It's weird because wasn't it made by the candy toy department, the people who made Super Mini-Pla? But they made this their first completed action figure for some reason. Actual model kits are made by a different department, and action figures like Robot Damashii and Figuarts, another department.

a bit skinnier than i'd like and will probably come out a lot more mushy looking than this but as much shf bugmen i buy, i didn't think that bandai one was worth the asking price... so i'll be ok with these as long as they're reasonably made for their asking price. I'm only expecting it to be slightly better looking than Marvel Legends at this price and able to look good running and shooting.

Did you even watch the trailer? You might have an argument in a painting or static render, but it's a moving picture. In motion. Perspective tricks like that don't work once you start moving the weapons all around. And you can clearly see in said trailer that the weapons are larger than the McFarlane ones.

I actually have an urge to get this and do it up like the trailer. Won't be easy, but it helps that the color scheme is simple. I have a feeling every enhanced human is a little faster and stronger than this trailer lets on though.

Space Marines have almost always been significantly post-human, with the possible exception of really old lore from Rogue Trader (which had plenty of dumb things in it too, like the Ultramarines' half-Eldar Librarian). It's one thing to not like Primaris but claiming that Astartes were "normal humans with a few enhancements" is nonsense.

It was preorder only and it was limited to a few thousand units per country.

The magos Cawl began the Primaris project during the scouring at the behest of Guilliman. But they weren't revealed until M42 with Guilliman's return. They've been using ball joints (and I believe a ball and socket for the Marauder) in every single one of their figures since the Fortnite articulation was system, and every single has rocking/tilting ankles, so why would this figure that's come after all those previous ones not be able to do it?

Technically speaking they have...sort of. The problem is they make very limited use of the not-Revo joints, with very uncreative engineering (see how even early Revos set the sockets for the joints at a resting angle allowing for a deep bend out of one joint) and rampant sculptfaggotry where rather than compromise on an atom of sculpt, the joints only get minimal range because the surrounding parts bang against each other. Simply put, McFarlane tries to ape Revoltech engineering but just copies the basic joint design and calls it a day, being unable or unwilling to put the extra effort in to actually get any mileage out of the joints. If Revoltech is Toshihiro Hirano, McFarlane is a discount How To Draw Manga book.

You guys talking about revolver joints and what not, you need to remember there are two important factors that identifies them. Ratchets, sure, nothing really special there. But they are also modular, easily removable and compatible with others with 3mm peg holes. So I wouldn't associate ball shaped + ratchets = revoltech joints or go around who started what for a fucking toy joint, who cares.

Just because it has the original joint that Revoltech stole doesn't mean he wasn't being crazy random with his articulation, which is how all his figures were from conception until the Halo line.
You might give his McStatues in 1994 a pass because almost every figures back then had like 5-PoA, but he really didn't change a thing until 2008 or whenver the Halo line came out. That's when he first standardized the articulation on his figures.

Did McFarlane ever produce a figure that was literally without joints? Aside from tiny minis liek this? Even his dragons had like 4 PoA.

He wants to keep the articulation as minimal or hidden as possible.

So if the joint is not able to be hidden, like by fur like pic, he's going to just make it a simple swivel... if he does anything at all.

What McFarlane's considers good articulation is unknown, but he seems to want his figures to look good in a specific pose.
So for most of his current lines, they're almost all neutrally sculpted, so he's not inserting his own ideals into them.

And I'm not sure about that one, but posing dolls are not engineered like REvoltech-type joints. It's almost ilke they're bendy and don't really twist like them. It's a very different motion versus what McFarlane created and Revoltech stole.
