I have a Rubik's brand cube, and it has a tendency to lock up and even gets a little loose when you pull on certain areas. What are the highest quality cubes below $50? Or is there a simple way to improve my current cube?

After a year of collecting chinese and custom cubes I decided to buy branded Rubik's one and holy shit it is horrendous.
I mean it looks nice and clean and more expensive than chinese ones, but goddamn it's impossible to turn.
Buy $5 speed cube from aliexpress, you won't regret it.

They function like 3x3 mechanically, but they are in different league altogether.
Parts like centers and corners are all fucked and you have to keep in mind what's what, especially if it's single color.
For example see white square part in the middle?
It's not a center, it's an edge.

Ah those. I have one right there.
There is literally one company that makes those, and it's the one from the video, so it's not like you have much of a choice in the matter.
They aren't making cubes either, they are making stickers and those are super square, so you make sure you prepare a cube that will fit them correctly.

New to cubing. I got to averaging around 1:00 using the simple method. Now learning CFOP but doing F2L has made my times considerably slower. Hoping it'll become faster with more practice.

F2l is always hard to do fast. Though I'm trying to do it mostly intuitively, and that could be slowing me down. Also I would suggest when memorizing the plls to save the g perms for last. Those can be pretty complicated in comparison.

my 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 cubes are really growing on me, lads. Haven't quite remembered the algs for matching the last four edges and for parity, but I'm enjoying the extra bit of work I have to put in to solve them.
I also have a megaminx but I don't feel ready to take on that beast.

If you can spot any f2l pair you have, and solve that one in isolation without looking directly at the pieces you're moving, that's the first step overcome. Then using that, you need to try and find other pairs while solving one of them. That's how the pros go fast, but that shit's hard af.

You might be memeing here, but if legit solve 4+ cubes and learned all that shit I respect you my dude.
I never went beyond basic 3x3 cubes, since I was in it for aesthetics to begin with.
I'm too dumb to learn anything more complex, even though I have at least one of most puzzle types.
They just lie there being pretty.
