Mine have been a little cheaper than usual due to switching from EMS to DHL. The only drawback is that it takes a little longer to arrive since DHL forwards the package to the USPS and it seems like that process always takes a few days.

Well, I'm mad as fuck and I don't quite know who to blame. On July 1st, out of work and bored as hell, I grudgingly handed over ~$150 to ship my Private Warehouse haul with DHL, thinking I could at least build some kits in my downtime. It's now been over a month and my package still hasn't arrived, DHL keeps dicking me around, giving me various obscure tracking messages about why my package has been in my state for over a month yet somehow can't be delivered.

I've been bored for the past month and now I feel like I've pissed away that "fast delivery" money too.

Covid is ravaging Japan right now, it seemed to die down by June and Abe lifted most of the restrictions but then another wave hit them in July, this time they have it far worse than they did in April. Japan to Canada has been fine for speed, but the higher prices are really discouraging me from buying anything that's not a deal I absolutely can't pass up.

I really can't wait for surface shipping to return. I don't care if I have to wait 3 months to get stuff, as long as it's affordable, and not destroyed. Back in the old days it took 4-6 weeks from Japan. AND WE LIKED IT.

They've been doing it for a few years where I live but I'm a few hours away from a major DHL sorting center. I'd imagine they'll still deliver it to you themselves if you're close enough to a sorting center. Otherwise it's just easier for them to hand it off to USPS once it gets close enough.

Has anyone used Pony Express and is it decent? I hardly ever hear of it but apparently it's one of only two shipping options available to me now, along with surface. I heard they're a bit of a pain in the ass compared to something like SAL and EMS since they ask for your tax number and even passport scans but their delivery estimates seem to be way faster than those of surface so that's tempting.

Why didn't you pick surface shipping instead of DHL, HobbySearch is like the only shop that actually offers surface which can be shipped to United States immediately. It may be slow but it's cheap enough and it's surely faster than waiting for Japan Post.

Maybe the wrong thread but does anyone know how long Amiami takes to refund payments? I asked if they could ship a returned order but apparently they couldn't find it so they offered a refund. They said the payment was refunded about a month ago but nothing has shown up yet.

So I finally received my package from Hong Kong that was shipped out to me in June via surface mail. Overall, it took ~2 months to get to me in the US. That honestly wasn't too horrible given all the bullshit with COVID-19 and Trump trying to fuck up the USPS. It's a hell of a lot better than waiting possibly into next year before my pre-orders in Japan ships out.

I was hit by customs for the third time in a row and I'm getting sick of paying €10-15 on top of the taxes for some cunt to look at the packaging slip for 12 seconds. I used to grab shit from Jungle/Mandarake but both stopped marking down packages.

I used to sometimes get lucky but either they've changed their system or my luck has just run out.
