It's less hate, and the fact that there's not enough love. The show at most was fairly well liked, but it's not like you have a vocal aspect of the fanbase clammoring for them, or vocal people period, and most people into making monster toys either don't care for it, or don't find it worth the risk. There's a very narrow portion of people who want to make this, who want it, and who are actually going to pay for it.

The three main Heisei looks are the '84, classic Heisei, and Burning. I guess Burning is a for-sure, so it depends on if you like the look of the '84 or the classic Heisei. Showa is weird, because he looks very different at times. Vs. Mothra G ('64) is a good place to start.

One thing I've wondered about actually as a sort of more affordable/novelty line would be base articulated humanoid frames in soft multi-part "suits" to really replicate the toku effects whilst keeping some poseability. Toho sells the license for each of its characters separately. NECA wasn't going to drop money for the license to make toys that will shelfwarm at Target and Walmart. Godzilla is always going to be the safest bet since no one but hardcore fans are going to buy something like an old school Mothra or Biollante toy. The only reason they did the 2019 Mothra and Rodan is because they were movie tie-in figures, and they are quite noticeably lower in complexity than their Godzillas.

I agree. The only good toy of KOTM Mothra is the X-Plus Deforeal that fixes her proportions to be more like the classic designs with a big head. The NECA and SHMA versions are both shitty since they're kept in scale with their Godzillas, so Mothra's body is only like 1" long.
