Bumping this thread with legit news. Well it looks like Origins is slowly making its way on to shelves and some stores are not doing the August 1st street date. I was able to get Skeletor today because I guess the store I went to had a case of ONLY Skeletor.

Not that guy but I liked the show. It had it's charm, and once you accept that this isn't the She-Ra you knew and get past that, it's a fun show.

The toys seemed to have done badly though.

Can we please leave the nu-ra shit and shenanigans out of this thread? It has absolutely nothing to do with MotU. Mattel made damn sure of that.

That being said, what do you think Mattel is going to do with She-Ra now? She's not slated to appear in either of the upcoming MotU shows, and the only PoP Origins figure is a limited-run con exclusive. Mattel has confirmed that they're overhauling and "reimagining" her origin and backstory going forward (see pic, source: BBTS via Mattel). Is this a kneejerk reaction to the Netflix show and its fandom? Is this Mattel giving up their 50% stake in OG She-Ra to Universal and going forward with a version that they alone control? Will the new canon, whatever it is, be embraced by the MotU fandom at large, or will it be She-REEEE 2.0? Thoughts?

I was never a fan of og she-ra so I guess it's why i want upset about the new one. It was ok but after 3 seasons I got bored with it and stopped watching, it wasn't bad it wasn't good and it wasn't anything to get upset about... although as I said I don't have a dog in this fight.

August 1st. I'm in California but was only able to find He-Man and Skeletor who came in their own cases to ensure everyone at least gets the main two. Tje supporting cast + more of the main two are in another case I think.

I saw 4 Sky Sleds and 4 Battle Cats on the shelf at Wal-Mart this morning and picked up one of each. This is how he looks in the mini comics. There was a big push for this version to get released in the classics line and never did.

I did. I felt kind of crazy for doing at first but it’s giving me a MerMan and outfit for Skeletor I’ve wanted since the original mini comic days when the line first came out. The Man At Arms also has a helmet that was in earlier mini comics as well. They never gave us these in the Classic line either. I can’t into customizing and probably what I’d pay to have someone make it, it’s justified. Beast Man looks cool from that early Taylor sketch. Now the downside is these fuckers haven’t shown us shit about them since the initial preorder.

Kind of annoyed they didn't call him "Chib-He". Anyways my plan was to have the MOTU mini Heman fill in for him. I get some take issue with the comic, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The spirits of grayskull fighting Anti-Eternia He-man were neat too. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it implied that Keldor's victory indirectly revives duplicate universes that house He-men that replace the ones who died? I felt like they handled hyper-crisis shit like that pretty well and I see the replacement he-men as future story potential. In my book nobody really died since Keldor defeated Anti-Adam.

Each WM will put out a single case, snatched-up by the first neckbeard scalper. The pegs will then be empty until the week before Christmas, when they'll put out remnants of another case. Honestly the whole deal has made me break from American toys. Imports may be more but in the end it's cheaper than scalpers and the Japanese tend to make it alot easier on their customers to get their hands on something. It almost like they want my money or something, American companies should take notice.

Also the figures are very nice and fun to fiddle with and pose; I'm really enjoying Origins and hope they release different heads for characters the way Classics did. Teela's particularly my favorite right now from the ones I managed to snag. Missing out on He-Man though is leaving a hole my life.

Evil-Lyn feels similar to Teela, but I had some plastic flashing in one of her knee joints that I trimmed. That's about the only negative I can say I had with her. Other than that she was a decent figure. I'd like a purple version however with a cape.

Someone obviously got to the Origins figures before I did and cleaned out every single last He-Man and then bought all the Skyleds, because those were gone, and then left behind two Battle Cats, one or two of all the other characters, except for Skeletor, who they left 3 of. I went back the next day to see if they restocked at that Walmart-- maybe I just missed the He-Man figures-- maybe the employees didn't get that case opened and on the pegs? Well, when I went bag everything was gone. Both the other Skeletors were gone, and so was the two Battle Cats, and whatever other extra characters there were that I left.

I was originally excited for this release but the pink Power Sword uses the enlarged handle from the exclusive 2-pack which doesn't fit the hands. I'm sure they'll release more full power swords, and at that point they hopefully use handles that actually work with these figures.

I think it was a good idea mattel did separate cases of Skeletor and He-Man because they are the bread and butter of this line.

They really should have made a nice big end cap of this stuff.

I'm assuming by starting it as Walmart exclusive is Mattel's way of testing out the line before having it everywhere else? So hopefully they can adjust numbers on future releases. Just some optimism.

I honestly think it's a combination of scalpers and collectors. It's crazy how they put them out on the shelves that morning and by lunch, they were wiped out. Now there is nothing but this vast empty section of pegs at every Walmart near me. I will say this: I think the back stock of toy items that's been waiting on boats on Chinese shipping crates is finally making its way over, based on a few people I've talked to and the rate at which I see toy stock being replenished at my stores, which is almost daily.

They come like that in the box. When the employees put them on the peg the punch falls off. I've found a few on pegs with them still clinging on. you can put them back in and they stay. People like them since it doesn't ruin the back art.

Pretty much, yes, at least within the past decade or so. I remember starting to get frustrated collecting G.I. Joes because around 2010 I started running into combinations of stores either only having old shelf warmers or being emptied out.

I would occasionally buy MP transformers, but Soundwave and Grimlock sold out at TRU before they even hit shelves.

It kinda sucks and looses it's appeal. I have no interest in this iteration of MOTU, but I hope Mattel spams out more of these leaving scalpers dangling in the wind with worthless backstock.
