the quality of lego has seriously declined in the last decade as popularity has massively increased. Obviously Lego has always been a popular toy, but back in the early to late 00s Lego was in decline in popularity, and sales were way down. It wasn't until the early 2010s that the brand began to rebound, and with the success of the lego movie its popularity spiked massively, as well as them increasing their market to girls with a popular line of female-centric lego sets. All of the disney licensing as well as other licensing brands like star wars have helped the company out so much, but at the same time you can clearly see the sharp drop in quality in the plastic.

I started noticing it around 2010-11, when they started to release the minifig collectables. The plastic quality when you examined them was clearly inferior to the lego produced in Denmark that was where most of it was produced until they expanded their factories with outsourcing.

It's really sad, because Lego is so unoriginal these days, almost all their lines are licensed, and most of their sets are just uninteresting and overly complex with specialty parts.

I cant refute alot of this but the quality drop arent the endtimes... or maybe they are with all the knockoffs improving in quality by leaps and bounds. Time will tell if Lego will actually be surpassed in quality (doubtful).
My personal experience quality wise with most block brands has been highly positive; I seem to get the least defective sets whether Megabloks, Lego, Kazi or Cobi.
I also feel like the most popular kind of Lego sets (those cartoony vehicle based playsets) are pretty lame. They're literally blocky action figure lines with gimmicky vehicles that just so happens to be built. Most of them having licenses just seals feeling. I know most of Legos competitors are militaryfags but at least alot of them put scale model like quality to make the sets abit more extra.
