is recommended to sand down the joint pegs a little bit because the fittings are tight to reduce risk of breakage from reposing.
BUT, the most important warning of all. Once you start building a model kit, you don't want to stop. It's very zen experience to build it, and a good feeling of accomplishment that you built something. Slippery slope man, but I don't regret having gotten into it.
