That's the new RG Bandai kit which is really great. The newer (a couple years old now) Koto kit is also fantastic, really good articulation and detail.
The Bandai kit is Rebuild design, Koto kit is TV design, if you care about that at all.

From a pure technical standpoint the RG Eva Unit-01 with the cage, however it takes a lot of liberties from the anime design.

Yeah, just comparing shots of Shinji when he's in front of Unit-1 in the hangar and the first episode to a shot like the same eva bursting out of the pupil of planet sized Rei will give you an idea of how much the Evas size vary in the show.

No problem. I wish Kaiyodo would let Tani do the base sculpt for the Evas and then Yamaguchi can design the articulation. It's not that difficult to make Evas highly poseable, they don't require Yamaguchi's full involvement.

It is though. This level of complexity doesn't affect the cost compared to the smaller version. Maybe a loss from transporting fewer figures in the same container compared to the RD. They probably made very few anyways because fewer collectors buy giant toys because they have no more space, but it is an illusion that this price is reasonably scaled to the RD version.

Dude this is a considerably worse thing, diecast joints means tightness issues and the inability to fix them yourself 90% of the time.

Yeah I don't know why companies still struggle with this. First RD Eva units were horrible too. But Bandai has shown the easy and effective way in another series, Kinnikuman SHF. Drop down ball joints at the hip, then at a typical thigh swivel position, another ball joint. For Evas that would make the black inner part like a second hip joint (third if you include the drop down hinge?) where it meets the outer armor. Exactly what they're doing now >>8258062

I just wish Medicom would reissue their RAH Eva's like they did with unit 01. It's disgusting to see units 00 and 02 go for between $500 and $1000 dollars. I'm glad Dynaction is in its scale; Evas look so much better larger.

As a scale scalefag, it makes me happy. Wanted something RAH sized but not with the annoying rubber. PG eva 01 has been re-released but dated as fuck and probably the next best thing. The Three zero looked nice but for the price, the dynaction will probably kill it.

The rubber isn't too bad but I'm sure in five years I'll change my tune. I'm so tempted for the threezero since I haven't been able to find pre-orders for the dynaction that are still open, but not worrying about putting it in a dynamic pose and just let it look good would be so nice.

I feel like once that RAH holds a pose for a day it'll start to warp. The elbows look shitty and I've seen enough pictures of the hip section stretched out.

I let it hold a bent arm pose for about four weeks. The trick is getting the internal joint aligned again so it doesn't look like shit. Rubber went right back to normal shape, but it's not something I'm willing to try again.

It's not too bad for dusting, I'll usually just run a very lightly moistened cotton ball across the rubber and suit accents and a microfiber cloth for the rest without issue. I never took issue with the upper body I suppose; any pose I put it in shows some movement and would probably easily hide that issue you noticed.

Ehhhh. I've seen the ThreeZero ones around, but the Ultraman I got from them is pretty questionable in quality with regards to paint and joints, and it seems like this extends to the other figures they've done too. That said, these Eva figures from them seem to have good head sculpts (which is apparently really fucking hard for Eva figures) and the proportions seem pretty accurate.

Picked up my New Paint back in December and I'm still nervous about angling the arms. I just don't trust the rubber in the long run, especially considering I broke 2 of the torso pieces already just posing it. As was said, cleaning really isn't that bad, desu, and the scale is incredible. I'm also considering picking up a Dynaction one just to pose and forget about it though I much prefer the RAH design and clean lines.

Indeed. I signed up for notifications across a few sites of it Covecomes available again for preorder. Nippon Yasan emailed me but at 25,000 yen I'm hoping someone else might open back up.

I'm still holding out that Medicom will re-release or make announcements sometime this year or early next with the final film coming out.
