Perhaps a better comparison would be some older Transformers, where they did straight repaints (whereas nowadays they tend to do remolds to the figure, have different weapons, etc), and let's say there was a team of slightly different variants (the ones I can think of right now are probably the omnicons/terrorcons from Energon, or the differently coloured variants of the Scrapmetals from Cybertron, identical figures save the paint. Except those were something like <$10, while these, at retail anyways, are around $60 each.
