It sounds like you might like Hexa Gear figures, they're a little smaller than shodo stuff, but they're really cool looking. There are even large customizable mechs that they can pilot.

1:18th scale has become unpopular with American toy manufacturers ever since GI Joe fell out of popularity (only to return as larger 1:12th scale figures). There are a few indie companies like Boss Fight Studios keeping 1:18th scale alive in the US. There are actually quite a few options from China and Japan. Pic related is JoyToy, they basically do all kinds of paramilitary scifi stuff.

89 bucks for a single figure , got in on bbts a couple months ago for half off. Its still on the square enix store . Square also has a 4 pack of unpainted figures for around the same price . Unpainted unassembled.
