>>8192374They're not toyetic enough. Lots of toys are tied to existing franchises because of course that pattern makes sense, but... there's nothing inspiring about it, other than maybe getting detailed face scans. There's nothing fun about it. They're just...there. There to fill executives' pockets. And costs killed having more accessories or articulation in favor of pumping out more of the same, so while most think 20 buck for a figure isn't expensive, remember how 8 bucks got you a ton of shit from toy companies in the 90s (think Toybiz). Politics too messed up with the creativity in the industry (remember the statue of Liberty toyset?). And I get why, but having just solids of Batman is ridiculous. Or Pokemon toys that are mistaken for Happy Meal toys. Or mastectomizing characters normally drawn plump because muh sexism. Even Japanese imported figures have become less inspired, compared to their value between now and a decade ago. I guess I'm just standing in the sidelines thinking about how sad it's become. Even felt bad for the indie toy lines that got clearanced to Ross like Grossery Gang or M.A.R.S., those had potential but were forgotten because it got lost amid the other shit out there.
