Rumor has it that Target's getting their next shipment so they can stock for 8/14. Supposedly this is when Baroness is due, and it's supposed to be why many stores don't have just one but two shelf spaces for the Trooper. Hopefully that's legit.

There's one last target I haven't checked that supposedly has Beachhead and the trooper, but I'm so sick of artistically trying to explain myself is it even worth going to? Maybe I should try this "patience" bullshit.

Walmart and Target do that all the time, figuring they bought enough of something once and they'll just keep putting out cases of it from the back as they sell out. Target and Walmart kept putting out the same case of Star Wars TVC over and over and over again. Wave 1 basically killed the line because of it.

I'm not saying there wont be more, but I'm also saying that they do it all the time.

Relax, it's not like these are one shipment and done deal. This Hasbro, they're gonna start pumping these out seeing that they actually sell. And it's not like they mad the mold specifically for Target. They're bound to re-release them in wide retail. Target was just for testing the water. Besides, the figures are shipped seperate, so pegs won't clogged up with unwanted figure. If one runs out, Target computers sees that it's out. Unlike Marvel legends where one characters runs out but there are 10 wasps on pegs, the computers still sees a full peg of figures of that wave so they don't order new ones.

No, they order a bunch of one wave so they don't have to re-order and then never re-order, then every time they sell out they can just go in back and put more stock out until whatever they have in the back is gone, and then they never just re-order again until another reset, or it's Christmas or some other reason, etc. So you often will either see the same shit over and over again, or... see empty pegs for months. The stores will even sometimes skip waves at retail, that seem to never show up.

The more is said, the less concerned I become. There is zero reason Hasbro or Target would let a product of theirs sit on the aftermarket for triple the cost, when they literally just made it, and have all the resources to make more.

If I may interject, I feel as though there is an outlier variable that is not being considered. These aren't just Target exclusive figures, this is a Target exclusive line, these Cobra Island sets. Multiple stores are even setting up not one but two sets of tags for it. When has this happened before? As far as I recall, and please correct me if I'm wrong, most other exclusives only have the one tag. They may be anticipating demand, but weren't anticipating this early buzz and fuss.

These also most likely were intended for a Snake Eyes movie, to have endcaps full of new stuff to promote the film and brand. While Snake Eyes is now delayed to 2021, I'm sure not everything could get delayed. But if these were meant to align with a movie release, thats also the sign of a fuckton of them on the way.

A similar thing happened at Walmart. The Netflix Transformers line, only available there, trickled out, some retailers listed figures for over double cost, before having a big boon and now thet're pretty available. What if thats going to be the case here?

Has there even been any word of Snake Eyes movie toys to tie in? I haven't heard anything. Plus, the movie was scheduled originally for October, so Cobra Island is at least 2 months early for an end cap, I think.

There were some classified leaks, just movie names (like MV Scorpion, aka Movie Storm Shadow) and some other stuff. Considering where we are, these were most likely delayed to next year, but I'd wager stuff like Cobra Island made it through for not being tied to the movie

how would this kill the line?. hasbro and their partner, in this case target, sold out of preorders in seconds, weather they went to scalpers or not, they made money. thats what matters to them. they will continue to release waves and some rereleases until the scalpers stop auto buying, and then you can have your toys at the normal "late to the party" price tag or get lucky off the shelf.

targets almost out of stock, at least on their first shipments. even if they asked for more, it takes time to make and ship shit, so they either already had a shit ton stored away, or these are going to be reordered, but at the least more exclusives will be requested by target. oh, and you better believe other retailers noticed this too and want in.

Practically every exclusive is done in order to get stores to order more of their products.
USually the exclusives are figures that were being planned out but were canceled because stores didn't order enough to substain a new wave
So if every retailer wants the product, everything will be released like normal. No reason for Hasbro to create incentives.

Also, i seem to remember that the first few 25th sets were unofficially Target exclusives, since stores like Walmart were late in carrying the line. I don't remember TRU carrying anything until the single packs either.

Also, are you confusing waves with restocks? Because it won't take 2-5 waves. Cool down will happen in Christmas when overstock is shoved down everyone's throats. Revision cases will be made that can contain wave 1 figures and even Cobra Island figures with wave 2.

Either way, you're not going to see exclusives if stores want more GI Joes, because like i said, exclusives is to make stores order more of the product to make it worth their while.
They have literally tons stock in some distributor's warehouse ready to be shipped to any Target or Walmart distribution center, which they will over order now thanks to pent up demand making people freak out by preordering everything and standing in lines for products.

I still stand by my statement that the cool down will happen once everyone is sick of the pegwarming during the holiday Not sure what the game's release will do to its popularity or it could make people dislike the Classified designs.
Also, remember that there's the after-Christmas glut, so you'll have a month or three of nothing but whatever is left over after Christmas.
Hasbro better hope that Toy Fair isn't canceled thanks to COVID sticking around if they want to keep people excited for new products.

Those Dollar General figures were awesome. Hasbro tells the GI Joe team to make some cheap wave for DG, so the team takes some of the best molds they had at the time, recolor them into deep cuts of toy lore that were cool and appealing to collectors. Seems like its the first thing they do, since a lot of waves in themselves are constructed on budgets too.

Plus, isn't it more expensive to actually start production on entirely differently engineered figures? I know that Hasbro has different factories, hence the engineering being different between the different lines and the fact that using different materials/machinery would cost more if they no longer had them around at their factory.
Were they even still producing O-ring figures at that point?

I don't find your story believable, especially since they'd have to get approvals from various bosses through the various stages of production/planning/designing.

I only got the Storm Shadow and the green recolor of the Snake Eyes. They don't feel any different than, say, the red ninjas from Retaliation. If anything, it was the wave 3 Snake Eyes from Retaliation that had gummier plastic that felt weird.

I pulled them out a few days ago. I wasn't a huge fan of the Night Viper, mainly because the Resolute sniper rifle didn't feel right with them. But it's pretty awesome in the green Snake Eyes' hands.

It's amazing what a toy designer can do with a great mold and minimal paint and accessories. Making Duke into a generic Greenshirt and giving Shipwreck the sweater look were both brilliant and black Cobra Commander with black Trooper should have been something used in a full box set or something.

The whole outfit is the 3E top, UA Heatgear Balaclava, Vasily's pants, Silent shoes, and the default Oakley gloves. I bought the modern ninja set that came with the mask and shoes. I ended up using the top it came with for Scarlett.

I've also made Stalker, Flint and Shipwreck at one point but I wasn't happy with em. I never tried Gung Ho because you can't give him his chest tattoo and there aren't like military t-shirts with their logos and stuff on em. The customization in Breakpoint is better in some regards and worse in others. Mostly the colors/camos.

Breakpoint would be a perfect GI Joe game. I mean its about a group of Special Forces taking out a giant paramilitary terrorist organization that took over a super tech island. That feels more GI Joe than Ghost Recon or anything related to the stuff that has Tom Clancy's name tied to it.

That's what convinced me to buy it besides the cosmetic stuff. I know a lot of hardcore GR players aren't happy with the game but I'm playing it as a GI Joe simulator instead of a tactical shooter and it's fun. Probably helps that I got the game for $9. Their biggest complaints seem to be about fighting drones but that makes it all the more Cobra-esque to me. I'm still real early into the game. Only done like 3 of the main quest missions and a side one. Mostly I've been hunting around for gear to make Joes and taking out bases.

And got Roadblock just now. This time all I did was ask some teenager who was stocking the shelves. No pegs, no Joes, though his little PDA gave aisle locations. He went in the back and came back with ‘block and Beach Head. At this point I’ve gone to two Targets far from my house and come away with two figures. After I talked to someone at customer service about the figures and showed them the tweets, they called the manager over to the desk and just passed me off to him. Unfortunately, Kimbo Block's sunglasses don't really work with any of the others, including Roadblock 1. Kimbo has little holes under his doo-rag to keep them in place. Also they removed the blue energy accents from his gun, making it even worse than it was before.

There was a lot of initial fear that's slowly subsided. The Joe team outside of wave 1 don't have gold shin guards. For the most part Scarlett got the craziest wardrobe change. Hasbro's demonstrated here they're willing to do a million variations of each character if you don't like one design. It's corny to say, but I think a lot of fans chilled out when they finally got the figures in hand.

I can live with reviewers getting shit early. It's on them to pay for those quick views if they choose to do so. What grates me with erivera is when he says he doesn't know much about Joes and then encourages others to get them even if they don't care for the source. It just defeats the point of getting people into the series.

I'd happily take someone new who's genuinely enthused by these figures enough to dive into ANY media of Joes than someone who just wants them as background filler for their shitty ML display.

Yeah but I haven't seen anyone bitching about that in a while. Only complaint about the guns I've seen recently are that they've used Nerf Guns for their guns. Personally I'm against that, just because they just look like nerf guns. I liked Dukes Hybrid AR/Laser and Roadblocks big railgun. I don't use em, I just bought and used 1:12 guns but I I'm more than ok with them making hybrid guns that mix the real world guns and the 80's laser rifles.

The only people I still see complaining about the Classified line are 80's Nostalgia blinded fags like Retroblasting who don't like that they aren't 1:1 design recreations of the original designs, or 1:18 fags who are angry and bitter that the line isn't 100% devoted to their preferred scale. And I guess those of us annoyed with the shitshow that's going on with Target, but I don't think that's really aimed at the line specifically and more just angry at the situation.

That's more or less what I'm saying. the 5 colors looking almost scattershot on her is better than all of the 2 color repaints everyone is making. I feel like, aside from the arms, the only thing that could improve Scarlett would be her midsection being the same color as her chestplate. And maybe a darker shade of red hair, but the lighter orange has grown on me.

I think it's because the different colors are almost all on different material-looking parts of the figure. Then you go and get repaints like this>>8335498 that take no heed of that because they just want colors where they were on the original figure so you end up with two-tone jeans where the crotch perfectly matches her shirt and random texture changes across the legs and torso.

Not that anon but I'd say I'm more distracted by the fact that Destro is holding the gun in the wrong hand, and doesn't have his finger on the trigger than I am by the hunched over villain walk. And if they are walking as a group the Troopers should be doing more than just standing there. I'd give it a 7/10. Posing needs a little more effort.

Finally got my pulse exclusive snake eyes. Packaging is gorgeous and all the gear is neat but his fucking waist joint is floppy. All 4 of the classified Joe's I own have floppy joints of some kind, does anyone else have this issue? That and the soft webgear always seems to jumble around and tempted to glue them into place.

That’s crazy. I’ve gotten Scarlett, and just today got the retail Snake-Eyes (>>8337273) and they’re both fairly tight. Snake-Eyes is so tight, in fact, that his waist joint feels like something is twisting or bending when I move it, and his butterfly joints are stuck.

Also, someone had asked if Overwatch Ultimates Soldier 76’s rifle would fit on Duke. If Duke’s hands are anything like Snake-Eyes’, you’re going to have to heat them up to get him to hold the gun. Snake-Eyes’ grip is like a vice because his plastic is so firm. Have a pic with a few various Hasbro rifles.

The detents on the hinge were super tight for me, but they're fine now. Swivels are getting looser as a result though, articulating the hinge is pushing the hand against the wrist, flexing the hole open, so it loosens the pegs fit inside. Idk if that made sense, but that's what I can deduce

I have one of the first shipment Pulse Snake Eyes and don't have any floppy joints nor do my Scarlett or Duke. I actually had the opposite problem with Duke where some of the joints are really tight. His left wrist hinge is basically unusable because everytime I moved it up or down, it stressed the plastic so I don't even move it now.

Snake has the worst case with his ball waist being near ragdoll loose but the rest are tight or almost to tight. The rest have one or 2 joints that are wobbly or loose feeling but the rest fell rock solid or way to tight. The inconsistency just gives them an odd feeling but just need to dig into them with floor polish and gun oil to fix it. Only other complain is the hands are really stiff and hard to fit gear into them and the soft gear jiggling around kinda irks me a bit.

But god damn I do admit they look good.

Not that I've seen. I tried it out of curiosity and didn't like it because it made him like a quarter of an inch shorter and the boots are blue grey and don't really fit Duke. But if the armor annoys you that much its an option. Honestly after some of the repaints I've seen that just paint the shinguards a solid darker color like gunmetal or something they looks fine. Same thing with the knee pads but I've put different kneepads on my Duke anyway.

Digging Snakeeyes so far, the wrist joints and the waist/ab joints are pretty good. Hope they make a basic ninja trooper, Ally Viper will be dope but too many acessories to sell at 15 buck like the hydra guys.

I have the pimp Destro and CC on pre-order, have been scouring brickseek and popfindr for the Baroness. But the basic line never showed up in my city so I have mostly relied on online. Not going to have hope I can get a Beachhead.

Nah, man. He was probably the best character on the cartoon. He just didn't get a lot of play in the Marvel comic and only had the two vintage figures. I think the lack of reprints/rereleases of the character made him look less desirable. Lord knows I thought the same thing about Beach Head growing up.

That was called the Jungle Viper, by the way.

Well I had an interesting morning. Went to a Target looking for Cobra Troopers, left with Gung Ho. Got the run around about the street date on the Troopers, but the Wave 2 stuff had no issue. Aside from them limiting it to a single figure per customer.

Shipwreck is awesome in a weird way. He's a sailor and a SEAL and a legit badass on a team of badasses. Even the cartoon, his voice and the fact that he was always around makes him memorable. I always thought Shipwreck was the fourth or fifth most recognizable Joe, just behind Snake Eyes, Duke, Beachhead and Gung-Ho.

Plus, he had that parrot.

If its any consolation, the Target I went to that had wave 2 was only letting you get 1 figure. Not 1 each, just 1 period. And I wasn't going there for Wave 2 it was just a happy coincidence. And also really funny because the guy wouldn't let me get any Troopers because of the Street Date, but the figures that shouldn't be out for another 2-3 months were cool to sell.

Maybe if the guy handing them out of the box was different. This guy seemed to know about collectors and scalpers and stuff. He was giving me the run around about the Street Date on the Cobra Island figures. Saying the Street Date is the 16th, I told him it was suppose to be like the 27th, then the 1st, he acknowledged that, but said it was now the 16th. The case the figures was in had a handwritten note from management about 1 figure per customer. Really nothing short of having another person get it from the guy was going to get it from him. On one hand, I'm glad someone is trying to help mitigate scalpers, but on the other, I think limiting it to a single figure period is fucking annoying. I'm not asking for 2 Gung Ho or CC, I just wanted 1 of each.

The deluxe package is cool and all but there''s nothing you'll really be missing in a year or two when Hasbro reuses the weapon stand with some other release. You could always repaint a retail Snake Eyes to match the Pulse version and all the weapons sans spear come with the Red Ninja. Your vacation was probably a better investment.

That sounds like bullshit. I hate how it's different from store to store too. Some people are lucky to walk out with cases where others are getting scraps or are being limited. I hope Hasbro pays attention to their social media because they have been getting hammered by people about this situation, so hopefully they are pumping more out to keep shipping or never do this again without throwing some up on Pulse too.

This should be standard considering they're charging the same as Marvel legends which first have a licensing fee which Joe doesn't and they also include BAF parts which Joe also doesn't. An extra pair of hands bare minimum should be expected.

They did one for Transformers that included a redeco of a previous figure. If they'll do one for Transformers on Pulse, there's no reason why they won't for GIJOE also. They could do a urban redeco of Beach Head and include a bunch of vintage style weapons in the pack.
