These same brainwashing techniques are partly what led Megatron to eventually realize that he wasn’t pleased with his own actions in the war, and to gradually reject his conqueror tendencies.
Basically, the upper class never has the foresight, skill, or resources to manipulate the working class as directly as they think they can/will without consequences, but they will still try—and although war may appear on the surface to be a result of divides between socioeconomic/religious/belief systems, it is generally a result of fallible, sometimes invisible influences by an upper class which has no idea what it’s doing, and creates nothing but a legacy of the very rebellion which it tried to prevent out of a fear of and disconnect from its constituents.
