Maybe a poorfag company like Kaiyodo can only produce one type of product, which was the case with that failed Yamaguchi line, but Bandai still makes 1:18 products.
Hasbro does too.
The problem that OP is experiencing is the fact that 1:18 is no longer a priority, where Hasbro is just throwing out cheap stuff in 1:18 instead of being also marketed toward collectors as well.
AFAIK, it's mostly a problem with retailers. They saw the 1:18 lines as redundant and wanted $20 instead of $10, and Hasbro had to accomodate them. They tried to funnel collectors into 1:12 as well, by cheaping out in the 1:18 lines.
So Hasbro basically makes 1:18 for cheap kiddie crap now and has the smaller budgeted Vintage line for star wars that apparently gets a lot of collector support.
