>>8168243Pretty early to me.
I was a big fan of the space theme, my favorites being Space Police, M-Tron, and Blacktron, released between 89 and 91, but anything past 94 barely sparked any interest. Funny how Lego stopped using that sick space background for box shots in 94, right when they started to suck real hard, what a coincidence. Aquazone gets an honorable mention, but still you could have done better Lego.
Castle/medieval theme reached peak status around 93, and while there's been many downs and failed experiments since then, Lego spent years rereleasing updated versions of old sets, and it still kinda remained strong. Until Ninjas buried it.
Then of course came franchises with their specialized bricks, which contrasted with the creative and abstract sets, imagination was out of the picture, and so was soul. Past Star Wars in 1999, Lego was dead and buried.
Now I have kids, soon of age to get interested in such things. I don't know what to get them, and I don't want them to end up retarded because they got retarded Legos. My only option is to order spare bricks to rebuild old sets, because they sure as hell won't be touching any Minecraft nor Ninjago bricks.
