I think its because you can bookmark searches, and mercari notifies users that have bookmarked “finalfantasyvii” or “adventchildren”. It’s also all local, so you’re not likely to find sellers from China selling cheap bootlegs.
I also sold a few anime wall scrolls within the same day of listing. I don’t know if it was just luck, or that there are diehard weeaboos still out there
One thing I like about mercari is that they only take 10% of what you sold. Your funds are linked to your bank account, so there’s no extra fees from PayPal
