Just a reminder this was meant to be promoting the final movie. The event was suppose to be last weekend and the movie was suppose to come out 2 weeks after that.

So I assume almost all reveals would be tied to that movie.

God the only thing I hate about the Rebuilds is how the Evas have become such a joke. I laughed out loud the first time I saw a fucking animal Eva, but something tells me laughter wasn't the response Anno intended.
That hack should've left Eva alone, the original was flawed from front to back but at least his depression and miserable life made him pour some passion into it, Rebuild feels like Eva by committee.

I think the original idea of the rebuilds was just a technical one, to merge 2D and 3D animation techniques to show something that wasn't done quite well at that point. Story wasn't that important probably, or wasn't meant to change until 4th movie. It's so hard to tell with the insane mess at Gainax and what Anno and the rest had to go through, including starting up their own studio. I think whatever changes that came are all driven by what's visually interesting to do, and shock factor for diverging from the original events.

? not sure if the films made at khara had any issue like that. I know that Gainax sold bunch of old reference materials of original Eva and that resulted in the complete change on Angels in the 2nd movie.

Same, but my reaction was more like, "Holy shit, those crazy bastards. This is amazing." If this was in a direct sequel to the series' events like Anima it would've sucked, but they've completely tossed out the rulebook for Rebuild's "this time" so my expectations were at the door.

It was a mini WonFes only for Eva IP. Garage kits one day license the whole thing. But corona cancelled it, so it looks like they will do something online instead.

Official page say this isn't meant to replace the event, whatever that means. Since lots of people were ready to sell garage kits I assume they still intend to do that eventually. In the meantime this will probably be all the big companies showing their latest and future Eva figures.
