It all comes down to kids losing interest in toys from an earlier age then about 10 or more years ago. Video games killed the toy isle star.
Plus that manufacturing costs are rising, inflation and economics in the west. Parents and young children don't really care about great detail and articulation. the toys just need to be sturdy enough not to break with some sounds n shit.
costs and shrinking interests in toys are really the killer here. Mattel is doing pretty good, they have found a good balance between toys for kids and adult collectors alike (jurassic world, hotwheels, masters of the univers to name a few)
