I put maybe on Krillin and gohan, because they are heavily involved in the frieza fight.

The saiyan saga vegeta can easily be customized to look like that, and would rather have post ginyu force armor vegeta.

We already have awaken goku

Underwear ship Bulma is just pointless fan service, not interested.

Nail and Dende are whatever.

>Yamcha - I'd like Bandit version, but Jackie Chun makes me think we may get tournament version
>Launch - DB figures have been like 50% waifu bait, so I wouldn't put it past them

Launch feels quite likely to be part of the 2nd DB set. Oolong is a really long shot.
They can easily include 2 hairstyles for Yamcha. iirc he wore the bandit outfit in the first tournament.

im the only DB fan, i guess, who likes both GT and Super. I'd like a couple GT figs in a year or two after we'd had more Z, DB, and Super figs. Trunks, Pan & Gill, SSJ4 Goku & Vegeta, and omega shenron would be good. maybe blue gi goku. doesn't need to be a large line, most of the GT designs aren't great.

personally i think the SS4s are ugly as shit so I have little interest in GT ever getting figures, but they're about the only thing in the series that would even warrant such. All of the GT exclusive characters like Pan, UUB, Geru are fucking dogshit and the worst in all of dragonball.

Pan with Gill would be a good release. The DB-esque black star arc in GT is fun. If there's any figure of Baby's forms, Super Baby Vegeta 2 would be the most fun one. I don't think anyone cares about Super 17.

But yeah there's not a lot of figures you could pull from GT unless you just started releasing characters in their cool GT outfits. Which is why no one should have a bug up their ass about a GT line, it'd be seven releases max

The best bet we have for a small GT line is that p-bandai USA shit. GT wasn't popular in Japan but there might be enough American fans with nostalgia to support it, especially if they reuse bucks -- Kid Goku for GT Goku, SS4 Vegeta/Goku/Gogeta could have heavy reuse. Trunks might be weird because of his shorts. I don't see them making Omega Shenron, that'd be a huge, expensive release.

Baby was pretty much the best thing about GT for me. Thought he made a great villain, better than any of the new antagonists in Super by miles. (even though the only actual fucking antagonist is Zamasu/Black).

It's literally the reverse, burgers are the ones who forced the "GT is bad" meme like they do with everything else. Japan has actually become quite nostalgic for it and realized it wasn't all that bad, it's the reason why GT merch is being pushed so much nowadays. Even SDBH acknowledges this by always making new cards each update using the form and the GT/ss4 units are some the most popular in the game.

It is with american part of the fanbase, whether nips hate super or not is debatable. The ratings weren't exactly great for super but it lasted a lot longer than it should have. Also dbs broly didn't do too hot in japan, most of its revenue was from outside of the country and most of the fans criticized it. Not too sure about exactly how much merch super moved.

Some of it is. It has tons of filler and drags on in places. Like, Goku gets the spirit water in the manga directly from Karin but in the anime he has to go to a parallel world with Yajorobi for several episodes to get it. I think after the RRA arc is when the anime starts padding like crazy. Everything before then is really good.

There is no speculation. The line nearly got cancelled after the first three figures (Piccolo, Gohan, and SS Goku) and its exactly why the line went P-Bandai exclusive for almost 5 years, until 2014 when Awakening Goku came out.

DB was hitting it stride again with BoG and RoF, and the announcement of the DBS anime, which is why for a couple years the line was largely retail release. It also explains why so many of those figures (from 2014 to 2016 or 2017) stayed around in stock forever, because they were overproduced.

Take a look at the line now, Its mostly gone back to being P-Bandai, and Bandai in the US is even trying its webshop nonsense instead of having large bluefin releases. This is because many figures sit around for ages, and retailers can't even clearance them out because people are waiting for the deepest discount possible. And then they wake up one day and realize the only place to buy them is on eBay for 3x their original retail and everyone screams and squeals about how shady Bandai is.

Broke fuckers waiting for rock-bottom prices is why Bandai makes less and less of these figures, and whey they end up more and more on the aftermarket. This is literally how the 1.0 era went.

But its very clear that Bandai wants to cut down on the number of figures made, at least for the webshop ones, or they wouldn't have gone with the webshop model in the US. Those figues are made to order, so all that will ever exist is all they get preorders for. Its not like they're making large batches that get distributed by Bluefin, though its clear the retail figures will be different.

It really hasn't changed that much man. Looking at releases since Awakening Goku to the end of 2018, it's 15 regular releases and 15 p-bandai. So in fact is 50/50 for those 2 and a half or so years.

They have done restocks for a couple of them anyway, so you can assume those are the ones in highest demand and not the 'sold out' ones you refer to. (which ones are you refering to anyway?)

I'm not talking about a dozen people on a forum, I'm talking about there being enough demand to cause every figure to hit 3x retail on the aftermarket. Yeah, but the restocks have mostly been for older figures, and things like the welfare Gokus. Recent retail figures feel like they're getting less and less restocks, if any at all. And I'm referring to how SS3 Goku didn't get any. How there's no reason not to keep figures like FP Broly and Gogeta in stock, and they've been mostly out of retail for a while now (though, their prices may not have sky rocketed yet.)

Look, at the end of the day, I really don't care either way, since I've gotten all the figures when they've come out, and haven't had to deal aftermarket prices, nor do I really think that Bandai should be obligated to keep every figure in production forever, but a lot of figures do seem to go out quick, this US Webshop nonsense is kinda lame, and evidence seems to make feel like they're doing it because retailers are tired of sitting on large quantities of figures that they can't even move at 50% off, but people are tripping over themselves to pay 200% over retail later.

That's just the nature of collecting. No company produces any collectible for multiple runs on end, that's never viable and doesn't increase interest in a line. Figures like Gotenks, Kid Krillin and Fat Buu all sat in stores for long and there's no motivation to do it. Super Buu is just selling out. The only question mark is SS3 Goku, but perhaps the interest is just not there.

There is. They're based on a movie with temporary hype. No one is talking about those figures anymore. This is not a base Goku. The final episode of Super aired March 25, 2018. Broly movie came out December 14, 2018.

I haven't seen Super or the movie so I don't really care about defending them, I just remember the TV series ending way before the movie came out.

It's actually a great explanation for why he was so piss-weak in the King Piccolo saga (and arguably early in Z when Bulma reads his power level, although obviously it's gonna be much lower when he's not in buff rape nigga mode). Yeah I figure it's going to be something like that. Figures like Vegeta and Nappa came with seperate scouter heads, but if they're unwilling to do that for Bardock that probably hints at a SSJ head because otherwise they'd have to include 3 hair/head sculpts. Having said that, it still looks really bad and I would gladly ditch something like the SSJ head in favor of a seperate non-scouter head.

I felt bad as you'd asked a legitimate question in the last thread and nobody answered. As someone who has collected a lot of prize figures in the past I thought I'd help out.

Bandai Spirit (Formerly Banpresto) is an arm of NamcoBandai that operates in the space between arcade machines and toys.

They have historically made countless prize figures for crane machines (CraneKing), UFO catchers, lotteries, etc. over the years.

Whilst some statues may be designed to be paired (e.g. matchmakers) the vast majority are stand alone, all with different sculptors, using different scales and paints.

The Ichiban line are lottery (kuji) figures, more info on them here https://www.kujiconnect.com/ichiban-kuji

WFC (not to be mixed up with WCF which are chibi super deformed collectible sets) is a whole nother beast. It's effectively an annual sculpting tournament where different artists enter there best work where the winning entry either gets turned into a Master Stars (upscale) or a last chance lottery figure. The rest become SCultures. Think it's into it's 11th year now.

The whole things pretty confusing and even I can't keep up, so don't think of them as a line, since the same sculptor may make an Ultimate Variation in the same scale and palette as a previous SCultures, so it's really just a question of which ones you think look good together.

Because Goku was terribly out of scale and they doubled down on it with Roshi and Krillin since re-used the body, then decided to make everything after that in the regular scale probably because they realized that they looked like absolute shit with the rest of the Z/Super stuff, and/or that the bloated scale would mean taller characters would have to be fucking gigantic to be in scale with Goku.
