A month ago I gave the Year of the Rat GWP to my sister and she left it built in her old room at my parent's house on a shelf and when I visited them recently I checked the set and noticed multiple of those 1x2 arch bricks being cracked despite no one touching the model in all that time, nor was it exposed to any environmental changes like intense light or heat.

Yup, Lego has gone to shit; it gets brittle after a few months sitting on display, got rid of my Ninjago City/Docks because of it
Lego definitely declined in quality in the name of more profit and being "eco-friendly," resulting in shit quality products

Has anyone else noticed how gross your hands feel after building a new Lego set (release from 2017 - now)?
Shit feels clammy and sticky, every set has that feeling now as well - it's very strange

Lego needs to drop in profit, going nearly bankrupt, so it gets its shit together (again)

I got that from those gold drum-laquered pieces on the Monkie Kid and Thanos mechs and given that the paint on the latter rubbed off so extreme from only light handling that I had to get replacement parts you do the math.

I've noticed this but I thought it was because of the sticker adhesive getting on my fingers. I've been washing my hands soon after applying each sticker to try and combat it

Right now its mostly Pirates in terms of whats assembled, I used to collect Batman and Star Wars when I was younger but as I've gotten older I've drifted towards the more historical themes. I've focused primarily on Pirates but now I have most of what I want from that line so I'm gonna start dabbling in Adventurers/Orient Expedition, Western and Castle/Ninja.

Just to give an idea about how shit that gold paint is in terms of durability, left ones are the replacement parts, right ones are from the Thanos Mech I bought on release in January.
I only fiddled around with it a couple of times and rebuilt it into the dinosaur moc I posted back then and the middle corner plate is what all of the pieces looked like afterwards - the kind of weathering you normally see on Warhammer miniatures.
The other two I gently rubbed over with a piece of plain tissue paper and it didn't take long until whole paint came off.

If those parts were really "lacquered" you wouldn't be able to do that kind of shit.

Hachiroku24 (left) is a more "cartoon-y" and fun design, only fitting 2 minifigures at most (1 driver, 1 turret gunner) and has decent stability when it comes to strength of the build - the only part that kinda sucks is the front tires and the bar that goes above the driver's head, both of those are quite fragile.

BrichTechStudios' design is more of a "realistic" approach, as it's one of the only Lego Warthogs that's closest to the source material at the moment - it fits 3 minifigures (as well as a brick-built Elite depending on where you put it,) fitting 2 minifigures in the driver & passenger seats, as well as 1 minifigure in the turret position. The Elite is able to fit in the turret and passenger spots.

Personally, I would go with BrickTech's design as I'm one for realism; the build is extremely stable (close to Lego-quality) and also uses common parts outside of the olive green pieces - it also has working suspension, a turret that can spin 360°, and a detailed interior space.

I thought this comparison would help those who wanted to build a Lego Warthog and didn't know where to start!

If anyone wants BrickTech's instructions for the 3 Warthogs (Gauss, Transport and regular) and a Hornet, drop your email in a reply & I'll send the MEGA file - it also includes parts lists for each build that you can import into Bricklink for ease of purchase.

It's not the chink factory that's the problem.
Chink plastic is of good quality, literally everything you use is made from chink plastic.
The problem is the newer "eco friendly" plastic Lego started using - polyethylene. IT'S SUPPOSED TO break apart after few years COMPLETELY

A tiny percentage of Lego pieces are made from that and very specific ones too (mostly plant pieces). All your regular bricks are still ABS and will remain so for the forseeable future since yeah Polyethylene doesn't meet durability and tolerance requirements.
If there are new Lego durability issues it's not because of that and honestly I think it's more than likely a mix of imagination and confirmation bias.

I do not have the piece, and I honestly don't think it would fit due to the way the front of the warthog is put together, the sloped tile pieces secure the dashboard together, which is where part of the wheel build comes from
I guess you could try and modify it, but I don't think it would look right once you manage to fit the windshield on it

Comparing two flag pieces (those small square ones with two clips), one from the recently released Legacy Golden Mech and one from the Aquanauts submarine that came with the large base I can safely say that plastic is the main issue of cracking, not part geometry.
The old flag is made of softer plastic that you can slightly bend in your fingers and is still fine after all those years while the other one is way more rigid, stiff as a board and developed cracks on one clip.
It's especially notable when slipping a bar in from the side where it goes in pretty smootly into the old flag while to new one squeaks and has quite some resistance behind it.

Yes, parts COULD crack even back then but most of the time it was because we were playing with them like total assholes, banging our sets together or did some ridiculous constructions that couldn't handle those connections and even then the cracking didn't happen until much later, sometimes after years and years.
The only big exception were (and still are) the infamous droid arms that cracked by the dozens even back then to the point where I wonder why they never tried to mould them in a different, more bendable material.

Meanwhile these days you get shit like pic related that happens mere months or even weeks after building the set and not really doing anything ridiculous with it or even anything at all.

I meant temperature swings in warehouses and/or in the factory, even before you buy the sets.
Maybe the pieces sit in a large container in a hell-hot mexican factory for months before being put in a box, sent to a store and sold to you.

Could be, but I purchased the set right when it was released; I think Lego is just going to shit, I've had other pieces in a MOC crack from just sitting on my nightstand, pic related is what cracked (as well as the 1x1 version of it)
It was a tiny MOC so there's no reason it should have broken, I'm pretty gentle with my Lego & there wasn't immense tension or illegal building methods used either.
Can't order replacement parts cuz Lego banned me from that service due to me replacing so many broken bricks over the past few years lol

All the time, but that can happen anywhere; Lego Market is pretty clean though, just think logically... I was on there last month calling out this dude who was re-selling minifigures he scammed from Lego customer service, there was also a dude selling a knockoff Cloud City Boba for $500 USD and I called that nigger out too - the mods are usually pretty chill and deal with it quickly

You'll be fine if you're selling, it's mostly the other sellers you should be wary of; make sure you get a tracking number and ship to the PAYPAL address, not the address the buyer gives you via PM (mention it in the post as well; that way you have seller protection thru PayPal and the buyer cant do shit)

Holy shit that looks amazing. I'm in the planning stages of a medieval watch tower but am running into problems with bricks. I never have enough of the right color. I have a ton of both light and dark grey bricks, but over half of them are plates. Pick a brick at the Lego store was the best way. I don't think they do it the same anymore. If you search bulk bricks on ebay stuff does come up. Some of them are by the pound and honestly that might be the way to go if you don't mind it being used.

My GF got me out of 30 year dark ages because she randomly came home from a tech conference for work with a bunch of swag and one of the swag was the Darth Maul microfighter from last year. We had super fun building it together so a month or so later she bought a couple of 30-40 Star Shit sets and then I was totally fucking hooked and it quickly became a fulk blown obsession. Got my old Lego from my mom and discovered Bricklink and now my GF thinks its a bit weird but she understands me and is mostly okay with it.

Are there Bionicle inspired sets by other brick brands like Xingbao, Quihi, Cada etc? Lego Bionicle models got pretty bad pretty quickly after a few generations. I'd love to see other companies do better with the concept.

Speaking as someone who loves the classic smiley, belueve it or not, people like different expressions.

The printed parts were wrong in the original version. It was a simple misspelling of "shield", but basically Lego sent out a fixed part to anyone who asked for a while. The current problem is that a lot of collectors didn't know about the part and when they open the set it is messed up and they want the fixed one. Of course the fixed version is less common and that makes it go for more than it should. Now the fun part begins with the collectors wanting the misprint part too and that even goes up in price.

It's from soccer line, but rarely appears as gimmick here and there
And it absolutely melts the clutch-ability of legs. You could even see the dent on the front part of the leg after minifigure stand in here for a time

I've never encountered that problem but it is a weird piece. The only one I had was from this kino KKII set. It's pretty neat that they used it for a play feature outside of a soccer set.

Picrelated is what I'm talking about, there is very slight dent on a front of the square in a minifigure foot, and after being in that soccer piece the legs don't clutch onto regular studs all that well

I've decided to branch out and try making a new theme - GreyTron. The original was a prototype that never came to be.

I need your input:
1. Which of these 4 variants is better?
2. Should I replace the light grey with dark grey? Would that be a better fit?
If anyone is capable of making a few dark grey versions of these I'd greatly appreciate it. I currently don't have the parts to test it.

I just got a used Pharaoh's Quest 7327 Scorpion Pyramid and I had to peel off and re-position the stupid stickers. I am wondering if any anons have ever attempted a more permanent solution to stickers, like covering them with a thin layer of modge podge? Would that be retarded?

Tamiya decal bonder would be the way to go afaik
I have some spray on for ancient scale models that dont have slide decals. It would probably be too wide spraying for your usage so like the other anon mentioned you can get brush on.
If you have another base plate test it on the underside to make sure it wont eat through the plastic

It would certainly be a good sink for some of those parts. Think of it being like star wars (from a bricks perspective) but without the terrible lore I can no longer dissociate from the franchise.
