I doubt Hasbro is conspiring with other cardboard trash makers like you need to believe though.
But again, if you think you're being ripped off with that playset, please provide some proof.
Here's Playmobil with a $40 set. They're one of the few companies that give you a lot of bang for your buck. Kinda simplistic, since that mold is reused for other playsets, and furniture stuff is roughly half the size it should be for 1:18 though.
Would you say it's fair for Hasbro to charge $10 more because they're actually paying for a big name license?
