Joe line for kids called G. I. Joe:Secret Missions. The toy line is just like Star Wars:Mission Fleet toys, each vehicle will come with a character. Designs inspired by War on Cobra game and evergreen Joe designs used for Classified. Release this fall.

They continue the Retaliation style figures, the new figures are done for swapability. 4 playsets and atleast 12 vehicles from bikes to hisstank and ships are coming. Cobra Mamba is coming back for the kids line. The packaging for the new figures will be very stylised, more like Ghostbusters Afterlife figures in a way. Snake Eyes will be on the boxes.

Gonna post a list for the new figures line later Today once I have more time, Hasbro choose to name them the "Legacy Collection". For example, you buy a legacy Snake Eyes or Duke. They will have a mix of ARAH designs, modern and Snake Eyes movie, the line is done tp blend in well as Hasbro doesn’t want to do big separate lines again, all under the G. I. Joe name umbrella with small sublines. A list for G. I. Joe:Secret Missions will be posted right after.

Designs based on ARAH but modernised for use on all Joe media for brand synergy. They did it to Transformers, pic related is evergreen Optimus Prime, he is the base for all the future incarnations of the character. We apparently will get that dollar store type figures with the evergreen designs too.

Release date of the Snake Eyes toys is august but with the virus things are bad, Paramount is telling Hasbro that they aren't moving the release date and they can't. Hasbro has the whole line on the back of the film, they don't want another Retaliation. Expect reveals at best around late june and early july. More stuff should leak when the Snake Eyes trailer releases, Paramount will use a hard marketing by releasing the trailers close to the release to hype it up. Snake Eyes has a small budget compared to the last two films so it should become a success.

I already preordered the good figures: Duke, Destro, and Snake-eyes.

Scarlett looks strange to me, I don’t know... too sci-fi or something. Duke’s weird cyber boots are bad enough.

I prefer the original ‘84 look when it comes to Roadblock, never liked his ‘86 incarnation. I still remember when I was a kid and my friend had the original Roadblock and I was stuck with the inferior one. No thanks.

Those are some generous grandparents! I guess my parents spoiled me because I had a whole bunch of the classic figures and vehicles but my grandparents thought toys were sillly and always got me clothes. For some reason my grandma made two exceptions... one of them being Chuckles. I guess it just ensured Chuckles was among my favorites as a result.

Joe toys will be available in Europe, as to the O-ring repos, I have no idea, but they've said over and over again, when the line was cancelled a few years back, that Joe was hard to market in other countries. It's presumably why they did things like gave the characters laser weapons and gave them the sci-fi reboot, to make them a bit less military. They've also said that the pro-Americanism and American military aspect has been some what of a hindrance in selling the toys overseas. They seem to have cracked the code so to speak though. There's also no file cards this time around, and I assume it's because they want these to be sold in as many countries as possible: during 50th, they included two double sided file cards for each figure which on each side was written in a different language. It's impossible for them to do that with every country without making unique packaging or file cards for each country, so no file cards at all this time. Hasbro's had a trend which they mentioned during one of their Star Wars panels, that they were including these little white folded up pieces of paper with information written on them in several different languages and that by including such papers, that the toys could be sold in like 20 or 40 different countries, etc. So it's my assumption that Hasbro has plans for Classified to appear in a lot of places if there's no file cards and they're re-imagining the line with a sci-fi setting.

Was never wild about Jinx, no idea why but would still buy if they made a new figure.

Airtight should’ve made the list too. I still remember thinking he was a cobra viper of sorts when I was a kid, finally saw him in the cartoon or maybe the comic being a Joe. Eventually he was my “spy” Joe infiltrating Cobra.

Also, I was bored enough to put together a visual wishlist.

Nice list. I could live without Low Light. Just never was into him, same with Tunnel Rat. I know both are wildly popular Joes though.

I saw Airtight paired up with Dusty in the Funhouse episode. Loved him in that episode. If Footloose was tied up Dusty and Airtight teamed up.

Anybody rewatching the old cartoon since the new figures? I thought I'd revisit some of the better ones but decided to power through them all. Still only 10 eps in and they're not as bad as I thought they'd be. Nostalgia and low expectations help.

There's a ton of good episodes. The show was well written, had good timing, and good acting. When it was taking over by DIC, they replaced many of the actors, the writing sometimes on par, but the timing and directing would be off and result in the episodes just coming off as wonky and less mature. And while the writing wasn't as good, I felt like a number of the episodes would have been good had Sunbow handled them, even at their most outlandish, Sunbow could make weird stories work.

Possible. Hasbro has made him a few times in the Joe line and almost included him in 50th. However the likelihood of seeing him anytime soon is not very likely. Maybe if they did some more Pulse exclusive figures you'd see him sooner like they do with Transformers, but I feel like he's one of the more obscure character in the line, with many more Joes in higher demand, to where he probably wouldn't show up until like a couple years into the line.

I was at a panel where one of the show's writers was present. She said they genuinely tried to make the show as good as possible and tell good stories the way Hama did. They never treated it as a glorified toy commercial. I think that's why it holds up better than some of the other shows from the same era.

Also they used to have actual westerners animating the cartoons back then. DIC used to heavily rely on Asian animation, and while Sunbow did use Asian animators on their shows, you often had Americans penciling it. Pic related is actual signed animation artwork. It was also storyboarded by westerners as well.

He-Man's Filmation cartoon is a product of it's time in action cartoons, and is very campy, and the writers and animators even knew that at the time they were making it. Action Cartoons were evolving at that time and were pushing the envelope more and more by the time G.I. Joe burst on the scene. You can see this transition with shows like, The Super Friends.

The last two seasons of the show became increasingly more serious, particularly it's final season, where episodes went the full half-hour instead of being broken up into segments, and now had drama and heavier action, and more interesting designs. There's for example a backdoor pilot for Batman the Animated Series back in 1985, which is found in the last season of Super Friends, which at that time had been re-titled: "The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians." The episode is called, "The Fear" and was an attempt to make a serious series about Batman and was written by Alan Burnett, who later went on to produce BTAS and write many of the episodes. In the pilot, Adam West plays Batman, and Scarecrow discovers that Batman is afraid of Crime Alley, and was the first time the murder of Bruce Wayne's parents were shown on television.

The show really goes more into many of the different characters than the comics ever do, and comics spend far too much time lingering on Snake Eyes and tying everything back to either Snake Eyes or Storm Shadow. In the Cartoons Snake Eyes makes only a few appearances and is sidelined most of the series. The cartoons gave significant screen time to: Duke, Shipwreck, Dusty, Spirit, Quick-Kick, Footloose, Leatherneck, Wet-Suit, Bazooka, Gung-Ho, Mutt, Dial-Tone, Sgt. Slaughter, Cross-Country, Low-Light, Mainframe, Lifeline, etc. So many characters get explored.

The only thing better in the comics is Cobra Commander's origin story. My preferred continuity is the cartoons.

I was never super into GI Joe as a kid, but I was in it enough to know most of the major characters. I was trying to think of small vehicles that could conceivably be made in a 6-inch scale. If Hasbro took a few creative liberties the Evader could be made into a pretty slick vehicle.

I put together a quick collage of accessories and small to medium vehicles that I think could fit with the 6-inch scale and not terrify Hasbro execs.

...probably pushing it with The Warthog but it’s just such a great vehicle and it’s just a hollow plastic box. Wouldn’t need too much tooling. Specifically want that incarnation of Slaughter too, best figure of that character in my opinion.

It was a full fledged faction for a time. Destro had renounced his partnership with cobra and formed his own army, seeing as he was the primary source of arms for Cobra his Iron Grenadiers faction was better armed than Cobra, although it was smaller in number. In the comics I believe Dr Mindbender, Baroness and Scrap-Iron join the faction as well.

In Brazil the toyline included Overlord and Laser Viper under the IG banner. Rowdy Roddy Piper was the official troop trainer... I guess to combat Sgt. Slaughter.

They were honestly my favorite faction in the toyline when I was a little kid. Their designs were just really cool.

There's vehicles listed in the "CORE" line, but nobody know what scale. Some of the "Core" listings state that the figures will be 6-inch, but other listings do not list a scale and list a much lower price point of around $10 a figure, leading to speculation that "Core" could be 1:18, since the figures are cheaper and have vehicles. But the 6-inch listings make it confusing on what their scale is or if there's some sort of budget figures also in the line that are 6-inch.

I seem to recall there was a delay in getting the film into theaters but that nobody had managed to tell the toy division at Hasbro, so the first wave or two were shipped to toy stores around the world... and there was no movie to boost sales amongst kids and casuals.

Then when the movie finally opened in theaters stores like Walmart and TRU refused to restock because the first wave(s) had been over-ordered and undersold.

I seem to remember this basically killed the toyline and frustrated collectors that couldn’t get their hands on the exceedingly rare waves that came later.

I had the Dino Hunter set as a kid and it was awesome. Such a great pack as the vehicle itself was awesome to begin with, but then it came with not only TWO fully armed Joe figures, but it's own actual rubber Dinosaur. The box was loaded with so much awesome it was just ridiculous.

If anything ever needed a modern era re-release, it's that set.

Yes, had some great fucking figures and keep on giving us new characters/troopers. Gave us the best new sculpt era Snake-Eyes, Bombstrike, that 2nd Snow Wolf (the one that came with a Snow G.I Joe figure), Awesome Cobra Commander, Venomus Maximus, Swamp Rats, Mindbender in a lab coat, Mech Suits, Torch, Bazooka, the Thunderwing jet. Not to mention the start of the o-ring comic 3-packs and all those 6packs of O-Ring figures including the Cobra Infantry Forces.

We get new O Ring G I Joe figures. We get a Walmart exclusive line and the mainline of them which will tie in with Snake Eyes. The Walmart line will also be available in Europe and Asia. Main line will be available everywhere, Hasbro wants to take away the pro americanism of the line and make it more worldwide.

No, the 4 inch line which is kept underwraps is the mainline with the Snake Eyes toys. Classified is separate. 4 inch still sell, fortnite is proof of that.

6 inch is a very convenient scale for -characters-. It is at quite an optimal point that allows a great level of detail and articulation as well as great shelf presence at a very competitive price, not much more expensive than a quality 4 inch figure. That's why a lot of different Western and Eastern lines have found success close to this scale.

On the other hand, it ovbiously doesn't work that good for vehicles and troop building, though one can argue that a 1/12 scale urban warfare or otherwise small vehicle with like 6 figures around it feels as great as a 1/18 tank with a dozen figures around it. You have to do the mental switch that a 1/12 line is zoomed in on characters and small vehicles.

Star Wars in general is in bad health. The 6 inch line has fared much better than the 4 inch one, though.
