My friend who runs a GameStop just pre-ordered me Zeb, Ahsoka, and Hera. They changed the names in the system apparently (probably because of the leak) but the SKU's were in pic related luckily. Most excited for Zeb.

The BanthaSkull.com page has more detail but it's basically a call to lob criticisms of TVC at Hasbro whenever possible as well as giving them ideas for how to fix it, so the result is likely just going to be a bunch of different people shouting a bunch of different things at them with Hasbro having no idea how to even begin to respond to all these autists demanding all sorts of things. Even if this takes off it's basically going to be an Occupy Wall Street type of protest where it's clear everyone's mad but the actual nature of the demands is vague due to how many different voices are involved.

But as you mentioned, this all relies on Hasbro even being willing to accept that they fucked up. They won't. No amount of protests is going to stop them from blaming the market and/or fans for not supporting the line rather than admit how badly they mishandled this. The myriad of different criticisms is just going to let them say "oh well it wasn't clear what the problem was, we heard so many things from so many people so we can't address everything." I think JTA and BanthaSkull just want to feel like they're doing something, even if what they're doing is completely stupid and counterproductive.

Seeing how Ahsoka is already slated for a rerelease I think this is just another way for Hasbro to gauge interest and then do whatever the fuck they want.
Just like how Dagobah Luke won last time in a poll that had Snowspeeder Wedge and Hoth Rebel as options when Hoth Rebel and X-Wing Wedge were already planned to come out by that point.

I hope Hasbro is sensible, "loses" all the 501st votes and just repaints the new Kamino Security Trooper sculpt, even if that one has shittier elbows and knees, at least the new sculpt looks like a human in some poses.

I think with face print tech Jynn could look cute, and her clothes make for a perfect blank slate background character. Basically toys should sold based on design. It's one of the more highly used designs, I want to say even more used than any trooper variant introduced in Rebels, RO and Solo with more exposure to come in the Cassian Andor show if that manages to get made.
The issue is more that there is barely any new media coming out and the stuff that is is such low quality you don't want to remember it.

I am also discontent with how they can be integrated into the lore. The KX type should have been used in Rebels as Senate guards instead of th weird police droid redesigns, but that would have necessitated the design to have existed two years before RO was released.
At least there is a precedent of the empire using humanoid droids other than protocol droids in ROTJ with AV-6R7 (similar to EV-9D9, Jabbas droid supervisor) on the Executor bridge and the thing appears so out of focus you can have a case that it should be retconned into a KX type.

This is especially stupid considering that was what was done for 6 years now already.
And it boils down to the same few points which Hasbro has said to care about but never actually does anything to address them.
Like producing giant amounts of TVC clean Stormtroopers and apparently the thing is out of production now in favor of the terrible Mando weathering repaint.
Or finishing the original 92 Kenner figures which even after the imperial dignitary Sim Aloo managed to make it into the finals of a poll years ago I can't see them ever making this kind of pointless background figure ever again in an all new sculpt.

Hasbro just does what they want and are the epitome of a company telling its customers what they should like (and I say that as someone who only collects Black Series 6 Inch).
The best example is ROTS Obi-Wan. The figure was packed into so many BS waves that he became a shelfwarmer while it's obvious Anakin should have been packaged just as much as Obi-Wan but Anakin became extremely rare. Then the Genndy Wars Obi-Wan used a ROTS Obi-Wan head instead of AOTC Obi-Wan despite AOTC Obi-Wan being released a mere year later. All because one idiot with too much pull really really likes ROTS Obi-Wans hairstyle.

There is always an excuse that can be made up. Currently the line is that the Mon Cals and A-Wings were part of a different rebel cell to the one Leia/Han and Luke hang around with. All of this hashtag shit forgets the fundamental problem: Hasbro has long believed that TVC supporters are a vocal minority and don't actually care about it. TVC isn't being mishandled, it's being run exactly the way Hasbro wants to. Inexpensive repacks, poor distribution, throw collectors a bone here and there to make it seem like they care (or make figures of guaranteed sellers like the Mandalorian). TVC is failing because Hasbro wants it to fail, they've been vocally trying to get out of the 3.75 super articulated game for several years now. All of what we're seeing now is an excuse to say "wow we tried, but the vocal fans just didn't translate into sales, looks like TVC wasn't that popular after all."

The fact that poor distribution and shitty character choices are the reasons for the bad sales is going to be irrelevant. They've been deliberately ignoring what fans want because they have no interest in supporting this line. This hashtag business is doomed to fail because it presumes that Hasbro has any desire to listen to us. The entire reason TVC is failing isn't because Hasbro hasn't listened to fans, it's because Hasbro doesn't give a shit about TVC.

I don't know why you think Hasbro is your passive-aggressive ex-girlfriend. Hasbro just cares about making money. They know where they're making money. I think they've crippled TVC's potential by botching this revival, and they might be wrong about investment versus returns when it comes to TVC (I truly do not know), but I doubt they're actively trying to sink the line. It is, of course, cheaper to just stop making something than it is to make something that doesn't sell. However more effort they're putting into TBS these days is just a reflection of where the money is coming from.

It's amazing to me how huge the selection was back then, before the dark times. Yes you are. Those decisions are made by individuals along a chain of command. It's not a democracy. Bad, self-destructive decisions are pushed down by management all the time. My thoughts on TVC as a purely 1/18 collector - if Hasbro put the same amount of effort (articulation and releases) to Black series as they did with TVC, it would have failed too. Imagine black series with Y-hip joints or swivel hips!! It would tank and wouldn't make them money.

So why treat TVC the same? 1/18 is selling. So many lines have proven that. They could charge more too, so many other lines have proven that. Just give it modern (not their retarded "super articulated" y-hip) articulation and have as many releases as Black series and it would have succeeded too.

They revived the line in a timid way to gauge interest and presumably (given how they've moved forward) found very little. That's all. Again, had they made a bigger investment in the line it's possible the line would have done better, but it would be investment they could put in other lines. TVC doesn't exist in some vacuum. Where they invest and how they invest is predicated on expected returns. There's risk of a self-fulfilling prophecy here of course, but I'm willing to bet how they're acting is more in line with the actual demand for TVC relative to other things they make than the dramatic tantrums people are throwing here or on Twitter suggest.

Tooling costs the same for BS and TVC, so the difference in price is the difference in profits and while BS is more profitable it is loony to throw any potential sales when what is produced alternatively is complete and utter shite like Angry Birds Star Wars and the dozens of other cancelled lines that end up only moving at prices well below their production cost, if at all.

You can argue the imbalance in sales comes from many regular stores having completely ditched TVC so these people have no option but to buy from Dorkside but that still ignores all other online-only sellers of TVC and still puts into question how much more these other places sell.

Search engines from Aliexpress and Amazon are fucked for a long time now, too. Anytime you want to use a filter or just want to rearrange the results differently on Aliexpress it tells you that there are 0 results despite there having been thousands before and then it suddenly works when you have tried the same combination of options for a third or fourth time. Galaxy of Adventures - the Equestria Girls Minis lookaline line

I actually like that last one. EG Minis were really underrated and underdistributed toys. But they killed it with the first wave being more Kylo and Rey and Finn. Second wave with Han and Chewy is better but good luck finding them. Doubtful there will be a third wave and no chance of a fourth.

Also the dolls are an interesting situation if you look at the big picture. Hasbro keeps making dolls with plastic or non-removable clothing. Doll collectors keep telling them that's a major problem and they keep repeating it. Equestria Girls, Marvel Rising, Forces of Destiny, TransFormers is probably up next.

Some of it probably sells better than we think, but a lot of what's going on with Star Wars right now seems to be Hasbro struggling to find a balance between capitalizing on the Star Wars revival and meeting the demand that's actually there. Still, I think people here are overestimating how profitable TVC is in 2020. TBS has probably cannibalized a lot of those sales. In a perfect world we'd have TVC and TBS for older kids and collectors and a couple of other lines for children, but it's easy to imagine toys that satisfy me. It's a lot harder to imagine toys that deliver to enough people to satisfy Hasbro.

Lego had a similar problem, for years in the 00s they didn't want to accept that the adult market is big enough to warrant more complex models and re-releases of older sets. Over the course of the 10s they increased their output of big and complex models to the point that they now advertise some of them directly to adults, having introduced an 18+ label and advertising their toys in photos as display pieces for hipsters living rooms.

Hasbro needs to find an actual customer base, just shitting out kids toys with a specific license doesn't cut it anymore the license is becoming as controversial and unpopular as it is now. In such a situation the die-hard collectors market is the only one they can rely on and they can't even manage to do that.

Yeah, I didn't even count stuff like soap bottles, because I'm starting to suspect they're just to keep the shelves from getting dusty. Why dust shelves every month when you can just trash dusty toys every six? Doesn't matter what line it is, the soap bottles sit untouched for months and then one day there's a different selection of soap bottles in their place.

They pull the dumb Angry Birds trinket trick with every line though. The current iteration for TransFormers is Botbots. Rotted on shelves almost as badly as RPMs (Hot Wheels cars with faces carved on the underside). Personally I think it's all brand dilution, doubly so when it's such half-baked product. But the effects of that are long term and fodder for "nobody could've seen X coming!1one" clickbait.

Why would you buy TBS at dorkside? they charge shipping, 1-2 dollars more and are slow sometimes. Hasbro Pulse and Amazon are usually better.

They probably sell so much TVC because its one of a handful of shilled sites where you can buy cases of one character that are web exclusive for army building. Also Amazon/walmart have a habit of crushing boxes so I think MIB guys avoid them.

I've never ordered from Dorkside because I've never given a fuck about cards, but supposedly they're good at keeping cards in good condition and, naturally, TVC probably attracts more collectors that care about the cards than TBS does people that care about the boxes.

I just have Rex and Fox and they're pretty cool. Rex has better elbow articulation but Fox's isn't terrible. He can hold his DC-15 fine like the standard clones. The face printing on Rex is really good but I have been keeping his helmet off because someone said it will flatten his nose if you leave it on for a long time.

I bought one MOC today on ebay for $11 dude, I recommend you just get one from an auction since it's not something that often ends in a bidding war. Also it's very unlikely that we will actually get that airborne trooper since it was confirmed to be replaced by Fives. I do generally prefer the ANH Vader design but I don't like the TVC ANH Vader because they mix plastic robes with soft goods and I think it looks bad. To be exact the BS tooling was once said to be a negligible amount more expensive. BS figures have more parts which should require more molds and thus higher cost but there are workarounds like making more than one kind of part with the same mold. I assume pins are made with the same mold as the elbow or knee joints. Or it's simply that the price jump in mold production is far less than the jump in price and profit that makes Hasbro prefer it which still begs the question why production of different items has been cut in half this immensely from the 2006-2013 era to 2014-now.

As a total package, the 40th BS is my favorite. Only thing that would make it better is if the lenses were actual lenses like the Mafex, instead of painted solid plastic. I know it's not technically as screen-accurate for Ep IV but I think the effect is pretty cool.

It's the little details they always seem to miss. SHF (and other Japanese companies) seem to be better at this, but no ones perfect. I feel like if George was involved, this wouldn't happen as often.

I vastly prefer 6 Inch figures because of the added detail. The line was full of lightsaber wielders between 2006 and 2012. I am sure having a great selection of aliens with lightsabers was part of the reason they sold as much as they did back then. Compare it to everything post 2014, all of them humans with really similar outfits. People say you only need one Kylo Ren but look at Rey and don't tell me her designs aren't just as samey.

They were, since the original idea was that the entire Jedi Council would be at Geonosis. Lucas changed his mind halfway through so Even Piell and Oppo Rancisis weren't present at all, but the ones that were (Eeth, Adi, Depa) that didn't have masks or have their original actors all got recast with actors that didn't resemble the originals so that's when he decided to make them all new characters and became Agen Kolar, Stass Allie and Sar Labooda.

The funny thing is that even though Stass Allie was created because the second Adi Gallia actress looked nothing like the first, they recast her again for her death scene in ROTS. This actress looks nothing like the Stass Allie actress but they didn't do a name change here. So despite Stass Allie having been created due to the actresses looking nothing alike, Stass Allie still ends up looking completely different.

Funny how that even continued into TCW with other species. Hem Dazon didn't have feet until the first toy was made and so Arcona had the three-toed digitigrade feet. But then El-Les and other Arcona seen walking around in TCW have normal human looking feet/legs instead.
