1. The parent has provided the tablet or phone to the child as a replacement for the attention they're supposed to be paying to the child.
2. The child's mind conforms to laziness in the way they don't have to imagine things, only consume what's shown to them. They don't have to hold a transformer and swoop it through the air because they're watching or playing a game with that character doing it for them.
3. The screen is interactive enough to give the child small dopamine hits of 'ooh and ah' rewarding them in app games with sparkles of color or meaningless points, gems, or energon cubes. This keeps them coming back to get those rewards rather than play with a toy and have to think up their own stories, actions, and rewards.
