Visually I think they're borderline identical. Construction wise...95% there. As far as chinese bootlegs go, they're really solid. However, I will say that you're best sticking to their KOs, not their "originals". They try their best but they clearly don't have the same engineering and design skills as TT.

The only discernible difference I can tell in the power suits is that the nubs sometimes seem worse than official Diaclone. But the MFT Waruders are supposedly slightly underscaled, something barely noticeable like 95% or something like that.

In that image, the waruder on the right is the KO. I heard that rumor that they were underscaled too but I can't see it and they go together fine.

For a governor:
Early Governor Vol.1 or 2 have tons of extras and really get you bang for your buck. They're a little generic soldier though, so if you prefer something more eccentric, Monoceros or Quetzal.

For a vehicle:
Bulkarms are well loved, if a little generic compared to all the robot animals. Agnirage or Wind Fall are big and have great presence with their giant wings. Abyss Crawler is also good fun because crabs are cool.

The biggest difference you'll find is between the "Seasons" ie the different runs. The initial first run of Governors have a lot of rubber parts, a lot of prepainting, and some issues like easily falling off hands or ankles being a bit weird. The newer versions, ie the 1.5s or the ones I recommend are more solid overall.

In terms of them fitting into the vehicles, the base figures always fit fine. Some of the ones with big armor like Bianco (might be misspelled) might have issues but the armor can be removed piecemeal to work as you need.

The plastic quality is good, I've never had it crack or break or anything else. Its on par with Bandai to me at least.

In terms of them being model kits....don't worry about it too much. The way they're made, you really don't need to put any effort into them to have them look good. Especially the vehicles. Those look great out of the box.

Well, personally I never sand anything. I use the nippers to cut the nub and then use a hobby knife to shave off the remaining bit. I think it produces fine results.

The actual black part of the tire is rubber, while the inner part is plastic. The rubber parts come separate and are placed on the rim. Here's an example.

It doesn't look anything close to the Diaclone style, which sorta makes sense--a lot of their more outgoing Powered Suit designs also don't match the official line, but they're smaller so they're easier to overlook/forgive.

Despite avoiding ordering from china for years, I'm biting the bullet and ordering from one of the better chinese sellers. Do any of the MFT Power suits or pilots have any real issues? I remember reading their Diabattles Cosmo version was awful (even the Dianauts were bad) but I haven't seen anything bad about the KO's.

I've heard some of the older kits are a bit shitty, though. Is there a certain cut-off I should be wary of? Like a certain date or kit where I should avoid anything before it?

The older HUMANS are looked down on because they had some prepainted rubbery parts that scratched off easily and ironically, didn't take paint well. And honestly, I think that was kind of limited to the first two Governors, I don't remember any rubber after that. Plus, those two got 1.5 versions later without the rubber.

The mecha/vehicles have been solid since the start IMO. Rayblade was literally one of the first releases and is still among my favorites from the line. Pretty much everything I've built from Hexa Gear has been great.

I heard MFT Cosmos Battles has weak hip-to-thigh connectors that break easy. Fortunately that deco has been KOed by another company called Diamond Cyclone and it seems theirs may be comparable to the official release.

For the powersuits, their main issue is the fitting of the 3mm ports and pegs. Their tolerances are inconsistent and are subject to mold-wear. I'd recommend learning how to loosen and tighten these pegs and holes when going into the KOs, especially when you want to do modular-stuff with those 3mm joints.

"Fresher" uses of the molds have less of these issues. On the Waruder suits for example, I only had to tighten the clear tail-cannon on the Purple Cathode Suit, every other peg and hole is just right.

Yeah, Diaclone is quite small for the price. I paid like $200 for my Battle Buffalo and he's maybe like...8 inches tall? He's around the size of a MG Gundam. Still a very cool and satisfying toy, but this is generally not the line to go for if you're looking for big impressive display pieces.

Got my power suits today. They're both fine, but the hips for the Dianauts are a bit to tight, any tips on what to use? I've heard lube but I'm not sure what type of lube works well on plastic. The only lube I currently use is WD-40 and I'm certain that won't work for this.

Sort of related, this was the new Waruder mech that kicked off the second Waruder invasion for the Diaclone reboot. For some bizarre reason, this didn't get a toy. Note that this is not Gigantor, in story they're weak enough that Dia Battles V2 took many of them out.

Some of those transformations are impressive as fuck.

In my opinion Diaclone's best "signature trick" is the way certain parts slide over to other modules without partsforming, via connected tracks. Double "wow" moment for me when the dino belly + tail both did that after a 180 degree torso flip.

It's hard to say. The power suits are nice, but yes, they're expensive that's a given. Dai Battles is a pretty great, but the main issue is that the first release has a few issues, so you should try picking up either the Cosmo Battles version, or any release after the Alpha version (I believe the prototype Lunar version was before they added any improvements). Be warned that there's demand for the newer one's, so they can get pricey. Big Powered Destroyer is also an excellent first choice, the originals great, but the second release adds many new weapons, more dianauts (which is great, since it's enough to spread around most of the vehicles if you leave don't leave one in the power suit), and looks fantastic.

I like the waruder stuff more than diaclone stuff in terms of playing with it. But if you prefer the Diaclone stuff, I'd say the battle buffalo is best if you can get it. Big powered is honestly better, but its also expensive as heck.

They are tiny, but like the Diaclone line as a whole, they are extremely impressive. I sometimes just marvel at how many joints and how much engineering they've stuffed into such a small package. It's really a marvel of small-scale super articulation. I would really recommend picking up at least one KO power suit to check it out (make sure to get a KO of an official Diaclone design, some of MFT's original designs can get a little wonky and I wouldn't want you to have a bad first experience).

All of Diaclone is like this. It's extremely expensive but also super well crafted. Some of their engineering and gimmicks really blew my mind. I am notoriously stingy, so I never would have gotten into this line if it weren't for the KOs. Now I am 100% a believer and am buying official Diaclone.

Rihio Multiabyss can be found on Aliexpress, maybe eBay as well now. 30 Minute Missions can be bought on HLJ, Amiami, Hobbysearch, etc. But shipping from Japan is kind of a shitshow right now so I'd recommend you just buy from Amazon instead. The prices there aren't bad and you will get your kit in a timely fashion instead of in a few months.

And uhhh, yeah, both are pretty easy to get into, just be aware that they're pretty much both snap-fit kits. 30MM is made for beginners in fact so you're good. Go to the Gunpla/Plamo General and read the OP post if you want some tips for a first-timer.

The blue on its shoulders should have been transparent to match the cockpit bubbles. Small complaint but at Diaclone prices there’s no excuse for cutting corners.

I still think the beast/claw modes are uselessly ugly, but it’s kinda neat how its arms peg together to become a shoulder pad.

Those two are the biggest figures from the original Diaclone line, and they are still massive compared to most of the new figures. He may not be the biggest toy in the world, but he's the biggest Reboot Diaclone so far. And He's also the biggest, best articulated godzilla esque figure I know of. Monsterarts figures are nice but they're tiny in comparison.

Overall I think he's a good size, since he's big but not so big he doesn't easily fit on a shelf.

Destroyer is different, but not hugely so. The differences are basically
1. Different hands, this time articulated fingers instead of pointy cannon fingers
2. Different shoulders, with rotating turrets instead of jet intakes
3. Different head, with moving visor instead of face changing
4. Different parts on top of the legs, big gun like things instead of the crane arms.
5. Different hip and shoulder guns.

So its more than just a repaint, but also not a huge difference. The core figure is still the same, its just little bits here and there that are different. I prefer destroyer though.

The only release between figures that felt different enough in terms of mold reuse was the Cosmo Maneuver Dai Battles, but then they sold the Cosmo parts for regular Dai Battles and Red Lightning so they aren't that special anymore.

I found a few places to get the DA-1 Dai Battles for cheap. What problems did that version have? I haven't found any pics online of the wing issues (really want those pics since I want to know what part of the wing breaks), only the peg issue on one of the small jets.

Never heard of the wing issue. The peg issue might be referring to one of the cockpit connectors. It is cast out of the same blue plastic that produces stress marks easily. I've never actually seen it snap but they fixed this regardless buy changing the design on the Alpha Plus reissue.

For sure. If this was the final product with no add-ons I'd say all it's good for is an articulated form of a robot (perhaps for drawing or something). It's basically the Frame of a Frame Arms. That said though, the knees and elbows clearly bend in a way to allow space for armour bits, as well as the movement on the shoulders. Plus the tiny "head" (perhaps it'll be like the brain of the units,as it's almost certain that a head will go on top of it).

I'm excited to see how it'll look with those additional armour bits. Based on the gun it seems like it'll be more of a modern take, but I'm all for some fantasy type elements too. Definitely intrigued and excited to see more.

It is a bit on the short side (though with attachments it should bulk up a fair bit), about the size of a 1/12 human, but I guess that seems to kind of be the point based on that small story snippet.

So I just got DA-22 in the mail today, as my first Diaclone figure (I'm eating that Cosmo edition figure, but 200 is pricey for this month) and I wanted to get the combat chronicle sets.
However I went and ordered the MFT versions off eBay.
Does MFT have any significant quality drops to warrent the 20 bucks I save per figure? (I grabbed the river and wing jet)

MFT is fine for the most part. IIRC their Cosmo Battles should be avoided, it has some issues, but most of their other shit is fine I think. Some people say their Battle Suits have loose joints from mold overuse, but I have yet to encounter this and I have a ton of the things now.

One criticism I can give is that their original designs are sometimes not in line with the Diaclone aesthetic, and sometimes feature kinda thick paint. It's not a huge deal though. I'm like 95% happy with all my MFT stuff, and that's not too shabby.

I just couldn't justify spending 40-50 bucks for a mold of rotors and tank treads. I might pick up some of the clear battle suits though, they look snazzy.

Is Hexa Gear known for being delicate? I bought two and they both have issues with the hands staying in the sockets and along with the arms. Makes it really hard to do any actual poses or to even get them to hold a weapon without the hand coming off.

Are those the 1.5? Mine are currently packed up in a tackle box, in a bigger box.
The 1.0 was way worse, but as of late they haven't been that bad with the newer models. Though it does happen to all of the Governors.
I've heard rumors that it's due to the fact that if they gripped better, the hands would rip at the balljoint, so I'm fine with just being careful. Id rather have them pop out whilst posing then actually destroyed.
That issue is solely on the Governor's though. I haven't had any issues with any kits that I own.

Oh, also a question, does anyone have experience with Speedpak? I tried seeing if it's experiencing delays due to Corona, but came up with nothing. Both my MFT sets were shipped by it.

oh, that is a great shipment.
And yeah, the candy toys definitely feel cheaper, the stickers are what annoys me the most. A lot of mine are slowly peeling off now. However I love the building potential, especially with the latter sets.
But if you've got Anubis I'd say you've got the best set already, even if it's weaker on the modularity side it's got the most coherent Gestalt, imo.

Your cheapest bet is starting with used MG Gunpla, or Voyager class Transformers. Both will give a pretty good balance of articulation to price. Everything else I can think of is gonna get pricey.

But to answer your question, Moderoid's color separation is pretty good. I think they come with pre-painted parts too. You'll just be missing the panel lines and the flat-finish, things you can easily learn how to do yourself by practicing on cheaper gundam kits.

I own a few Moderoids. They're nice kits. There were some nice surprises like coated plastic (high gloss) and prepainted parts. Most everything important was molded in the correct color--I only had to do minor detail painting, and I think they would have looked totally acceptable even without it. Just slap some panel lining and topcoat on it, I think it'll look great.

Well, I still think plamo is a good bet (doesn't have to be Gundam, there are plenty of companies making very different stuff) because there are so many different body shapes represented. For example, you could even go for something as bulky as an Alteisen, and remove/add parts until you get to somewhere good.

You can even go way less humanoid proportions. This probably isn't what you're looking for, but I'm just using it as an example to say that there is a LOT of variation in body type/silhouette in the world of model kits. You have a lot to work with there, honestly.

If given the choice between all of those vs Gigantor, Gigantor 100%. The tri series is ok, with digger being best, but its underwhelming for the price. Waruders are fun because you can do so much with them, but Gigantor is just on another level. I've got him here on my desk and just move posing him. Compared to something like big powered, he's SUPER posable. Big feet, good ankles, good range of motion means he can get into all sorts of poses and feel very stable.

Gigantor isn't perfect, but he's damn close to it.

Oh and don't go through TFsource or Big bad. Use Amazon jp. Its cheaper and faster.

Shit I broke and dipped into savings to order it, between the time that I had looked till now 3 more had been sold. After shipping it only was USD 329.89. Should be here in a week based off the premium shipping.

The only question I really have is if there are any really delicate parts that I need to watch out for, and if it has anything that comes on sprues.
The Sky Jacket I got already has a crack in one of the joints, but it's in a very tight section so I'm not surprised.

Looking at it...nothing that stands out as "I gotta be careful with this or it might snap off". In terms of just weak or fiddly things... The balljoints on the tail are a bit too weak for my liking out of the box. The crotch cockpit is easy to accidentally flip open depending on how you handle the figure. Probably the worst (and still nothing but a nitpick) is the connection between the upper arms and the power arms. Its a little too loose and it doesn't snap in or ratchet, so with the weight of that sword tail, it can have problems holding it horizontal.

Don't get me wrong, its still a plenty strong enough connection, it doesn't fall off or anything, but its just not quite snug enough for everyone. However, this can easily be fixed by just popping out a pin, removing the purple inner liner of the arm, and then putting it in hot water. After letting it soften up a bit, stick the upper arm and wrist pegs (or a long peg made using extender pieces from other waruders) in there and strap some rubber bands tightly to the outside. That way when the piece cools and constricts/hardens back up, it does so in a tighter configuration. After that fix, no one has had any issues as far as I know.

But again, these are nothing but nitpicks. The figure is wonderfully huge and chunky and solid, with nothing on it feeling fragile. Nothing on sprues either

i have a lot of real diaclone but have had good experiences with KOs as well
biggest difference i've noticed is they KOs have a slightly shinier finish while the TT are a bit more matte... feels (due to the look) a little cheaper but doesn't seem lower quality
it's evident in the waruders in this pic, one on the right is KO.
you can only tell side-by-side, my cosmo marines KOs look a little different next to real cosmo marines. hard to tell with yours in this pic but the bottom one at least i think is genuine TT? top one not sure and no idea on the black one as i dont own that suit in black
the tan/grey color is noticeably lighter in the KOs, like for the original color gyro-thing pack

I can imagine that to be the case, I was just fiddling with the M.S.G. kit they officially come in, and I don't care for how it looks with DA-22. But I might just be showing favoritism to the sky jacket due to the extra armor making the wings look complete.
I should pull the rest of the add on kits out and see how it looks with some Hexa gear weapons

Also, I realized I'm in idiot. Whenever I've been saying BugHead, I've actually been referring to the RaptorHead. I don't know how I got those mixed up.

Also something cool I discovered on accident, I don't have to use Amazon.jp from a browser, the app lets me change countries and keep both accounts signed in. The Gigantor just shipped by DHL, and the link in the email force switched my app.

How/where do you do this? And are you on iOS/Android (dunno if that matters but figured I'd ask to be safe)? It'd be great to be able to use the app, it's a pain to go through the browser every time.

I'm on Android, but looking at my wife's iPhone it's pretty much the same. Go to Settings, then Country and Language. Just change the country (in this case, Japan) and boom now it's Amazon.JP.
It'll still need the JP account, but it'll stay logged in to your US account whenever you switch it back and forth

I agree. Dia Battles is cool, but feels like such an archetypal 70s super robot. I don't have anything else that looks or feels like BB though. It's so cool I can't stop myself from picking it up and fiddling with it when I pass by.

Sanding isn't a problem for me as I do that for every piece that I cut off a runner (hence why I take forever to work on a Hexa gear kit, God the hand cramps), but if a piece like the claw ring snaps, then ooooh shit I'm not gonna be happy.

Luckily that's the first I've read about it, and that thread is pretty old. I wonder if there's been any more issues besides that.

If it's more common than I think I might actually just order that one from TFSource just in case I have to reach out to them.

30 bucks honestly doesn't sound unreasonable to me.
If the pics on BBTS accurately show what it comes with, the base wall/floor and the removable armor are worth the full price, at least when I compare it to HG Gundam of around the same price.
But then again plastic quality is a big matter as well that would affect my judgement

There are larger third party figures, so its entirely possible that they might want to make something bigger. But honestly, I'm happy about these sizes. Maybe a bit bigger. But anything substantially larger becomes pretty unwieldy and hard to store, least to me.

I just like combining figures a ton, so I just like thinking of a figure like BPDest, but made up of more than just 5.

But that's fair on the storage aspect. Price point is also a hard consideration, as until I was tipped off about Amazon.JP (Still loving this, about to pick up the whole Ryusoulger line for just 200 USD after conversion, holy fuck), I couldn't warrent the money for one figure. So if a 500$ figure dropped I'd probably never get it.

There's two larger toys from the original line that still haven't been produced. The largest one is literally the face of the franchise and even made an appearance in the 4 minute commercial showing off all the current toys. I can easily see it being as expensive as Unicron, maybe more.

There's a limit to how feasibly big robot toys can get in my opinion. I had the Threezero Titanfall robots that are practically 1/12 bots, they're massive. But that also made them a tiring chore to pose and set up. You don't really want to interact with them too much because it turns into a huge ordeal. I guess if you just want a display option, that's fine, but with all those joints and such it feels like a waste. I think Diaclone is hitting a great medium with their bigger stuff, which is something like DX sentai size--big but still manageable and looks great on a desktop. That said, a huge one that you can dock your big powereds on, that'd be great.

Unrelated, I watched the four ad from Takara, and realized they showed the Prototype Dia Battles using a Cosmo Battles pack (backpack is still white but had color matching arms) , so that's another color variant we don't get.

I agree with this, my larger ThreeA bots generally get left on a shelf and barely messed with, they're just unwieldy. Sure do look great in a display though.

It's the smaller bots that end up on my desk or nightstand that I fiddle with all the time. I find that more enjoyable nowadays, and I've got my fill of display pieces already.

Huh, I guess I can understand that. The closest I have to large figure would probably be Hexagear Agnirage, unless you count Lego Dino Attack Helicopter. (Biggest thing I can recall that I currently own)

But that's where the fact that it seperates into smaller components draws me in.

While there definitely are some OG Diaclone bots that are bigger, they're also basically bricks. With how complex and high quality these figures are, there's a limit to how big they can realistically get and actually be marketed to any significant audience. They're already quite pricey, so I don't know how many people would fork over 500-700 bucks for one. Even I'd really think twice about it unless its just like... amazing.

I also far prefer waruders to dianauts, especially now.

Some joints use polycap which is ideal, but in other cases where they don't use them then the joints are neither tight nor loose. Golden rule to never paint joints though.

The nico version, but the quality is pretty bad. Black has arm guards with blades or pincers on them, sand colors has the missile pods, yellow has arm guards with built in guns, and the greenish one has the large back cannon with energy pack or something.

I really think they should show the powered suits some more love, as they're actually really cool to me. More add ons like the Motorcycle form from Combat chronicle would be lit.
