So Anons, I've never bought Joe's before and have had no interest in this before but this new classified line is catching my eye and I've been lurking in these threads.
I'm thinking of getting Snake Eyes to start out since he looks cool and apparently they have plans of making his wolf buddy, would you say he's worth full retail price?

They're the most articulated figures you can get for $20 and come with a decent assortment of accessories compared to other 6-inch lines. The only thing comparable to the line is expensive import figures.

The line will also have vehicles, much like how Star Wars Black Series does and how Marvel Legends has added things like motorcycles to their line. And in fact one of the first vehicles for the Classified line is a leaked Motorcycle and figure set.

Characters are also selling out with-in minutes in some cases with pre-orders and fetching high prices on Ebay, even for figures that aren't even out yet. So if you get one at retail price, it's a good deal.

Snake Eyes has the best articulation that I've seen on a $20 figure. Well worth the price. Duke is also a great figure that I highly recommend.

Roadblock and Scarlett, however, are not worth full retail. Roadblock's thick cankles and shin-guards prevent his feet from bending up, and his rubber vest prevents any waist bend. Scarlett has single-hinged elbows, and she gets less than a 90 degree bend, and the banana yellow mixed with gold is hideous.

Y'know what's weird? I loved goofy shit like this in 1/18, Arctic Missions and Toxic Hazard suits and shit. But it's kinda doing nothing for me in 1/12. I think the higher cost and the fact that they're going to take up more room means I only want to get a few of the core characters and leave stuff like this behind. And that kinda makes me sad, honestly. I never thought I'd say this, cause 1/18 was never a "main" scale for me, but I kinda miss it.

So I'm guessing the lack of discussion about the Classics line may be because it's NOT a re-release of the old 1:18 figures?

Why would they be withholding that info if it's just same ol shit like the Ghostbusters or Star Wars re-releases?
Did they do the same shit with those?

If the Classics line is an updated 1:18 line, they would probably be withholding that info to push sales for the 1:12 line.

I mean, it's incredibly secretive right now, especially since they've been shipped to the distribution warehouses in the US. We don't even have any leaks from China either, so what's going on?
We should have gotten some bootlegs or "extras" being sold from China. So has anyone noticed 80s GI Joes being sold from China lately?

I'm pretty happy with what they revealed so far, both in figures and website profiles. I don't know if that means I'm enamored with Joe as a whole, or I'm a basic bitch and don't have some obscure character/design as a favorite. I guess the Cobra-La stuff would be neat, as infamous as that is. IGs would be nice as well, feels like they're only a matter of time though.

We won’t be getting Cobra-La for a long time, if gi Joe lasts that long at all. The animated GI Joe movie was a disastrous flop (although I liked it) and Cobra La had been a HUGE butt of jokes for Gi Joe for decades now. And Hasbro knows it. I’d love a Classified Golobulus figure , but I don’t see it happening

Yes, Hasbro does indeed do everything for money. But the G.I. Joe animated movie was a flop, and a joke among the G.I. Joe Community.

It's gotten a bit more love in recent times due to nostalgia, but it NEVER reached the "cult classic" status that the Transformers Animated film got, and it never will attain that status.

Again, Cobra La is possible, I just think Hasbro would possibly consider it a risky move. But then again, maybe not. Maybe even people who think Cobra La was ridiculous would still buy the figures for nostalgia's sake

Both the old SOTA Toys and the Figuarts are roughly 6" scale. Style-wise the SOTA ones are probably the better fit, though for a few characters like Chun Li the Figuarts is just too much better for that to matter. SOTA Guile looks very good and it's a shame he didn't have trigger finger hands.

Cobra La's been heavily requested for ages but IIRC the chief issue with it being done is that A. Royal Guard and Globulous would be 100% unique molds and couldn't be recycled for other figures and B. Globulous and his snake tail would cost a huge amount of money to make.

We ended up getting Nemesis Enforcer at retail (as part of a two pack) and Pythona as an ultra-expensive sub club figure. Not to mention Dial Tone had a convention figure based on his movie only outfit. Plus, they did a box set (granted with pre-existing figures that was based upon the introduction scene from the movie.

There's listings for both "Core" 1:18 and "Retro" 1:18. You probably wont see the "Core" stuff revealed any time soon though, because it's likely Snake Eyes movie stuff, so they're not allowed to show it yet. Both lines have vehicles also. Retro has a Hiss Tank and an AWE Striker.

Yep, it was easy and it adds a lot of mobility to the arms.
However, my suggestion would be to use a dremmel and lightly take the plastic off rather than cutting it off with an xacto knife, which is what I did and in the process I ended up making the elbow peg very loose because it doesnt fit snugly anymore.

My idea is to use Landspeeder Luke's double elbow arms and somehow graft Scarlett's gloves, and then paint them purple. I have no idea if it will work and especially if I'll able to take her arms off with a hair dryer. It could very well be a very bad idea.

You could either dremmel out Scarlet's forearms and then dremmel down the Luke forearms and fit Scarlet's over Lukes, or just cut at the right length and glue them together. And a Blowdryer/Boil and Pop should work on Scarlet.

Probably stretching the line out. If they dump all the main characters in the first couple waves, people will be less likely to buy in to future ones. We see this with Legends don't we? Took a couple years to see a normal Magneto once they started putting out X-Men again.

They want to do Shipwreck with Polly and said they didn't know how they were doing animals yet, but want them to be poseable, they specifically said that in regards to Timber the wolf and Polly. I don't know if there's also focus groups behind their choice of characters, such as if they showed the designs to kids and they picked the ones they liked the most. Maybe kids unfamiliar with Joes didn't think Shipwreck looked as neat compared to Sci-Fi or Barbecue?

I would think maybe a deluxe or something, or a Pulse exclusive-- something with a different price point than the standard $20. Maybe in one of those $40 Marvel Legends style motorcycle sets? The 1:18 purists who'll never never be happy with the line. There's a lot of comments on social media and Joe sites about him being toned down and not having his blue, despite that they deliberately toned him down, because that was their original complaint about the line.

The movie didn't sell toys.

The unexpected popularity of magic mike meant they needed to do major reshoots to un-kill duke after agreeing to write him out of the movie and include him in more scenes to lure in a female audience.

The one year movie delay meant that every toy store had thousands of movie-specific tie in toys they couldn't sell. After many months, most of these displays were removed or returned.
