The names are a little stupid, but I'm pretty sure they're meant to resemble Mk30 Bluesteel and Mk22 Hot Rod. As for the AIM soldiers, I'll give you that, but the Red Skull that "commands" them is top notch. Not to mention that this set comes with an Infinity Gauntlet and an arc reactor.

Doubling them up would mean adding an extra stud to the upper and lower legs because of the different type of mixel piece, at which point it'd be better to just use the larger ball joint

I'm starting to understand why they do fake/no knees so often, it's basically necessary if you're trying to keep the height down

Honestly, I can safely say that about half of those hand-style clips break or are in the progress of breaking.
You can take those things, hold them against the light and see how the cracks/tears are already starting to develop (you can see the light reflecting differently in that area) and I suspect it's simply internal stress from the part production or faulty tolerances.

I even wrote to Lego a while ago about this but I still haven't gotten a reply from them.

Look into getting used duplo at like a local thrift store or whatnot. Any store that has any kind of quantity of a single brick tends to know that it is more valuable because they have a lot. So basically just pick some stores you like and just add all the different cheap bricks to your cart.

In my experience, thrift store duplo is sometimes overpriced for what you get, but definitely worth checking out.

Rummage sales (boot sales) are some of the best places to find lots of cheap Duplos, because parents don't think that they're as valuable as Legos, so you can often find great deals like an entire bucket for 50 cents.

Forgot to mention, as someone who buys duplo through cracklink, it's not going to be cost-effective to buy bulk duplo because the shipping costs will be huge because the duplos are huge.

I buy single Duplo pieces on occasion through cracklink but there's no way I'd order just bulk bricks. The shipping would cost more than the pieces.

What really bugs me is that there are four different types of minidoll torsos (young male, young female, adult male, adult female) and two different types of arms (thin arms for young male, young female, and adult female, and thick arms for adult male) but it's not easy to figure out which molds are which.

Have you seen them irl? There’s some ugly tan/gray that jumps out. IMO they would look good as part of a larger display in a city park or museum, but kinda lackluster overall. Don’t hate it, but def a little disappointing, since I was very excited about the concept.

I still don't care about minidolls and would've preferred them as regular minifigs much like i dislike most fleshies. Some of the the more fantastical ones look kinda good thanks to colours and i like some of the new hairpieces but still. I had more problems with the many tan, lime and white pieces in a lot of them, I don't use those a lot.
I haven't really bought a set just to keep it as is in many years now. But I unironically liked some of the Friends boats as they came out of the box.

41317 and 41381
the former has a seethrough hull you can sleep on, a slide, a working slidedoor, a hidden storage for a jetski and a chill hammock net. The latter looks a bit better as a ship, has a comfy sleepingroom, toilet, kitchen/sciencelab, working crane, bunch of sea-animals, a dingy, a tropical piece of island, a treasure cave, coral pieces and came with 9000 of the new bright coral colour.

Pretty BASED if you ask me.

Sup guys
Finally finished another little ship. I'm still a bit annoyed with certain angles of it, but this one is definitely my favorite. I had the engine sitting on my desk, the minifig, and the little car chassis thing racking my brain trying to figure out how to put them all together. At first I wanted some cloud city type vehicle, but with the engine between the two chassis things. I found this cockpit in the box while organizing, and it just kinda fell together. I love it.

Is individual part buying a good way to circumvent bricklink set prices? I wanna get the MetalBeard's Duel set but 60 Canadian for 400 pieces seems a little too steep, none of the pieces outside of the Beard and minifigs seem really all that unique to the set either.

just saw that the big dragon set comes with a game board. this seems like a nice inclusion since the set required to play is $100. I'm really liking the sets even more after watching some of the review/build videos. That said, how do you guys think it compares to the old one? I was thinking before of buying a couple of the old ones to lazily combine them into a modern office tower. The more vertical proportions of this one are kind of nice despite the more limited floor spaces. I have this set. Bought it used which I never do, for some reason that one time I decided to do it. Maybe the price seemed like a bargain. Oh boy did I regret it. The bricks were dirty and stank of cigarettes and something else, not sure what but I remember this odd smell. No stickers, no box, but it had instructions I recall. Had to give the bricks a few extensive and prolonged washes in different soaps plus scrubbing to get rid of the smell. Amazingly they weren't chewed on or otherwise damaged, and the set was complete save for a few. From today's point of view 8880 just seems like a a huge parts bin if you're into technic or model team. I don't even remember why I wanted so many technic beams, I don't keep it assembled.

How much do we reckon this'll go for? If it's cheap enough I may as well pick up a couple for the new suits in the wave, armybuild the AIM guys a little, then harvest out the extra "Prototype" and SquEnix suit Iron Men for more suits. And while I'm at it, bricklink an OG Grey War Machine helmet so I can make a proper Mark II and not use the crap-ass SquEnix helmet. Kinda. Wash them by hand. I use dish soap and water in a foam cup and swirl it and drain and rinse it a few times. I wouldn't use a washing machine or dish washer for prints.

Sometimes Lego printing is so durable that you can't even scrape it off with a chisel, and sometimes Lego printing is so weak that you can literally wipe it off with your thumb.

I always wash my printed pieces separately from the other stuff so I can wash them gently by hand.

It's not perfect but I think it's a cool fig nonetheless. Picked up some of the keychain ones on clearance for a dollar each and removed the chain. For full price regular minifigs, I might have been more disappointed. Fortunately aftermarket replacements exist.

Not that hard actually, just a case of getting a pair of pliers and pulling with some force. Sometimes it helps to twist it a bit too. You won't be able to separate the legs from the torso though because Lego now uses a new body+torso piece for the keychains. The hole isn't really noticeable either, it's kinda like the hole in helmets/hair for feathers and stuff.

This is what I'm stuck on - I don't like the rioting and the looting, but I can understand why it's happening. If peaceful protest hasn't worked, what else are they meant to do next instead? The purpose is to act as power posturing, to show those in charge what they're capable of if the demands aren't met. It's worked throughout history, but with modern technology there's no way civilians can overpower government forces so it doesn't really work how it's intended. They just get the response of "we can end this any time yknow". There's no real motive for the authorities to cave into demands unless it impacts their approval ratings, and the more violent things get the more general citizens turn against the protestors.

That all being said I still don't know what their demands are. Obviously the general idea of police not using excessive force which seems to be disproportionately used against black people, but what are the observable changes they want in order to achieve that goal? Not sure if any anons saw my post a few /lg/ threads ago, but I was inspired by Ecotron and talked about making a MOC of my own based off that theme

Pic related, I just finished version 1 of the moc, it's just a small concept at the moment but I like how it turned out

The majority of them do not want to change anything meaningfully in a peaceful way. Some legitimately do but are dwarfed in numbers by those who just want to act violently against a group they perceive as an enemy.
Most of them just want to burn/riot and those at the top of the movement are not interested in a slow, step by step approach.

And the unfortunate thing that derives from what you've explained is that it is in the authority's best interest to allow things to get out of hand enough that the average citizen is scared/upset/disrupted enough by the violence that he'll support the authority cracking down on it. Do it too early and you risk being labeled a "tyrant" and without the majority of people supporting action against vandalism the ones in charge will allow vandalism until public opinion sways.
Their demands are "get as much as you can" because they don't even know what they can get or how far they can push this. It's also all sorts of groups pushing things in all sorts of directions.
If anything what they've achieved is proving why police disproportionately use excessive force against black people.
As to what will stop them? At this point, any concession will lead to more of this. Martial law or strong response from LEO will stop them, and it will probably come, once your blissfully numb average citizen supports it because he doesn't want his things burned.

I regret discussing such things in LG but I get baited so easily.

I was just about to suggest trying out some arches to frame the square windows.

Sometime I will make an Eco-Tron moc with a female spacetronaut and a palm tree as a Paradisa homage but making space for those leaves is gonna be a challenge even if I cheat and use the small leaf pieces

Was just thinking about this. Perhaps one reason is some of the regulars have taken inspiration from that "famous" Lego thief and are out hoping to score some free bricks. Others may be dead or dying from the 'rona, still others have probably been V& for all the shitposting of the last week or so. I chose these wheels specifically because they have a smaller surface area than other wheels. Plus, I designed them to go fast, and rubber tires would cause a bit more drag.
