>>8156877You're assuming he hadn't been collecting for years. Those are o-ring figures. He could have been accumulating them from the 80's, 90's, or 2000's. Over the last 6 years I accumulated somewhere between $5,000 to $10,000 worth of Joe toys. I have multiple Joe headquarters, bases, and dioramas that I've purchased, along with army building vehicles and troopers, and buying convention sets and FSS figures. I'd wager he spent a few years building up that collection, getting a few troopers here and there for like a decade, and just continuing to add to it and add to it.
For myself when I army build, I ask myself what troopers are essential, and that always comes back: Cobra Troopers, Vipers, and Crimson Guard. Once I've accumulated around 10 or more of a trooper I move on to the next, and begin asking if there's any secondary army builders that I need, such as Bat's or different specialized troopers for different environments, and so I move on to 10 each of those as well. Pretty soon your shelves start looking like that guy's collection.
