I wouldn't mind the gimmicky mario if they at the very least offered a CMF line of normal Mario minifigs. They're putting all their eggs into one basket and it's gonna be a flop. I don't even think kids will want this, but I'll admit I'm out of touch and assume kids don't even care for toys in general now.

I want Ideas to stop being votes for IPs and instead function as votes of quality. Notice how all the Animal Crossing sets have massive votes despite being meh builds. LEGO also needs to shut shit down regarding submissions that overlap with current themes. This also extends to Nasashit. LEGO has been making NASA models for ages, I don't understand why every assberger thinks his specific orbital capsule waifu needs a 1:872 scale set.

Things like the pop-up book, ship in a battle are interesting and fresh. They teach new techniques or encourage access to cool parts in new colors.

Ideas should allow more niche IPs a chance to breathe, and the "violence" restrictions need to be relaxed if the model itself is fine (I'm a little salty still about them rejecting the Blade Runner spinner simply because the movie was M for a single profanity). If people want sitcom minifigs, LEGO needs to just outright make CMF style bags instead of boring background sets.

As for suggestions, I can only offer general stuff:
> Small vignette scenes (movie summaries, foodcarts of the world, etc)
> 2001: A Space Odyssey (happy medium between nasa and actual Sci-Fi)
> A set focused on teaching actual LEGO movie-making techniques like forced perspective, perhaps in relation to smartphones
> Steampunk anything (LEGO hasn't done an actual attempt since time cruisers, I'd take Wild Wild West at this fucking point)
> Architecture line but for famously designed art and material culture- Eames Chair, etc

I guess that's a good idea. I mostly want the Inferno Truck so my friend has something for his BrikWars army and I can use the store/delivery bike. But the hot rod looks sweet as well, for some reason I ended up collecting/building LEGO cars of all kinds.

I dissassembled it by using the instructions backwards so I could store a couple of bags (21-24, 17,19, and so on) each so its not going to be a massive pain to reassemble it, I will say its a real dust magnet because of the black pieces

Let's be honest, there were like three or four sets in the entire theme that one could consider "Castle" themed.
By the end of it they didn't even bother to put in any medieval concepts into the models and simply slapped the figures into some rejected Space sets.
Even Chima still had its animal motives up until the end.

More traditional minifigures would be preferred for myself as well and most adult fans. I don't see a value to having a smaller set with Mario in it, because you need some decent amount of "level" for him to interact with for it to be worthy anything. More generally, I think there is a tendency among LEGO fans to try to argue that a product they don't like won't sell well, for various reasons. Probably happens in other fandoms as well. But to me it is not really that productive of a discussion, because we consumers never have that much data on what sells well. And it tends to start from a place of justifying an opinion of the product. For myself, I am cautiously optimistic about LEGO Mario and will get at least a couple sets to try it out. If nothing else, it is introducing some interesting parts. I really like this Mario and I hope it stays with us many years to come with new suits and add ons.

the older sets had more volume despite less parts than many new sets, hence why people feel like they're paying more for less or the same
lets use star wars as an example in 1999 you could get both darth vader's tie fighter and a y-wing for about $50 which is about $75 today
in 2016 both ships were split up, with the y-wing alone costing $60 and the set that vader's tie came in, which also with another ship, the much smaller a-wing (which released by itself the following year for $22 in today's money), was $90
so if these three (four if you count the 2000 a-wing) you could either pay $97 or $150 for the same three ships, with the biggest difference being the amount of pieces used to build the sets
unless you want to use the parts for mocing, most people would choose the cheaper sets because they're essentially the same as the more expensive ones
