Honestly never cared for Welker's Megatron. It was good for the Sunbow cartoon, but voice acting in the '80s was an entirely different game; it was more about making sure characters had funny, amusing, and instantly recognizable voices than being able to impart any actual range. Beast Wars was riding the post-Batman animation renaissance where studios were willing to give animated drama a try.
And Gary Chalk is eternally underrated. Cullen's Prime has become a parody of itself, especially in the Bay movies and the Prime series. Chalk has actual range, and his voice is always the one I hear in my head when I'm reading comics or whatever.
