contest reminder post, I don't feel like taking a new picture edition

Race war's on. Build an awesome war machine to bring holy death and destruction to the filthy yellow hordes. Requires: either fleshie crew or a stirring, heart-wrenching backstory of two words minimum about why a yellow individual became a traitor to his jaundiced race.

Four winners will be picked, two random, two judged; first three get choice of these, fourth gets the leftovers and something extra, free shipping everywhere on the planet, deadline: August 31

Something I learned very quickly as a child was that as far as entertainment goes video games always were the best value. Even when that new game cost $50 and you could buy 10 action figures for the same price, 1 video game greatly outweighs 10 action figures.

A huge $200 lego set or model kit could maybe give you as much enjoyment as a single video game, but gain for four times the price. Given how huge video games became it seems I wasn't the only one who reached such a conclusion.

I realized that the book cover shells were designed in a way that keeps the Technic pin holders slightly offset from the internal studded plane. Had to tear the whole deck out and redo it, but now the deck rests on a 2x16 extension of the bottom plate so it's a lot more sturdy and supported than when it was just being held up by the Technic pins and the tips of a couple of 2x10 plates.

Front landing was a lot easier to deal with.

I've been working on the interior of this house, but my BrickLink order for the last touches (for now) have yet to show up and it's been over a week. It was supposed to show up in three days, the tracking hasn't changed since the 26th saying "arriving late" with no location. I'm starting to think it's lost, but I have no idea what to do about it.

I did manage to rework the front to pop off and allow for a view of the inside at least. Still trying to work a couch or some sort of furniture into the first floor.

I think there should be an offset you can manage that would get it flush. Kinda looks like the technic brick should be upside down. But relying on such a weak connection wouldn't have been good for cantilevering it out like that, so it's probably for the best.

Friendsified hybrid of various pirate ships.
Idea began as a Friends version of the Silent Mary, since its tattered sails are almost the same size as those on the friends ghost ship rollercoaster.
Didn't have the money for that one so went with a more typical pirate ship instead.
Have intense trouble with finding good minidolls though.

I wanted to do my own design partly cause I just want to and partly cause I want to use a different windshield (I know warthogs have kinda slim windshields, but it still bothers me that it only covers half the driver's face with the one he used) so I had to do a different front end design.
That said, I did copy (not exactly, but very significantly) the wheel design from the warthog in the instructions you posted, so it was very helpful in that regard, thanks! And if my wheel design ends up being inadequate I might modify it to be even more like that guy's.
I kinda want to do a hornet, I have olive BrickForge ODST armor/helmets for Halo 3 style pilots, would be cool to have a hornet or pelican for them.
Now I have to figure out how to make the turret a 3 barrel design, I am trying to copy the warthog in pic related, I think I see what he did, some 6L bars inside one of those old wheels that was on all the little racecars back around 2000. But I don't know how well they'll stay in there.

First time using it, LeoCAD. It's sometimes a bit difficult/annoying to get the proper camera position/angle, but other than that, the software seems great so far, overall I'm happy with it.

Got used Watchpoint Gibraltar's shuttle for 20$.
It was missing a few common parts (and I had to substitute the 2 black triangle plates I don't have with another pieces) and had only Reaper (with one shotgun). So no ugly mercy for me I guess...

The brand new set costs 100$ in local store so no way I was going to pay that price. Especially since I wanted the shuttle as a decoration for tracer/widowmaker set. I really do not care about other minifigures. I'm just glad I can attach payload (small ship) to the shuttle and resolve the feeling of unfinished business.

And I really love how the thing looks. Love red tower, reminds me of Launch command one.

I think it would be a great theme but LEGO probably thinks the IP isn't popular enough.

But it has everything you need... StarFox and Star Wolf space ships, the Landmaster, the Great Fox ship, memorable characters that would work in minifig scale. I also think F-Zero would be fucking amazing... they could make small slightly larger than the Star Wars Microfighters sets of all of the racecars with their pilots as minifigs.

This. Fleshies are what starded the downward spiral. When fleshies were first released, minifigs including fleshies were still good in all regards aside from the fact that they were fleshies, but what I think started to set things off more is when Star Wars sets moved from movie-based sets to cartoon-based sets (Clone Wars) which was like 2008, they started making the minifigs really cartoony, and from then on minifigs in general have been cartoony trash.
On a side note, it's funny as fuck that the first fleshie ever, Lando, was included in a set alongside yellow minifigs, they just made him a fleshie cause he's not a system, he's a nigger.

White shine on eyes I can get used to, it's the printing dimples/cheekbones on the faces that is really horrible. Also don't like the trend of trying to connect prints from torso to the legs and hips. Not only does it look awful most of the time but they tend to be misaligned.

Quick BL question for /lg/
I received a BL order today and amongst the order were suppose to be the following

>8 1x1 tiles with waffle and strawberry slice print
>16 dark brown short tussled hair pieces

However, I received 1 less of each of those parts then what I had ordered and paid for.
I honestly don't care that much. I mean it is a little annoying, but whatever. These particular parts were all added to the order mostly to fill it out, I don't actually need them. In total the missing parts are no more then a dollar or two.

However part of me thinks I should message the seller foe some reason, but part of me also just thinks I shouldn't bother, that I'm just being a bit pedantic. Either way I intend to give positive feedback, as other then the missing pieces, everything else was good.

What should I do? Should I message the seller and just say "Hey, it's no big deal but you forgot a couple of things" or should I just let it slide?

Does it need to be legit lego? If you want to save on cost a guy on Ebay sells generic ones for $6 dollars. If you need to have the real thing you might be able to find them cheaper than the bricklink guy but can still cost what you could buy a few sets for too.

I did a quick look and found two sellers with one guy have a trans blue for around 60 and another having a lot of two ( black and purple which looks kinda like blue) for 85 which is actually not bad since it's a lot. Would those interests you?

Assembly Square is most likely retiring this fall. It’s from 2017 and there are 3 other modulars for sale with one coming Jan 1.

Downtown Diner has at least another year left as it’s the 2nd oldest. Of course this could change with their production issues they may think fuck it let’s retire two to make way for new things, but I doubt it.

I did the same thing essentially I bought Haunted House, Bookshop, Assembly Square and the NES. Fucking $1100 CAD.

shitty fucking play feature with a claw that can't grab the rock because it's actually tensioned like a normal brick instead of something made to split apart
no other play features besides flying the stuff around with your hands - this is fine except for the fact that you can't pick up the space ship comfortably with an adult hand let alone a childs one

Don't like the fences they put at the front, looks much better without them. Without them the thing looks (dare I say it) pretty badass. The driver's suit is okay, the solar panel is definitely a solar panel (Wish it was one of the shiny transparent ones from old space)

Wish the chassis was more detailed. I would love to have the same model, but all of the wheels on a torsion bar suspension. Would make a lot more sense for an off world rover. The arm is fine, the articulation good, the camera stand is retarded.
>From a conceptual standpoint
I can literally FEEL the corporate faggotry at work. The build on itself is fine, but looking closer the inclusion of the camera, the inclusion of the second minifigure, and the setting of "on earth testing" is such a blatant attempt to bloat the set and cash in on the whole "lego is including women in science!" scene while supplying minifigures for children. Feels gross.

Replace the female minifgure in a jump suit thing with one in a space suit. nix the dumbass camera. maybe keep the solar panels. MOVE the setting to on mars/moon whatever the fuck the current theme is.

Moving on to the Jungle sub-theme. I have only built ONE set of these,
5936 Spider's Secret. I just looked at this on Bricklink, and do not remember seeing this before but they have the name listed as "Spider's Secret / Señor Gomez's Expedition". Funny for several reasons but one is I thought the dude in the white clothes was Señor PALOMAR, not Señor Gomez! Who the fuck is Señor Gomez? Well either way, "Watch out Señor! Orient Expedition sub-theme from left to right:

7414 Elephant Caravan
7411 Tygurah's Roar
7413 Passage of Jun-Chi
7412 Yeti's Hideout

While I really love the desert sub-theme, I think Orient Expedition is the best of the four. It has more diverse builds instead of just tan everything. I don't know if I can handle all this pure Lego kino.

And last is my lone entry into the Dino Island sub-theme. This is 5913 Dr. Lightning's Car. I shouldn't even have bought this. I don't intend to get the rest of the Dino Island sets. This sub-theme feels off to me. It isn't reality based like the other ones. Its like Indiana Jones ripoff meets Jurassic Park ripoff. Convince me otherwise.

Update on my 40 missing parts

I ordered a bunch of macaroni bricks and 4x4 curved plates in different colors that came bundled together. The seller just forgot to include the last bundle when he shipped, but he sent them out today with a tracking number.

He also refunded the entire shipping charge for the original order, which was completely unexpected.

As much as I dislike the direction they went with the theme, the brick built mario blind bags are fucking great.

I honestly hope they do some sort of brick built blindbag wave in the future, irrigardless of what theme its tied to.

The following post is all about Lego System sets from 1997 til about 2003. These are all in-store prices and not online prices.

I remember seeing 7111 Droid Fighter for 1 pence. Yes, 1 pence. I bought a few. I see em on ebay now for £20 plus, ha ha... I don't have any boxed ones left, my parents insisted I hand them out as gifts to my mates. (Saved them money on birthday presents, I guess).

I also saw B-Wing for £12, and got an A-Wing for £8. I got some "Race" kits for about £5 each, small-ish cars with Blue and Red guys in pic related. I got Final Duel I and II (and Jedi Defense I and II) for £4 each. I used to pick up Harry Potter kits SOLELY for the exclusive pieces (purple "lightsaber" beam, unique-colored jewels, etc). I remember loving the Knights Kingdom range from about 2000/2001, had basically all the small kits from that. There was 4 kits and each had an exclusive shiny part; sword, silver bull shield, crown and silver armour breastplate. I remember scraping by all my pennies and getting each one and piecing together Cedric (I think that's what he was called) the ultimate warrior was a real thrill.

I also remember some tiny kits in the "Race" sort of theme, but with a gimmick; you could flip the driver out of the car from the side. (Not full minifigs, they were one-piece figures). These were going for 2p each. Probably worth a few bob today. I got a few at the time but I opened them all and tbf they all got played with.

I also picked up 40292 Christmas Present in a charity shop for £2 quite recently. I believe it is worth about £20. It is still new in box.

I also recently picked up the Lego Star Wars Encyclopedia (Dorling Kindersley), first and updated editions, one with a sandy Luke Skywalker minifig (one had had an Emperor minifig, but it was missing). I got these for £3 each recently in a bookshop clearance sale. I thoroughly advise these books for any ardent fan; they have full catalogs and saves you juggling 20 tabs on Brickipedia.

I got Elephant Caravan mostly just for the unique scimitar piece. I also liked those stackable storage crates. I had the biplane (5935, which I thought was just an excellent kit. I got it AT Legoland Windsor in 2002).) and the large dinosaur transport (5975). I thought these kits were great. I think they just wanted to use Johnny Thunder as a kind of vehicle for various themes, like how CITY now seems to incorporate.... Anything That Isnt Licenced. CITY seems to now incorporate Space, Aquanauts, sports and Rock Raiders-style themes. I think they wanted to branch Adventurers out into other themes (dinosaurs, 1930s style monster-mania (Yeti, did they do a King Kong set? etc) and keep a recognizable lead character so people had a point of reference.
Just a thought.

I also liked the large-scale dinosaur kits from around this time, too (6720, etc). Which may or may not have been linked to Jurassic Park III (2001).

Found them on Ebay. The blue listing is titled "Genuine LEGO Unpublished Monochrome Prototype Trans-Blue Minifigure Rare" and the lot is listed as "LEGO Monochrome Trans Purple And Trans Black Minifigure Prototype Minifig SDCC"
