Anyone find any figures/ lines that work well with this scale but weren't intended for it?

Monsters seem to work for w lot of scales, maybe certain vehicles or robots?

The bike is an uncrustable bastard.
The highway is plexiglass, wood, roofing roll used for asphalt, folded folders for barriers, and crayon. The crayon is pretty crap though, and if i was a perfectionist I'd use plaster and paint on the barriers.

This guy’s awesome. My only autism about him is the time he reviewed and compared the Sand Infantry Reissue and said they were identical to the originals with exception of the cloth and harness. This isn’t exactly true. Besides the paint things I mentioned on the previous thread the reissues have a hole on their backs on the belt line. This is to accommodate certain belt types and was added when the Buck’s team first came out. The original Sol Commanders and Sand Infantrymen predate the Buck’s team and don’t have this hole. Something to keep in mind if you ever want to buy a first generation figure

This is how they break down. Toy Alliance added a waist cut and a bicep swivel. You can also further take the Toy Alliance guy down by taking the ankle joints out of the leg and take the shoulder out of the bicep but it’s more effort than just “pull and pop.”

The OriToy and Toy Alliance parts are not compatible with each other. Different size holes and pegs. Even the helmets are different sizes

My current acid rain PMC force.

I like the idea of the Bucks Team and these guys are an OC shoot-off that does private contracts. A specialist team. Im thinking painting them some red parts and calling the team, Red Tower Security. Or painting them yellow parts and folding them in the civet army and calling them Beehive Security.

I don’t mind the style of Sofi’s eyes, it’s the fact that you can’t really see detail since the printing is too glossy. I could do with more unmasked male heads too. So far there’s Bob, Damian, and the construction Laurel guy.

So I know this isn't 1:18 I hope no one minds me posting. This is the only community I'm active in because I usually only collect 1:18 stuff, but I was excited about this one.

The figures are cool and fun to mess with but seem very fragile. But the mechs are well built lots of poseability and I'm going to use them with my 1:18 guys they just can't get in.

This made up my mind I'll be getting a 1:18 mech from joytoy

Very sharp details in the sculp, and the paint washes are nice. In some aspects it feels like a 1:12 quality figure miniaturized into 1:18.

There's a cool looking Kickstarter that just opened up yesterday. They are magnetic 4" figures and a sweet looking mech as a stretch goal.

Thanks. A bit off topic but I’m actually in the process of piecing together a 1/6 scale black kit guy too. Can’t decide if I want to go for a contemporary feel like in the Modern Warfare series which is what I was going for that guy or something retro like the embassy siege. Found a review. This thing is awesome. Can't wait to customize it. It kind of sort of reminds me of the razorcrest. A metallic colorscheme can work well!

I only have this one. I don’t know what scale he is but I’d wager he’d fit in better with the smaller scaled Acid Rain or Joy Toy lines. I resent it for not being painted like promo images— I don’t know what I expected, it’s a model kit after all. He seems like he should be funner to fuck with but his head and hands fall off too easily. I canceled my preorder for the green one after getting this one if that says anything.

I do alright. I work in the finance department of a major computer company. Before that I was in Enterprise Sales in various tech companies and before that I was an Army Officer. I’ve also invested in the cannabis industry and my wife is a successful executive in the disaster recovery field so while better off than the typical millennial I’m still not “buy any Hot Toys you want” rich but I did buy a $100+ Figuarts Shenron on a whim because I had an idea for a shot that morning. I also bought a Joy Toy team for about $100 just so I could swap the tan boots they come with and put it on the ACU guys (erroneously sold as Marines) There’s a kid, 6 cats, and 2 dogs to factor in but after bills and stashing in the bank the rest goes into whatever toys I want.

I kinda just buy whatever I like. The only line I actively try to get as much of is Acid Rain. I like the whole faceless Mandalorian thing for example so I got Mando and Boba, and a few Stormtroopers but I don’t need to get like the entire main cast or anything. Same with Joy Toy. I’ll buy a guy or team I like but I don’t need to pick up everything they put out.

I used to have a lot of 1/6 shit but I sold it off years ago and what I had left I traded to Shady War for Acid Rain fodder. I’ve also been amassing shit since 2004 so there’s the occasional Bbi and 21st Century Toys still to be found. There’s also three IKEA Detolf cases full of various Figmas, Figuarts, Revoltech, and Acid Rain, and some bookshelves with all my import boxes, a lot of shit still in boxes because I don’t have room for it all yet. I need to either move shit around or add floating shelves to my toy room. I’ve got three drawers full of 1/18 crap and all my favorites and/or pricier items like Planet Green Valley, Animal Kingdom, Dime Novel etc are on my desk and I fuck with them while I’m supposed to be working.

I haven't updated in awhile as quarantine limits my ability to get materials.

Here is my WIP red light district rebuild, this time made entirely of wood. The lights need to be mounted on the ceiling and wires hidden as well placing additional doodads and greebles but right now it looks good to me!

Those three are based on a chinese miniseries called Doomsday Awakening. You can find it subbed on youtube.

The guy on the right is the leader of a team that scavenges for supplies. The guy on the middle is a quadrapelegic with 2 arms and 2 legs prosthesis, even his torso is partially robotic iirc. Female on the left is a survivor that goes with them.

And here is the rag-tag team of survivors. The "pilot" guy is the main character of the show. The general theme is that you have to be tough to survive - the weaker characters get killed off easily.

Here’s hoping they can aim better than Marauders.

I had to shave parts of the sleeves down and even then the best you can do is make it LOOK LIKE he’s aiming but you can’t actually get a proper shoulder/cheek/eyeline aim. They cannot aim the Thompson whatsoever. Feels dirty admitting that as if it’ll somehow spook them from making Vietnam dudes which is what I want more than anything

Joy Toy is awesome in the sense that they’re inexpensive compared to something like Acid Rain but also detailed and articulated enough to be lots of fun with lots of detail. They feel somewhat cheap in hand but I hope they wind up like MAFEX in the sense that they start off at first making cheap garbage but then just keep getting better and better until one day they’re all of a sudden some of if not the best option. I actually had buyers remorse when they first came out but every subsequent release gets better

I honestly don't really care about them getting the Umbrella Academy license and I am guessing it's because they got it because of "socially aware abuse" or some such bullshit. (I fully admit to being cynical here) but they should have gotten The Boys or Doom Patrol.

Marauders' original mold did everything right, in terms of allowing them to aim, short of a double peg wrist.
Then they realized most of their clientely just stood their shit stock upright and started making their arms' range of motion worse and worse in favor of sculpt. The dress shirt is probably the worst offender outside of the bulky suit jacket overlay that I know of, but I don't have much experience with their WW2 stuff.

Hasbro released 2 (Force Awakens snowspeeder and solo landspeeder) that was easy enough to acquire.

The older speeders from the prequel era are hard to find, unfortunately.

Make no mistake, joints are the worst part of a joy toy figure but they have massively improved from the first releases. Modern releases have sturdier joints and they include replacements. The pros are that they are very well articulated with huge range of motions plus part swapping is very easy.

I'd say its on par with other adult-only toys - not really for kids to play with unlike hasbro/marauders.

Kiiiiiiiinda? The articulation and sculpt on Joy Toy is amazing but they’re just kinda—-cheap. Marauders will last forever whereas with Joy Toy you’ll “love it to death” pretty quickly. If they managed to keep the same detail and articulation but make an overall sturdier product they’d be THE best 1:18 line to ever come out

Boss Fight have some great things, but i dont actually own a lot of stuff from them. Whereas I've gotten countless MGR stuff.

As others have said, i don't really trust Joy Toy due to how fragile they are. Same goes for Hiya Toys. They're also really dependant on the design too, and Joy Toy has some shit-tier designs (but when they're great, they're great, like pic).

If Hasbro was still invested into making 1:18 again, I'd probably choose GI Joe. Always a huge variety of designs and great sculpts.

Acid Rain all the way. I am very happy with my toys alliance acid rain products. I personally wanted to quit the brand when I had 4 oritoy forsetti's break on me. Their replacement parts broke too. Im very happy with the new manufacturer they got. The only downside is price.

Bossfight would be next bec their products stand on their own as is. My only complaint is the figure theme. I'm a sci-fi only guy, so the best I can get from them are a few fantasy-race figs I can pass off as poor aliens in rags.

I like the concept behind MGR. The articulation is one step behind the top 1/18 figs though. The idea of being able to buy parts for customs more than makes up for it if they had stock. But they always have no stock and order-to-shipment time usually takes 2 weeks to a month....

Hasbro still gets a vote for manufacturing vehicles. I hate their modern line up but during the past 5 years they came up with some great SW vehicles. I mean, come on, who else manufactures sci-fi ships??

When it comes to non Sci-Fi vehicles nothing beats the early to mid 00’s when BBi and 21st Century toys where everywhere. I still hate myself for not getting an F-16 or F/A-18 when they were like $40.

BBi briefly came back as Elite Force and there was also some Bravo Team shit that used the same or similar molds for vehicles but the days of accurate, well painted, scale armor, helicopters, jets, war birds, and vehicles are long gone. Only thing I have now is an Abrams, a Little Bird, a P-51, a humvee, a Willies Jeep and a Blackhawk.

Anyone have recommendations for sci-fi vehicles? I bought some acid rain figures I'm looking to display in interesting ways- but I'm not sure I want to drop the money for the flak bike/trailer or other stuff they have available right now. They should have made a de-powered wu kong similar to the upcoming hyped game. More articulation, simpler design and no useless ornamentation that hinders the movement. Facesculpt needs to be much much better too.

I bought two of these dudes. I'm mostly miffed about the shitty paint desu. Mine barely have any white on their eyes and the wash comes off if I look at it funny. It's an easy enough thing to fix (the eyes, at least) but I hate opening stuff and not wanting to touch it.

Articulation wise I just don't like that these guys don't have ankle rockers like my prospectors/flame troopers do

Who made the Omanga stuff? I want to say Toy Alliance, right? Cause IIRC the line started with Oritoy. All I can say is, the Trooper body is rough to work with. The joints ratchet too hard and feel unpleasant to pose. I always feel like I'm wrestling with those. The Omanga ones though, those are much more friendly feeling and I really like posing them.

I was actually briefly tempted by this. Sculpt looks really nice. Then I realized I already own the Revo Queen, who is slightly taller and has that amazing looking combo of clear plastic and metallic gradient sprays going on. I figure I can use that as my 1/18 Queen.

They totally do. Overall the Toys Alliance figures have all the same points of articulation as the OriToy ones AND more. Where they suffer however is their range of motion. You can’t “cliff hang” with arms straight up like before because of the shoulder pauldron, you can’t “heels down, toes up” as much, and the head comes off way too easily because the hole is shallower but overall they move a lot better and a lot smoother than OriToy

The Omanga Troops are all OriToy but the females, whose bodies are based on the Omanga Troops, are Toys Alliance. The only possible exception is the Phantom Team, I don’t own them so I can’t confirm but they’re standard Omanga Bodies under the cloak. As far as the Agurts style bodies (Sand Engineer, Stealth Team and Seth Ranger under the armor) The ratchet joints are waaaaaaay more smooth on the Toys Alliance figures. If you have an issue with the ratchet joints on Toys Alliance figures then you’d HATE OriToy releases.

I do have one of the females (the AMM Prospector) and like her just fine. I also have the Phantom Team and yep, Omanga bodies, and yep, they work just as well as all my other Omanga figures. The container guards are like my template for the perfect Acid Rain figure, they're super smooth and easy to pose, and they were basically the figures that convinced me not to drop the line.

I'm not certain which company my Agurts guys were made under, I have the sand infantry guy with the minigun and the (2019?) re-release of the marine infantry. I really dislike most of the joints on both of them.

In any event, I hope whoever is CURRENTLY making the Agurts bodies is doing a better job than the ones I own, cause I see that they're still using those parts. I cringed a little when I preordered Captain Pizi and recognized those Agurts knees, hope they work better this time around.

Sounds like the 2017 Agurts Infantry 2.0, the rerelease with the cloth tunic? Pic related? Those are OriToy. If you like how it looks but hate the joints I’d recommend the Toys Aliance Sand Engineer but as >>8395829 pointed out, the weathering wears off very quickly and very easily. Corsac Trooper is basically the same thing but with a new head sculpt. Even though Captain Pizi has the original style body it will be constructed like a Toys Alliance figure and you won’t have as stiff a ratchet on the knees.

Anyone know of a good site for constructing buildings for 1/18 scale? Not sure what materiels to use for a project.

There isn't really a comprehensive site for 1/18 dios. You can check out dioramas in the customs part of the hisstank forum. Rebelscum also has a huge forum segment for dioramas too.

I got into 1/18 recently because I dream of creating little scenes like this (and I don't have the money or space to do it in 1/12). I haven't started building anything yet though, just collecting a lot of 1/18 figures hahah.

Thats how I started. I dropped all my other collections to hyper focus on 1/18 sci fi. So I collected all sorts of sci-fi ish background characters over the years while experimenting with diorama building. The wood built dios are the 3rd dio city I built (1st city was 4 buildings in modern theme, 2nd was 8 structures in sci-fi theme that I posted here often, the latest one is wood built 3 structures - working on a 4th) and I'm still nowhere near empire's level. Im aiming to at least have a decent quality to match his first version of rot gut.

Yeah, Rotgut is the ultimate goal to strive towards. That guy is so good. I want to learn 3D so I can start fabricating more unusual parts at home, as I don't have the tools or space to do woodworking.
