>>8287645>>8287851The only real advantage to 3D scanning is for objects that need to be shrunken down to smaller scales without loss of details (after you clean it up, as mentioned), which allows you to have a backup for the model should your molds wear down over long production runs.
3D modeling also has the advantage of undoing mistakes or redoing sculpts in a more reliable manner than clay or real-world sculpting sometimes (or making variations of a sculpt).

I'm surprised I don't see more custom female and male figure for sale on ebay with Sozai-chan/kun, Achetypes He and She, and Body-kun/chan so readily available (bootlegs of the Figma and Revo in particular).
