In my defense, they didn't bring that up in the Q&A either. In fact, they did a lot of dancing around even mentioning the original Zombie Lab guy. My main weird takeaway from their comment was that they specifically pointed out the skeleton knight and magic as what made the fantasy line so dark like Christ-fags.

Yeah it wasn't mentioned in the Q&A but that's the backstory. It's why there was a long-ass gap in-between them getting the molds and the solicits for this line. They had to hash it out with him and rebranded it as more of like a comedic thing. They said they had to have the molds repaired but I bet that was more minimal than they're acting. They were only run through once for the Zombie Lab series 1.

I really loved the idea of Zombie Lab and was disappointed to discover that although they look great, the figures are mostly painted instead of molded in color like homegrown BFS figures so the joints come painted shut and there’s discoloration due to chipping and whatnot.

All I could think about with these is that I wanted BFS proper to make them and I was very excited to hear that they had the molds and were going to put out some zombie shit with them. Imagine my disappointment to find out there was a cartoony angle to it.

Look, I’m not gonna lie I’m totally opening up my wallet for these and BFS has made some of my all time favorite figures in any scale but like, gimme some quality zombies that actually look horrific and gorey instead of this neon-kills-every-toyline-ever shit.

Not even using the zombie lab molds, but I am a big fan of this figure they are putting out. The paintjob is amazing.

I could care less for the boxer gear but the base figure is amazing for sci-fi/cyberpunk characters ala mirror's edge type of urban courier or a fashionable citizen.

Hey 1/18 gen, hopefully you can help me out. I'm trying to kitbash a Hannah Dundee from Xenozoic Tales.
I'd like to keep my budget at $100 if possible but I know that's going to be tough. She has a few different looks but mainly looking for something like either of these. So far unfortunately some of my favorite options like the 25th anniversary club Cover Girl mixed with Zarana, are rediculously expensive and would be a $300+ figure. Do any cheap figures use parts like these? Any way to figure out a boss fight or Marauder solution?

Please help!

Use Marvel Universe Aurora for the head, is my recommendation. It has point ears but you should be able to modify it.

her top is going to be hard to recreate well. Definitely use a boss fight body though. They have a lower half with pants that look like hers(just in the wrong color).

btw I actually pitched the Boss Fight head designer about picking up the Cadillacs and Dinosaurs license at a con a couple years back and he was SUPER interested so it's not actually out of the realm of possibility of it happening...

Thanks anon! Just purchased an aurora and am poking around bossfight now. Might grab the new zombie boxer girl and repaint her top to go with the fantasy blank body you suggested.

I too have talked to some of the bossfight guys about xenozoic. It would be neat, but I'd be pretty annoyed if they just did 2 figures with basic accessories which it seems like a lot of their more random upcoming licenses are. I would hope that anyone who went through the trouble of getting Xenozoic made would pack in some of the unique snaller creatures and monsters from the series as well as do a dino or 3 in Schultz's style.

Yeah. I misunderstood the question when it was brought up. I thought it was about generic army builder type figures and I was briefly confused why they were saying they weren't profitable enough compared to the single release(which I interpreted as named characters).

I rescind my desire for it. Just opened up their Jungle Hunter, he was twine toed and when I went to simply rotate his left foot it snapped off the peg. I've been burned by these guys too many times now. At least gluing it on it's at a better angle for standing than the regular figure. May just snap off the other foot and adjust it a bit, too. At least the hips feel better than the City Hunter.

That is the shitty QC of most Hiya figures. You have to give them a hot bath and gently loosen the joints. Sometimes you have to pop the joints off and clean the excess paint from the pegs. Sucks but it's either that or you risk breaking them or just don't buy them. Sorry bro.

They also lie about scale. Second left is one of their colonial marine figures. Note how tiny it is next to other 1/18 male and female figures. This mean their Predators and Aliens are only slightly bigger than an average human figure when they should be head-and-shoulders taller.

Like I said, how I glued it back on it sits a bit more naturally than the default foot position and I can live without using that articulation. I'm more mad about the time I tore my harley's wrist peg off when I went to swap hands once. That one was way more on me, I should have hit her with heat since it had been so long since I'd swapped them out last, but when the other hand barely stayed on I didn't expect it to be that easy to fuck up.

Something I've been working on. I just reused the dio structure for this but I plan to make a bigger one with high ceiling.

Does anyone own the TVC/Amazon Slave 1? Its quite pricey but I'm thinking about it. It has opening doors so it can look great as a landing craft.

I dont own it but thought about it too. Best advice I can give is watch reviews of it. And keep in mind star wars figures tend to be small for most modern 1:18 lines, idk what you plan to do with it but keep that in mind

Just shots of bunch of soldiers or a vip coming out of the doors in a landing scene.

It has 3 "doors". The front cockpit opens but the seats are backwards. The side doors open and is great for the shot I want. The back door opens too but its mainly for the container - too bad since it has a ramp and would look great as a landing ramp.

This is the side door. It's tall enough for 4" figs and wide enough to look great in a shot. Soldiers could pour out of there or a vip and his body guards.

I have a crazy idea to make it look like a landing craft

here is the back area, I plan to cut the (red square) to connect the back to the passenger area. Then Ill remove the upper ramp while keeping the lower ramp during landing shots.

That way, soldiers can pour out of the passenger area into the ramp onto outside.

what are some releases that you think Hasbro should do or are long overdue? For me:

-Marine dress Joe set. Every navy, Seal or Marine in Dress parade uniform.
-Modernized environment sets. They did a couple of them in ValorvsVenom with still O-ring figures for some reason. They should do the same but with modern joes. Note: they did arctic and desert but for Cobras and they mixed CG's with vipers and grunts.
-All female set. For a quick way to end your sausage fest. Include Scarlett, cover girl, bombstrike and lady jaye vs zarana, Baroness, and female cobra troopers. Alternatively when SJW are defeated they could launch a volleyball set with all of them in bikinis.
-Adventure team! Re-release them pls hasbro.
-Modern trooper multipack. A 6 figure pack of cobra troopers, Cobra vipers and B.a.t.'s

I never even cared about this ship before cause I always thought it was a big hunk of plastic with a silly gimmick. But I never knew it had so much internal cargo space, I'll have to look up a full review for this thing now.

Though I'm still not a fan of the whole gimmick of it standing up and flying forward. I'm curious if it's possible to disable that entirely and just turn the cockpit seats around.

The dumbest part of that to me is that nobody ever talks about how everything that isn't bolted down (and any passengers that aren't the pilot) get tossed into the wall when the ship takes off, and again when the ship lands. Seems very messy and inefficient.

If you can control artificial gravity, there's no reason that would be an issue. Different local gravity for the cockpit.

Thanks anon. Actually other person have suggested that I look around female figure as well. I ordered pic related, seems like the hair is a separate part, so I plan to heat gun and rip the hair out, then sculpt some Leon hair onto the face.

I also plan to use the hair onto some BFS bald woman blank figure, and I'm sure I can cmake something out of the torso, so none of the parts are wasted. I'll keep you guys updated on what happens to the project.

Kneex made a Titanfall mech which is about 1:20 scale
Here's a custom that someone did to add more shit to it.

There's also the Lost Planet mechs, which are pretty good, if pretty expensive.

There's Toy Joy's mechs, which are almost titanfall mechs, but more generic too.

Hasbro's own mechs are pretty good. I forget their names, but they're nicely western types. They also have Power Armor from the Venom Vs Valor line. Ghost Bear had a suit and there was the Defense Mech with i forget who. Duke?

The WWII aesthetic is so versatile it can work with almost any kind of genre bending. I mean, I never would've thought of WWII Orcs, but there they are, and they look fantastic. I also love the tank, it has that slow, heavy trudging mechanical look that modern tanks just don't possess. It also looks like it can actually carry a full crew and not just one figure sitting half way out the turret.

The crazy part is that Range Vipers are about just expensive as the Sonic Fighters Viper. On the low end you can get one for about $40+. The expensive one to get from the Sonic Fighters seems to be the Lamprey. My original Idea was just to get 1 or 2 and have them just be very specific Vipers, such as an Officer. But then After I ordered 3, I decided "fuck it" and ordered 3 more.

I'm now on a hunt for more 90's Joe characters from the DIC cartoon: Ambush, Bullhorn, Rampart, Salvo, Scoop, and Pathfinder, to be specific.

They're very good.
What you see in their pictures is what you get, but like with almost every Chinese line, they're kinda delicate.

Do not force any joints. If something doesn't move with a tiny budge, heat it and freeze it. Only try to move the joint again after it's no longer cold.
If you're taking it apart anywhere, heat the joint and pull straight out. Never twist. Never at an angle. When pulling, make sure to hold it by the joint too, because it will be delicate.

That probably won't be an issue unless they release a helmetless variant. It looks like they at least tried to highlight Weller's trademark dick-sucking lips, which is all you really need with the helmet on. 2014 Robocop looks like trash though. They don't even have the red line in his visor and the mouth area is just an indistinct blob of flesh.

Marshal has more paint apps, the only thing not black, including his pistols, on the MIB is his head. I think he makes better fodder but be advised that they both have the same long coat which prevents them from sitting in the saddle properly so they wind up leaning forward. Anyone with a vest or sans coat sits just fine

Last night I had this idea suddenly hit me for what would have been a must-buy toyline for me when I was a kid. Sort of a mix between Mask and Visionaries with a group of mystical street knights and their personalized suped up post apocalyptic cars fighting monstrous mutants and their rides. I call it Riders of the Rad Lands and I think I'm going to custom up all the characters and their rides that I thought of. I'm going to use the blanks because they're going to be wearing skintight suits with bits of armor molded onto them.
Only problem being that the main villain's car, which has a name that's a pun on the Impala(the Impaler. He's a vampire-like mutant called Lord Draculash) and there don't seem to be any 1:18 or 1:16 Impala models.

Sharing WIP of my first ever vehicle custom. Modelled it by kitbashing diff models together.

Droidtaxi inspired by empiretoyworks own droidtaxi. The back area first both 3.75 and 4inch figures. Largest figure it fits is the Acid Rain reborn trooper. Im a big fan of the mini sized vehicles - it looks better in diorama shots and easier to shoot with figs.

Just got my package and it's unfortunately just one of the PGV girls I ordered. The rest are still in limbo as BFS included a note saying the factory hasn't reopened yet.

Still, the one I got is fantastic, outside of the stiff skirt, and she fits well in the tank I plan to use as a ride for my trio once I get the rest of them in hand. Now I just have to do something about the skirt to make a bit more flexible. It bends slightly, but not enough for her to be seated properly.

The packaging and paint job are both fantastic though and all the joints work really smoothly. Though I have to heat and pop everything to put on any of the gear.

Got my PGV Amy, and in my attempts to give her a flexible skirt I came up with this rough concept. Mostly I'm just testing out the fabric because it's got a perfect color, but it's probably too thick for what I'm going for. I plan to try and make a pleated skirt at some point and this material will just bunch up when I start folding it over.

But it's a start, I just need to find a thinner material to work with.

Yeah, I'm not really into this either. I didn't really like the stuff Joy Toy was doing, and I don't wanna see Acid Rain go the same route. Hopefully this is a relatively isolated thing and we'll go back to desert weirdos and shady mercs soon.

Oh, and I also think the swiveling gun turrets on the shoulders just look dumb. I don't know why, but something about them just rubs me the wrong way, they're just comedic looking to me.

They are selling out with repaints but I like it. More choices for everyone. I used to like the marine colorway but gave up on that due to lack of releases. Now Im all in on the sand colors.

The field color way is actually close to the original bucks team colors with beige instead of brown. I believe getting the field team bodies is a good way to update your old bucks members.

This is a very rough edit of the Joy Toy War Stars - 3 soldier set and the Acid Rain field trooper colorway.

As you can see, they are very close. You can easily paint a few yellow parts to the joytoy squad to get them to fit in.

I think this is a cheap way to increase the size of your Acid Rain Field-colorway army

I love the use of the Star Wars vehicles. They're such nice little vehicles, but they're generic enough (aside from the Tie ship) that they don't feel out of place in a non-Star Wars environment.

I wish I got the Han speeder when it was on sale back in the day, it's one of the few vehicles that came out in that line I didn't pick up.

Oritoy era releases, including the Marine have ratchet joints that need to be broken in. The Toys Alliance era figures have smoother joints but less detailed paint that is much easier to rub off. I’ve been following this line for a while so if anyone’s got questions feel free to ask or contribute as well. I can talk about these fucks all day, it’s currently my favorite line

I've noticed a lot of paint rub on my PGV Amy. I pulled off all her gear to help with modding, and noticed the boots, scarf and harness all left brown marks on her clothes. I plan to use her in a desert environment so I guess it can be passed off as dirt...but it still kinda sucks that her school clothes got dirty. Most of it wiped off, but there's still some residual staining left behind.

I can’t wait for this thing because it’s the closest I’ll get to owning a Sol Deserter.

For those unaware, the Sol Deserter was a show exclusive so there were only something like 79 made. Extremely hard to find and very expensive if you manage to find anyone willing to sell. The funny thing is that it’s basically a Sol Commander (one of the more common Oritoy figures) with a cloak, different colored boots, rifle sling, and a rock signed by creator Kit Lau.

I heard people would make and sell cloaks so you can make your own and I got a very similar slinged rifle in a trade a while back

Been trying out some basic weathering on a spare wall structure, can't get it right yet so Im holding off applying it to the entire dio. Im trying out basic washes with agrax earth shade, don't like it. Too runny and bundles up in an area. Decided to make my own with oil paint and mineral spirit. Will see how it turns out.

Thats why my advice to newbie AR collectors is to pick a color scheme you like and buy troops from those. You've got marine, sand, field, omanga, bucks, amm and stealth. There are outliers like the forsetti and the space prisoners tho.

I'd wager bucks and field are close enough to be compatible and cohesive. The easiest to collect are field and sand, bec they are the most numerous and recent releases.

Its also why joytoy is a genius for selling team packs instead of individuals. They sell in packs of 3 or 5 - enough to form a cohesive squad for toy photography.
