The reason I stopped collecting them years ago. The same reason SHF mostly sucks now. Everything is low-effort Disneyshit and they don’t have to put the work in for the MCU/Star Wars crowd, they will just unquestioningly CONSOOM whatever $400 garbage the company produces for the latest Disney prod- I mean film.

Compare the latest figures to things like the Tech Noir T-800, the T-1000, some of the older Predator figures like Predator 2 Elder 2.0, Inglorious Basterds, etc. It’s laughable how poor and soulless the newer figures are by comparison, and for only 2-3x the price! The thing that annoys me the most by far has to be how they handle skin tone nowadays. Everything is just shades of brown to save money on paint mastering and manufacturing, making every single figure look like they’re heavily tanned. Compare the skin tones to stuff like the old Terminator figures and even though you could pick flaws with the likenesses, the skin tones are far more natural-looking. There also seemed to be a lot more texture in the old sculpts, a lot of the new ones are way too smooth-looking for my liking.

To clarify, I mention the T-1000 for the utterly ridiculous amount of stuff it came packed with. A spare 1/6 buck and you could pretty much make two full figures out of the contents of the box. The uniform could be done better nowadays, but the accessories, heads, motorcycle jacket and so on are all still top notch. This was something like $150 on release.

1:6 used to be very affordable and accessible. Even in the early Sideshow days I remember buying a Monty Python Hoaly Grail 1:6 for less than $30. Hot Toys fucked the market on purpose and suckers are too attached to this shit to complain. They will even defend shit QC with "but it's an adult collectible, it' snot supposed to be durable!".

I bet if someone did try to sell 1:6 stuff at a reasonable price on a large scale, Hot Toys would find some loophole to sue them. Shit, the only affordable 1:6 I ever see is PTE World Peacekeepers on the rare occasion a store stocks them. Hasbro also cut their balls off and handed over to other companies so they won't bother now, not that Hasbro puts effort into anything.

Spot on. Hot-Toys used to have a wide variety of IP's and a unique originals like the Hot-Angel line now I'm honestly shocked to not see them stacked up in the back of the Disney Store. Thank god for the various other 1/6th companies coming out of Asia attempting to try new things or going after more obscure IP's.

You guys know anything about of this company? Would fit nice next to my Alien Girl.

IMO, don't smooth it out TOO much. Right now it has a nice balance, the slight grittiness actually makes it feel more realistic.

I remember back in 09 08 they parachute dropped exclusive crimson guard troopers at SDCC. Now everything is overpriced and under developed.

With John Marston, Doomguy and Solid Snake having upcoming 1/6 and Gordon Freeman and Dante having 1/6 recently released who is your biggest u knoe for 1/6 gaming figures?
For me it's Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes 1

Would make for a fantastic 1/6. That scam company molecule-8 acquired the No More Heroes license I know, but that was acquired alongside about 10 others just so they could appear legit and take peoples money for the pre-order of their Gene Wilder Wonka they never released.

LIM have been teasing that shit for a really long time (a year probably) just by sending winking emojis and shit when people go "Hey, solid snake when?". They're still talking about it, just recently someone asked about a solid snake in their fb group, but at this point I have no idea whether it's going to be his MGS1 or 2 costume. I fully believe that'll be the figure to come out after the Sneaking Suit venom snake.

I know people here really shit on Mondo for having limited articulation, but is anyone here way more bothered by the headsculpts? The Gordon hs looks really cheap-y and toy-y. NECA's 1/12 Gordon looked more realistic and less cheap, and that thing costed literally a 10th of the price and was half the size. If some 3rd party did a better Gordon head I wouldn't mind the figure all that much

Well they aren't bootlegs, that would be cheap molds made of existing figures to shit out low quality copies, they're just unliscensed. And yeah, they're unironically Hot Toys quality, with the benefit of being cheaper because you don't have to pay the liscenser when you're doing it without their consent. Considering most legit 1/6 companies start off doing unliscensed figures (hottoys, enterbay) I can definitely see them picking up some liscenses and becoming a legit 3rd party company some day.

Anyways, yeah they're great, Their Solid Snake should be pretty cool, just expect a decent wait because I'm pretty sure their team is just 1 sculptor/painter and 1 english-speaking PR guy who runs their socials.

Well there are several departments for that stuff but from the credits sections on Hottoy boxes it seems that is because 1 person works on 1 figure each, with about 6 people working on the finished product (and one of them is just designing the box and stuff in photoshop)

I know the Hottoys side because all their figures list the credits (who does what) in the instructions manual and the LIM side because I'm active in their facebook group and the forums they post too.
Also I'm just autistically invested in 1/6 scale figures and I have a book about how Sideshow makes their figures/their studio that they released a couple years ago

It's called "Inside the Sideshow Studio: A Modern Renaissance Environment" and it came for free when I bought a copy of their book " Star Wars & The Art of Sideshow: Collecting a Galaxy". I don't know if they sell it by themselves

They regularly post to the sideshow freaks forums under the name R_R_X and Fireclawjack. They're more active in their private facebook group, which you have to PM R_R_X_ to get in to since it's private.

This is true, but their first tease happened before LIM ever put up their Arthur, so you'd imagine the developement time on both figures was about the same. I don't think LIM have any reason to lie about Rockstar cracking the whip, especially when there's a paper trail of people tweeting those fist preorder pics at rockstar va's that would have clearly caught rockstar's eye

Crossposting in the dolI thread, I am working on a custom figure of poison from final fight/street fighter. I want to get a tbleague seamless body, but I have 2 questions:
1. I am unsure of which bodies have nipples (I require nipples, and vagina detail if possible).
2. I am unsure which skintone I should get, as they all look very close in tone.
I also need to get a riding crop, and maybe a 1/6 dick in an obnoxious color (For if I feel like displaying it in futa mode).
I'm hoping to buy the body from a US based seller if feasible, but I'll do what I need to in order to get the best mach.

There are three skintones afaik

suntane is the mid caucasian tone, both of the bodies ill post have this colour. This one is applicable to most western faces.
The light skintone is mostly for asian faces with a 'k-pop' tier ivory complexion.
I think there's a dark tanned one too but i'm not sure.
Some companies use their own skintone colours and have more gradual tones between them, these dont necessarily match up. Always google the manufacturer of the head you like to see if they do. Some will be a guessing game or not really match with anything in particular.

My Marilyn is noticably more saturated in an orange/yellowish hue than the more grayish skintone of the phicen body i used. The Kyrsten Stewart face matches quite well with the same bodycolour.

Another pro-tip: Dark coloured clothing can STAIN the skin pretty badly! Wash them well and google how to test your clothes before you might ruin your dolls. But i guess light jeans and a white tanktop won't be so much trouble.

I'd google around how people wash their (doll)clothes for it not to do that. I'm not an expert on it. I wouldn't wash the silicone skin of phicen with something harsh it that's what you mean. Again there are probably tutorials/forumposts you can look up for how to wash the silicone without making it age faster than it has to.

Poison set from Super Duck.
Waged war to put it on the S22A, the top is so tight I tore the left seam, it's literally hanging by last thread, will have to sew it together by hand.
I don't get it, the promo shots were taken on a S07C - the model with by far biggest tits in entire Phicen/TBL lineup.
There is no way in hell I could put this thing on those gazongas.
I have 2 S07C's, I could try, but I would just destroy the thing.
Other than that it definitely looks nice, other than hair.
Hair isn't even trying, so I'm probably going to look up whether you can use hair spray on these and try to spike her up.

A couple of months back, when BigChiefStudios put their Tommy Shelby up for PreOrder, I tried to put an order in myself, but it wouldn't accept my card. I got tired eventually and just ordered one from BBTS. I checked BCS' website again, and noticed that there's a "Signature" edition. Does this mean that it comes with Murphy's sig? Like the older Doctor Who figures? I ordered the only version BBTS carried, the normal one, and now I'm worried I missed out on getting Cillian's sig. The description says nothing about the differences between the regular and the signature, so I wonder if anyone has any more info.

High-end 1/6 is more about aesthetics than anything else, hence the hundreds of dollars spent on tailoring and paint. You do what you can pose-wise and there are some figures with surprisingly good bodies/outfit schemes for that, but it's not the main selling point.

My question is should I get my daughter 1/6th toys or the smaller ones? She doesn't really like barbie, she wants more realistic ones with guns and whatnot, and I want to build her a dollhouse, but I know if its 1/6th it would be a large investment in materials, learning, and more but it could be a nice bonding experience, and I can afford it financially.

If I should be getting her these more expensive dolls, please give me recommendations. I don't want anything too inappropriate, but I am very lenient on her about that kind of stuff (exposure to drugs and sex in media) because I don't want her to be anymore sheltered than she already is, so figures with some kind of nudity might be okay. I see the links in the "where to buy" section, but I don't know if those are good prices or if I am missing a basic thing that is required to fully enjoy these kinds of figures, such as a rudimentary doll house (a starter house, if you will) or some kind of goal-oriented social emulation accessory I should give her as well. I found Google to be unhelpful looking for this stuff (all advertisements), so I am asking you guys (I normally browse on here, but not on /toy/)

Sideshow and Hot Toys deal more in movie figures,
if you are wanting military go to either monkeydepot or gijoeelite
those sites will have the best prices currently, ebay will have figures that sideshow doesnt carry anymore but at a higher cost (usually double the original price)

Considering the large market in China, I'm surprised I'm struggling hard to find a generic fantasy Chinese head like pic related. The closest I've found are just licensed stuff, such as Ringtoys' Dynasty Warriors

Saw this; apparently the same Chinese company that did the Hot Toys Mk VI Iron Man KO is doing a War Machine. I missed out on the official releases(and really didn't ant to spend the money) so this might be a good substitute. Still expensive for a KO, but hopefully the quality is comparable. Hot Toys has been shameless lately.

All the best knights are from coomodel, although most of the crusaders have inaccurate bits. They do great plate armored knights from different periods. My personal favorite is Baron. There’s also a company that’s made an elite knight and another making an onion knight.

Nice custom, anon. Pretty solid composition. I would just put more darker colors and some weathering to simulate dirt. All guys in the Dollars Trilogy have fucked up clothes in different shades of brown. Also try to create a good diorama. You have all the necessary parts.

Thank you anon, I was actually thinking of this poster whike making the tree w/ the noose, along with making the Sad Hill Cemetary, more crosses and wood graves like pic related. Weathering, with sandpaper and chalk right? Done it a few times, dont wanna mess up.
