I'm just happy to be getting a Superman figure at all since it seems like most people treat him as a supporting character for Batman. I'd imagine any other Superman figures we get will also be from Batman stories. I'd love a Gurihiru or Franky Quitely Superman though.

Medicom has been doing it for a few years now. Most of the time it's cool bonus stuff that they could have done an entirely separate release for (Scarecrow's demon pieces for Batman and Cop Joker's interrogation Joker pieces come to mind) but other times it's stuff that should have been included, like the Kryptonite spear and damaged head for Armored Batman that came with Knightmare Batman.

My batman's legs feel like they're connected to each other at the groin. One is longer than the other and the drop down at the hips doesn't work well. i havent watched his videos but at this point i dont think anyone would readily jump up and defend mafex qc. i havent had any break on me, not even my iron spider but i certainly handle them more delicately and definitely have done preemptive mods to either free up, reinforce or tighten mafex joints. no one who collects mafex would ever disagree these ppl need to step up their qc standards.

i dont consider myself as a mafex collector, more like they do my fav sculpts of my fav versions of some characters so i risk the qc.

Blame some of that on Hasbro's massive cost-cutting though. The Transformers they make are rarely on the level of what came out even 10 years ago, it probably affects their other lines too.

I got one of these recently for dirt cheap, it's one of the most solid Transformers I've ever handled. You'd have to try to break it. Now I'd be afraid to handle any modern TF the same for fear of snapping a piece off. It doesn't help that engineering this good is reserved for the "we priced it 5X what it should be" Masterpiece line which will probably crack something off if you don't handle it with tweezers. Fuck me for expecting something expensive to be durable, I guess. Plus nearly every retail toy requires a fucking add-on that costs nearly as much as the toy just to look good.

Shart also had to cut 3rd party stuff to get Hasbro to like him. It hardly seemed worth it. Thta's like agreeing to stop eating healthy so some slob will be your best bud.

Nah, New Adventures had great art style. It was also the bridge between the TAS style and the rest of the DC Animated series.

TAS was great, but the rest of the shows with their streamlined designs is the go-to style of that universe.

the actual animation is done by slave labor overseas, because America doesn't animate 99% of the animation. They basically only do the key frames.
One of the last [traditional] cartoons to get full animation in America (mexico and canadia included) was He Man and it was one of the most expensive to produce cartoon series ever.

Not getting into the paint job, but in terms of the sculpt, it's close enough to the Figuarts that I think I'd rather just stick to the figures.

Even the best Mafex figures still have a kinda...I don't know...gummy feeling to the plastic that I don't like. I seriously don't know what the difference is between the plastic Mafex uses and the plastic Figuarts uses but Figuarts just feels better in hand.

Their TDK Trilogy stuff did but then again they started an entire year after it ended. JL Batman came out about 4 months after the movie did. BvS Batman and Superman came out about 3 months afterwards. These were all 2+ years ago so when they weren't releasing as much so you'll probably be waiting longer this time around.

I think it just depends on what country you live in and what their consumer laws are.

In my country it doesn’t matter if you contact the manufacturer or the company you purchased it from, both are equally required to refund/replace a faulty product - and its against the law for the manufacturer to turn the customer away and tell them to contact the distributor istead.

America doesn’t have as robust consumer laws as a lot of other places.

I know I'm totally splitting hairs here: but I think I might try and take the head from the battle damaged Batman and use it on this new one, I think the black eyeliner and black wrinkles and mouth look a lot better on the battle damaged version then on the 'clean' version. Hopefully the blues are reasonably close enough.

it pains me to see mafex nail the sculpt and proportions so well because whoever is sculpting these, the end product results don't live up to it most of the time, especially after their paint QC. We'll see though, if this comes out as nicely painted as Robocop I might get it.

yeah, i'm with this anon here. only other thing that sticks out to me is how the mafex one will be sacrificing vertical joint range on the ankle because they're keeping to the movie proportion/armor shape for the mk85 shin-to-ankle silhouette.
