We get six new Technic Bionicle Anniversary sets next year, remakes of the Toa Mata. That's why LEGO didn't approve the Ideas set.

I think LEGO just axed Hero Factory on the notion that they would make more money from G2 Bionicle.

It went from mysterious, mythological tale to essentially just a sci-fi action romp. I still enjoyed a lot of it and it still had nice stuff, but man did it lose a lot of the atmosphere and charm of the first few years. Makuta just becoming a pretty generic bad guy seeking world domination instead of an almost lovecraftian force of destruction is one example. Though that was already going wrong in 2003.

Its silly to think bionicle will return for another 10 or so years. Lego dropped castle because it slightly underperformed city, and then they immediately dropped space. These were the 2/3 biggest themes ever. If lego is willing to get rid of these, bionicle has little chance of returning.
