>>8275587there are some old price charts floating around of what the old sets cost, if someone has those for bionicle or really any old toy lines it would be great for the thread.
Back then when bionicle was fresh, i think a toa, of which there were 6 to collect, where 7.99 each, maybe 8.99. If back then the minimum wage was 7.00, then that would be like an hour of work. Idk what the minimum wage right now is but i think its like 12.00 in some places.
If you were to buy all 6 toa back in the day at 7.99 each, that would be 8.00x 6 which would be 48.00, i think, so 50.00.
If today you bought 6 figures for 20 each it would be 120.00 and i dont see people spending that much, so something doesnt add up, unless i just cant figure out the entire picture.
>>8275739i think to capture that feeling they would need to somehow make sets that are designed to fit with the G1 stuff, or really hit a home run with a G3 that people can have faith in right away. I think a lot of people sensed something about g2 felt lackluster right out of the gates, and i dont think a lot of people could get enthusiastic about it because they thought in the back of their mind it wouldnt last. but idk. just my take on it.
>>8275859im torn on g2 i frankly never liked the designs and felt like it would have been better if they used those designs for a separate IP instead of trying to pretend it was bionicle in anyway.
>>8276914OP here this is exactly the experience i had and was my first experience with bionicle. I didnt even know what a bionicle was so seeing them all on the shelf and seeing that tahu made out of bricks really left an impression on me. I think it was an advanced release, because no one back at home knew what a bionicle was yet.
