I would say the model kit but now that the new Black Series one is coming that's probably your best bet to get one for $20. BBTS had the model kit for $17 for a while but last time I checked it was going for around $27.

They’re pretty different. For one, the ESB Vader’s cape is hemmed on the sides and ends in thick corners. I’d shoved modeling wire through it all and had a wired cape Vader really easily. The fabric is also just a bit thicker o the ESB one, too.
But the 40th figure itself is superior.

You mean the upcoming ESB Vader? It's hard to say, I imagine the core of the figure is the same as the 40th ANH one, just the accurate details changed. The cape material looks different but it's not folded over like the ANH one is. I think it's more of a question of which look do you prefer for Vader?

Looking for some advice, /toy/.
So when this thing first went up for preorder, I snagged it because it was the only Japanese Mando at the time. Then I got the Beskar version when that was revealed because I didn't think Mafex had the license anymore.
NOW THERE'S A FUCKING MAFEX BESKAR MANDALORIAN.
what do I do? Amiami doesn't take well to cancellations and buying all three is needlessly expensive.

I'd say now is a better time than ever to cancel shit with AmiAmi given the postal situation happening right now. And in my experience, as long as you don't make it a frequent habit, they don't give much grief.

I'd say this, if you don't want to buy all three, just cancel the SHF Beskar version. At least this way you would have each of his looks covered. And you can probably sell the SHF later.

I feel like the head is find but the chest is too wide. Even as a SH figuarts fan I’m not into is though. Proportions look odd. Don’t like the Black Series either though. Head looks too rubbery. If all goes well it seems Mafex is gonna be the only one with a great Mandalorian figure.

I am the anon that was getting the Skiff from the last thread. I got it yesterday and holy shit do I love it. I seriously am wishing that I got it sooner, this thing is beautiful. It's only modestly adorned with Carbonite Han, Chewie, and Skiff Lando, but the Skiff Guard 3-pack that I ordered should be coming in any day now and so I'll add Vedain and Brock Starsher. Since Vizam was on the barge in the film and not on the skiff I might just put him in the Jabba's Palace set. I will post pictures once they get here if interested.

The gloves were included in the "specific differences." Nobody was complaining. The head was my biggest question; I know that the film helmets had subtle differences, but I can't tell if they're reflected in the sculpt or if it's the same sculpt with just a difference in finish.

I tried, I don't really see a difference, looking at my BS vader it actually looks closer to ESB. I think the biggest difference is the widows peak and the "cap and sides" of the ANH helmet which the black series is missing, so I guess we never got a ANH vader helmet to begin with.

I don't hate the FO Troopers as much as I used to but I do like the Sith Troopers. Those few angles and line details make their design look less like an Apple product. Probably helps that their class in Battlefront 2 is really good too since I have never actually seen them in action in ROS.

If the standard troopers helmets were more like Phasma's, more flat edged and thin, I think that would have helped lessen that duckbill look. The specialists troopers look neat though.

Also glad to finally have a blaster for Lando since Brock Starsher came with an extra. The fact that this mold of blaster perfectly fits Lando's hand and holster backs up my theory that he was originally supposed to have one included with him as an accessory but it was removed for some reason, presumably at the last minute.

I think it's just that Star Wars is generally a tertiary concern for the line compared to Kamen Rider or Ultraman or Dragon Ball. That doesn't mean they haven't done some good stuff -- their TFA Han and TLJ Luke have stellar likenesses -- but the line in general has always seemed largely like a series of rough drafts.

Do you not know what franchise you're watching? This is par for the course. In George's case he actually had good reason for giving characters different outfits in each episode that just so happened to increase the amount of toys that they could make, but Disney likes to just randomly change character costumes in a transparent attempt to capitalize on the iconic nature of the different costumes from the good films.

I don't think that Hasbro will ever actually kill TVC even though that's what people think. The backlash from the boomer collectors would be insane. I think that it's perfectly reasonable to assume that they will continue down their current path of 12 figures per year plus repacks for the time being. I doubt that they will listen to the TVC protests, as much as I would like them to, but it would be a retarded decision to discontinue TVC completely.

I don't even care about the vintage cards, I just like the 1:18 scale a lot more. I would be happy if they packed them in cheap cardboard boxes with no bubble or backing image if it meant they could put out more figures in that scale, but unfortunately people only collect 3.75 these days for the stupid fucking cardbacks.

The only thing that matters is sales. I'm not making a point like "Hasbro is a greedy profiteering monster" here either; they're a business and that's what they do. I actually prefer the 3.75" scale and wish that the line got the level of refinement that TBS has gotten over the last couple years, but enthusiasm alone -- no matter how loud or how long it's been around -- will not make much of a difference. Some of the shit like the hashtags or petitions or whatever might (keyword) get Hasbro to invest a little more in TVC to see of that pulls bigger sales numbers, but the reality is that Hasbro probably has a better idea of how appealing the line is than any of us do.

Most of these people are so starved for figures that they are buying entire cases of shit that they don't even want. If they cancel TVC then these people aren't going to switch to TBS, they're going to either keep or sell their TVC collections then start collecting other toy lines or vintage Kenner figures. Collectors like them are a large part of the Star Wars toy market and to deny them what they want would be a terrible business decision.

Knowing Hasbro, it's going to be something that doesn't require too much extra tooling, so I'd bet against Bad Batch since each of them would have to be a completely new sculpt. Delta Squad would work though since they can reuse the same sculpt four times with only minor differences.

His helmet is too small and couple that with the way they do shoulder pads he looks even wider because of the small head. Looks good besides that but glad I didn't order. BS helmet looks atrocious though in these pics and it's not even close, though has better size. This shows that we still need a definitive non-Beskar Mando.

Nah bruh, in this case the SHF is objectively worse considering it's more expensive than the Hasbro one and has a shitty cape, tiny head, microscopic accessories that easily popped off, a non whethered finish, and a fragile looking rifle. At least I can forgive Hasbro's awful plastic cape, single jointed elbows, and other faults since it's only $20. I usually agree that the SHF versions tend to be but not in this case.

After watching the review, I'm kinda nervous about the Beskar version I preordered.. All the extra pieces and work to mount the rifle seems really stupid and I hate when things pop out of alignment when you move the figure. I'm glad I was satisfied with the Black Series version of this look to not double dip on the Figuarts.

Five new TVC figure listings have appeared. One of them is a character from The Mandalorion, which is also upcoming in the Black Series as well. The figure is code named "Omega" and is likely NOT Beskar Mando, nor is this IG-11, because Omega in the Black Series line is of a new character. I would also assume it's probably a season 1 character.

I'd get the mafex TFA ren because it has the best sculpt out of all them especially in the helmet as they actually tried to do the mesh inlay on the visor and cheeks. Only issue is the robe which you can easily replace with a black series one

I've got it, it's pretty fun to build but if you made any of the past Bandai Kylo kits, its the same one. Just with every previous accessory and new ones from TROS included. Definitely this one if you never built any variant before.

My least favorite thing about it is that it comes with this horrible shit stiff tissue paper for the cape. Most people buy third party stuff anyways though so not too big of a deal for the price you get it for.

The movie may be piss, but the TROS Figuarts is really nice. I like the cracked helmet look, but you can swap it for another Kylo helm if you have one, and the wired cape is great. I'd recommend that one.

For females, easily Jaina Solo. It's their best articulated female and she has both weapons.
For males, maybe a Han Solo or Luke?

Take a look at the upcoming GIJoe Classified series. They have very good articulation for this price range. Snake Eyes has sword and gun as well.
Marvel Legends tend to have unobtrusive outfits, but the males often lack side to side torso movement. The upcoming Vintage/Retro Spiderman is a good option.
Consider getting a Japanese figure, like a Toku Figuarts or a blank body like a Figma Archetype of Body-kun.

I looked into the figuarts and body-kun stuff but it seems like there's only knock-offs out there
TM01A and TM02A from TBLeague seem decent too
also sorry if this is a retarded question, but are toy parts generally compatible so long as the scale matches? 1/6 parts fitting 1/6 models etc

What do you mean? The accessories? Or the pieces that make up the figure itself? The latter is more often than not an outright no unless you're working within the confines of one toy line that itself reuses parts. Accessories can though. But scales vary a fair bit from line to line, even though they might be nominally the same. Models are a different story since scale is more stringent.

my take - TFA exclusive helmetless Kylo has the best unmasked head quickly followed by TRoS figuarts unmasked head. Following that, I'd say it's really whichever costume you prefer. Say what you want about the movies, but I own all three versions of Kylo and they all have great articulation and sculpt. As an aside, you can remove the hood and/or scarf from TFA Kylo to have multiple different looks from that movie.

A rerelease will be nice. Jango was the subject of my favorite toy as a kid (the one with the grappling hook) so as much as I think the prequels are bad I've always liked the character quite a bit.

They'd need a solid phase 1 ARC Trooper, which would be an easy repaint for the blue guys.

They'd have to tool a bunch of new guns.

The heavy gunner with the quad laser canon would have to be a $30 deluxe.

They'd probably go full jew and expect a clone that comes with the minigun to be a $25 figure.

Phase 2 Fordo means they could make an easy Neyo repaint later on.

What are the odds we get a reissue of the Anakin and Obi-Wan figuarts? Black Series jedi don't really have enough articulation for me. I'm fairly new to figuarts and as far as I know the only straight reissue they've done is Return of the Jedi Luke. Has there been any other reissues and how often do they occur?

Not the most likely thing in the world. Maybe in a year or two, but right now if you're vigilant you can get them both without them being super mega expensive. I just paid $120 for Anakin which is ridiculous for me but it's a far cry better than the archive Anakin being scalped for $60 and still being shitty.
