Toys used to be sculpted 2x the size the production figure would be and they'd scale it down using a pantograph.
Sometimes the Chinese factories fuck shit up, not knowing the correct size and just produce the mold either too large or too small. Once the mold is produced and it comes out the wrong size, they say "fuck it" because it's too expensive to produce another mold.
So you end up with a toy or accessories that end up being too large because the toy company is too cheap to produce another mold.
I doubt NECA had a pantograph accident, because hte prototype was sculpted in scale with the toys.
I want to say that that they didn't want to save on production cost by shrinking down the body, because the size difference would be just a penny or two in extra plastic. It's the molds that make shit cost prohibitive and an inch difference wouldn't make them produce more molds.
I'd like to hear what NECA has to say and I'm surprised there's been no interviews and questions on that.
