As for the bitching, (that's what it is, not yelling), it's more that I just didn't want to hear the comments about it. I spent around 200$ on the shelf and shipping, and those lights plus rechargable batteries for them.
Since I take care of her and my kid (something a lot of virgins like you will never experience), she doesn't really have the room to yell at me when I can kick her to the curb and raise my kid on my own.
I was also planning on giving her that shelf to begin with, I just didn't feel like blowing the 400$ when I just picked up Giga recently.
